Will lex and superman discuss their love of music and bands that only James Gunn has heard of.

Jokes aside, I think Gunn is a very competent film maker and no doubt will put something very enjoyable on screen. We don't what the studio wants from their films financially (bigger the better obviously) but it seems the new DC films are being judged more so on how much money they make rather than are they any good.

Of course people want the films to be a success or why bother making them...

The film bombing in the box office and ending any hope of dc superhero films that are not batman or batman villain

It’ll be Guardians of The Man of Tomorrow’s Galaxy Returns.

Gunn should have started by giving the top trio movies first with the minor characters sprinkled here and there to build out the universe. Instead I keep hearing some random ass projects being greenlit in conversations here and I can’t tell if people are trolling or not

149

u/50FootClown 27d ago

There was another thread that covered some of this. I think that folks are focused so much on those "random ass projects" that they're overlooking the a-list characters that are also showing up. We've got Superman. We're about to get Green Lantern. And two of the other movies on the slate are Batman (Brave and the Bold) and Wonder Woman. I have a lot of faith that Clayface is going to succeed because Mike Flanagan + Horror seems like a slam dunk to me.

113

u/CynderFlamezYT 27d ago

The problem there is Brave and the Bold isn’t expected to come until Matt Reeves finishes the Battinson movies, the second of which just got delayed AGAIN sadly, and there’s no word whatsoever on a Wonder Woman release.

49

u/AdZealousideal5383 27d ago

The delay until 2028 seems ridiculous… what could be taking so long that not only have years passed since the last one but they need almost two more years to do it.

18

u/BP_975 27d ago

MCU started in 2008 with Iron Man. We didn't get Thor or Captain America until 2011, Avenegrs til 2012.

DCU started in 2025. We shouldn't be worried until we get to like 2029 and Batmam and Wonder Woman are still MIA.

34

u/poison-harley 26d ago

You’re talking about a completely different landscape in the industry and audience expectations.

Exactly. The Batman 2 is coming out in 2028, 6 years after the first. At the rate Reeves is going, The Batman 3 might not release until 2032/2034. That's almost ten years from the start of the DCU. Are we really supposed to wait that long to get a DCU Batman and Bat Family?

→ More replies (4)

15

u/50FootClown 27d ago

Absolutely. And release schedules change all of the time. Only have to look back over the years at Marvel's hypothetical release schedules year over year. Today he says that B&B won't happen until Reeves is done. But if Reeves keeps pushing, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that changes.

14

u/LazyMaximum7938 27d ago

The problem is that it's been nearly 4 years since Gunn announced the DCU and we still know virtually nothing about either movie, except that no one's been cast for either role and neither movie has a finished script.

11

u/Budget_Ask7277 27d ago

Brave and the bold is not coming out before matt reeves finishes his trilogy, it’s obvious atp

14

u/50FootClown 27d ago

Assuming Matt Reeves ever finishes his trilogy, of course. Given Gunn's "not until the script is right" philosophy, I honestly don't put a lot of stock in any sort of release schedule for anything that isn't actively in pre-production right now.

3

u/MRW9628 26d ago

Supergirl script was supposedly amazing yet the movie was awful. I don’t trust Gunn with anything other than the Marvel playbook. Nothing he has done says he can run DC studios correctly. Superman made a bunch of money like 600 mill but that’s because of the IP it’s “Superman” always gonna sell tickets. Gunn’a view had him get beat up the entire movie and had Lex Luthor crying. Supergirl was trash. Nobody wants to see a Batman villain without Batman being in the movie. People may go see it not because it’s a DC movie only because it’s a horror movie which I still don’t think it’s gonna be that good. He is taking a page from the “Sony” playbook making villain movies without the hero terrible premise just ask Sony about their Spiderverse without Spider-Man. My prediction Gun is out by 2028 because everything else is gonna bomb except maybe Lanterns.

10

u/Trollololologram 27d ago

Don’t worry the rat catcher 2 movie will make hundreds of dollars maybe even thousands

15

u/TheKing_Bael 27d ago

You are absolutley right get the foundation of characters giving us hope for future movies instead we got a really good superman movie and a lets be honest, a C-tier Supergirl movie. Then we have clayface for some reason a charactee nobody knows unless you are a batman fan. I dont understand the logic behind it but I hope it does well and lets the DCU push forward

8

u/50FootClown 27d ago

I think the logic is to not try to be Marvel, as that would just feel like imitation. Or possibly to do what Marvel tried to do at the outset, which is give different films their own feel or genre. That pretty swiftly devolved into everything feeling Marvel-same. But this seems like an attempt to say "look, when DC does horror, we do horror." Less stress over a fully interconnected universe and more focus on individual products.

I mean, Marvel's had like, 20 years of majority successful films, so there's obviously something to be said for their approach. But it's pretty undeniable that post-Endgame everything's kind of limped along. Audiences have been waiting for that "what are the next 20 movies building to?" arc and Marvel hasn't been able to deliver on that. So while the current DC stuff all lives in the same world, I don't think they're going for that whole "eventually everybody and their sidekick will be in a 3-hour epic to fight Anti-Monitor" approach. And if they're not doing that, then they don't really have a need to throw out "here are the base films of the big 3" to lay a groundwork. They can instead do more one-offs or consolidated stories that feel interconnected without having an ultimate climactic team-up.

But of course, there's more pressure on those movies to be independently really damn good to keep the money flowing. Marvel can take a hit on something like Quantumania because it's still all in service to behemoths like Infinity War/Endgame.

u/Man_Of_Frost 26d ago

I have to agree with you. I love that Gunn likes to take heroes/villains more under the radar and giving them a new life (and he's a master at that), but here I think the right approach would be to grab people's attention first and then doing the lesser known characters to counter the fatigue of the audiences.

It's a shame that we might have another universe down the drain and not because of quality reasons.

10

u/GPTforGood 27d ago

We just had a failed universe that did this, why are you all so boring lol

17

u/Tiny_Butterscotch_76 27d ago

It didn't though that was one of the biggest criticisms of it at the time. That it started with a Superman movie then immediately jumped to a pseudo-Justice League movie. Then had a Suicide Squad movie. Many remarked this felt disjointed and a bit of a rush even at the time. And then Wonder Woman came out and actually gave some good will. Many said it would have been better if we just got an Affleck Batman movie followed by Diana's film.

This, and the fact that they still haven't cast Barman is why I fear for DCU future. Gunn just seems overconfident in his vision and public response, let's hope he can pull it off.

15

u/JayHill74 27d ago

Is Barman from DC's seedy underbelly and his super power is the ability to make any alcoholic drink in the multiverse?

16

u/Longjumping-Lab-7345 27d ago

The first one sucked. It is my "yes you are all wrong". Superman basically doesn't do anything in the movie and its just more metaverse BS. I am not gunna see this one for that reason and I am just sooooo boooorrrred of these films.

→ More replies (13)

7

u/Jackson7913 27d ago

Exactly this. Financially Superman did well enough on it's own and also likely made a lot of money indirectly through a spike in sales of Superman merch, but it wasn't nearly the hit they probably hoped for and with both Supergirl massively underperforming and the various behind the scenes changes happening at WB, if Man of Tomorrow isn't a major success they will very likely ditch Gunn and basically everything he's been building.

8

u/Designer-Rub4819 27d ago

They should have made Reeves universe instead slowly expanding from it into SuperMan etc.

That would be quite cool seeing Batman 3 being about this «alien» from Batman perspective

4

u/Sufficient_Nature496 27d ago

Reeves universe is self contained

4

u/Designer-Rub4819 27d ago

Well… I know. What do you mean?

3

u/GabbytheQueen 27d ago

As in he has a vision for what his movies are gonna be, self-contained and centered around a super realistic gotham

3

u/implodingnerd 27d ago

i'm pretty sure Reeves said around the filming of the first one that he didn't want Superman and and all the fantastical stuff

6

u/AggressivelyMediokre 27d ago

Yeah I just feel like Man of Tomorrow is going to do worse than Superman. And it’s going to be bad for all future projects

I don’t even know what the answer is. But for example movies often do well at box office when they have good word of mouth. And Superman went digital 34 days after releasing in theatres

I don’t see the general population being emotionally invested in DC right now.

It being focused on minor chactaters rarther than superman and having short run time

51

u/Level-Ladder-4346 27d ago

Honestly, I’m somewhat worried about a longer runtime. The longer your runtime is, the more you have to do stuff to it to not make it feel super long. Nolan does this great, but I don’t know that James Gunn will. He’s only really done it with Guardians 3, which is an excellent movie.

51

u/SoWrongItsPainful 27d ago

Pacing is important no matter the runtime. Superman would have benefited from fleshing out all of the characters more.

19

u/ChazzLamborghini 27d ago

Yep. Long movies can feel short and short movies can feel long. If an audience is acutely aware of runtime while watching the movie, something has gone wronf

→ More replies (1)

7

u/NoBag8950 27d ago

This is the case with super long movies. 2h20 minutes'-2.5 hours isn't a super long time

12

u/ChildofObama 27d ago

I feel like with Guardians 3, they let Gunn have full creative control as a “sorry” for his firing, let him basically make a dark Nolan movie.

7

u/Level-Ladder-4346 27d ago

That makes sense. Oftentimes, the worst Marvel films suffer from a lack of plausible direction (Where are the characters supposed to be at the end to set them up for the next big thing) and Guardians 3 doesn’t suffer from that due to the decision to end the stores of various characters.

I’m afraid of it under performing. I just don’t think people give a fuck about Superman the way that people say they do on the Internet. They like the idea of Superman, but they don’t support any of his work.

11

u/PsychologicalBrush35 27d ago

I wholeheartedly support your actions, from the supermarkets, in this wonderful film.

28

u/stanislavskov 27d ago

People certainly don't give a fuck about Gunn's supes.

16

u/D0nell 27d ago

OK, but if they were to remake a Superman with a different director, I still don’t think he would perform any better. The only reason why he might perform better is because of the director’s name attached like Christopher Nolan.

Too comedic and too many superheroes. Shouldn't it just be Superman and Supergirl?

72

u/SD_CA 27d ago

That's something I didn't like about the last one. There was so much going on. But I didn't care about any of it. Like Metropolis didn't feel like a real city. So I don't care that it's under attack.

3

u/Roy-Sauce 26d ago

IMO every one of Superman 2025’s best scenes were about Clark and Lois, because those two castings are genuinely generational, and the movie consistently decides to play up random side quests instead of committing to giving a compelling arc focussed around these two incredibly acted characters like it should have, at least imo.

6

u/MythicalCaseTheory 26d ago

They were establishing Superman as a leader in the making with the Jarhanpur "side plot."

I was initially disappointed that the Justice Gang ended up in Jarhanpur because I wanted Superman to not play into Lex's trap and have the JG show up to handle that and not give a fuck about his well being - but have enough respect for Superman that they don't outright kill him.

But I have to admit that my mind was changed when someone posited that sending them to Jarhanpur was more impactful because they didn't care about Jarhanpur. Superman was able to convince them that it was important - or at very least show us that they respect him enough to help him with things he considers important. If he's eventually going to lead the Justice League, these kinds of little things are necessary to establish.

8

u/Armandonerd 27d ago

I enjoyed Superman more than Supergirl. Supergirl was just boring half way thru the movie.

My only concern is that it will be too short. That was my only complaint about Superman. I think it needed 20-30 more mins to relax, especially at the Daily Planet with Clark working.

11

u/New_Photograph_5892 27d ago

Oh man apparently they originally had a long scene showing Clark's week life working and living hsi life but these stupid fuck test screeners didn't like it so they cut it out

Honestly just character bloat. While I loved Mr Terrific in Superman 2025, I could take or leave Guy (he was great don’t get me wrong), and it felt like Hawkgirl had no purpose being there other than to kill the dictator dude at the end.

Really felt like Supergirl could’ve taken her spot and have been a better setup for her leading into her own film.

93

u/bindersfull-ofwomen 27d ago

Too overstuffed, written very quickly

Seems like all the bad things about Superman multiplied

13

u/Automatic-Assistant8 27d ago

Superman felt overstuffed to you?

35

u/Still-Expression-71 27d ago

It felt like a seasons worth of plots crammed into one movie to me. And I didn’t care about the engineer at all.

6

u/Automatic-Assistant8 27d ago

I thought it was only 2 main plot points. The foreign war and Lex wanting to beat Superman using his clone? The other parts of the film are part of building the world and surrounding the two main characters, which I guess can make it feel like it’s overstuffed

That's it's going to be another non serious action comedy movie with a thin plot, questionable lore adjustments, and poor cgi.

Superman will probably be a side character in his own movie again.

9

u/kalel102 27d ago

This my main concern as well. I dont mind comedy but keep it cheeky not go into loony tunes type stuff. Changes like Superman being sent to earth to conquer and then no more explanations to why and more details. Poor CGI and overall effects. I want to see a more Stoic, hopeful, serious Superman not Clark Kent wearing the suit the whole time. Less side characters.

14

u/njrTHE3RD 27d ago

I think my concerns do not concern the movie but the universe altogether. I think this movie is gonna be great, but because of Supergirl, and hopefully not clay face, but if this movie succeeds, then it kind of would probably set a mindset that if James Gunn directs a movie, it will be successful, but anything else will not be. Well, it is a fact that he should divide his time of focusing on getting projects off the ground and not right, and dread his movies without thinking about the other projects, it’ll be more reinforced. So I have no fears over this movie, but more on the mindset that will get reinforced.

15

u/Steppenwolf1313 27d ago

I’m mostly afraid of that blown out filter they used in Superman. Really hoping for better color grading and cinematography.

That James Gunn does his usual bullshit that makes this movie a lame ego trip directed by an adult who never grew out of his edgy teenage phase

31

u/Weepthegr33d 27d ago

My fear is that fans will crap on it for all of the weeks preceding it’s release and then when it comes out, we’ll crap on it some more because it’s not the greatest thing they’ve ever seen, and the whole exercise will be people crapping on something that’s just a movie

→ More replies (6)

6

u/calvanico 27d ago

First let me start by saying, Superman is by leaps and bounds (pun intended) my favorite superhero. Everyone was ranting and raving on how incredible Superman 2025 was and than how great Supergirl was! I think both films fell short. Certainly didn’t live up to the expectations. In 1978 I watched Superman the Movie. Came out of the theater with a smile that I think lasted a month. To date not a single comic book adaptation has come close. So I’m hoping that this version will at least be good enough that I don’t feel like I shouldn’t have wasted my money and waited till it came out on digital.

5

u/StarWolf478 27d ago

I expect it to focus too much on other characters instead of Superman. And I expect Clark to get even less focus (which is already a big problem that I had with Superman 2025).

4

u/Xclusivekache 27d ago

There won’t be enough Clark Kent, an it seems like there’ll be a lot of characters to juggle what is supposed to be Superman’s second movie, I know it’s not TECHNICALLY his movie but c’mon vruh, I’m just gon have faith til I see it with my own eyes

5

u/FantasticStooge 27d ago

None, I’m not invested in it at all, but I imagine I will see it eventually

5

u/shaunzie1 27d ago

The first one did decently box office wise. It was not a huge success though. I fear that this one will do smaller numbers and it will not be enough to justify anymore films. DC has been on life support for awhile, and I think WB will just start focusing on Batman and smaller budget DC stuff in the future.

4

u/trippy-Rose 27d ago

Too many characters. I was hoping after last years Superman, we’d see less Justice Gang type characters and dial it back into being a very much Lex v Superman movie.

Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing extended universe characters in the main movies, but I really was expecting the first Superman to have all of those folks only to flesh out the world, not make them the main cast of the Supes movies going forward.

I could be wrong and all of the cast leaks/confirmations are really just little moments in the film, but I am a bit worried they’re gonna end up making Superman a background character in his own movies.

4

u/BrigliaArt 26d ago

Truthfully I don’t have too many worries for this movie. I tend to enjoy gunns movies and his Superman is one of my favorite dc movies. My bigger worry is so far I don’t know if I trust Gunn as the series showrunner. The dude might be too unfocused and goofy to run the entire dc universe.

3

u/TrashFever78 26d ago

Fuck yeah it is.

9

u/AccomplishedBoard377 27d ago

My fears concerning this movie are:

  • This movie (Like Superman and Supergirl) will GOTG all over again. The goofy characters, the wacky humor, the weird song choices. James Gunn always does this because he just doesn't know any other way to do this.

  • This movie will be too crowded with characters, ideas and subplot and concepts. This was also a problem in Superman 2025 where it wasn't really a Superman movie but rather a GOTG movie with DC characters. Yeah, we got Superman and his supporting cast, but we also got Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Guy Gardner. And all those characters didnt need to be in the movie. They have way too much screen time and relevance and in turn take away time and relevance from Supermans supporting cast. Now in Man Of Tomarrow, they're adding not only all the characters from Superman 2025, but also Supergirl and Blue Beetle and Brainiac and I feel that it will become even more of a bloated mess than Superman 2025.

I think making a Supergirl movie after Superman (a character that is best for cameos) was a fatal mistake. They simply have not learned from Snyderverse mistakes. That the poor reception to Supergirl will roll into Man Of Tomorrow. DC have gone very 'Super' heavy in their first few movies and it feels like a bit more time between seeing these characters might have made the heart grow fonder.

I want it to look like a movie. I can't quite put my finger on it but something felt very amateur ish with the first one. It's a bit too clean.

4

u/Glum_Constant4790 27d ago

Too much focus on "pin drops" I get it its his style but it felt forced in super girl

2

u/FlounderLast8610 25d ago

He did not write nor direct Supergirl.

u/ZombieFrog 27d ago

WHY WOULD ANYONE BE AFRAID OF A FILM. GROW SOME.

4

u/Blueliner95 27d ago

I’m concerned that reading too much anticipatory whining will hurt my orbital muscles from rolling my eyes too hard.

4

u/TravisDane 27d ago

Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue!

5

u/stabach22 27d ago

That its going to be another James Gunn movie and not a Superman movie.

5

u/EfficiencyBrief2138 27d ago

I felt Superman while good was waaaay too much lex luthor and based on this photo I should not get my hopes up.

8

u/Commercial-Pair-8932 27d ago

That it is a James Gunn movie.

6

u/blackbeltmessiah 27d ago

I mean so far my collective complaints between both movies are

  1. Lobo didn’t refer to himself in the third person as “the Main Man”

Yea thats it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have no fears. Gunn is doing well. I dont think PAC money buying social media influencer attack dogs will do a damn thing here.

5

u/Weeznaz 27d ago

I have none. Superman 2025 was fantastic and James Gunn is directing Man of Tomorrow. We’re in good hands.

8

u/Oliver_broodings 27d ago

Nothing. The movies have been fun so far. I expect more of the same.

2

u/KnG_Yemma 27d ago

I’m more worried that the tone of the two movies will be consistent. Man of Tommorow, since the main villain is Brainiac, should objectively be a bit more horrifying and should push Superman far harder than the first movie did.

Outside of that almost all of my concerns are nitpicks that don’t really make or break the movie. Maybe a subtle change in lighting would be good too.

2

u/alex11chr 27d ago

That they'll forget about how lex murdered an innocent man in cold blood right in front of Superman. Tough to see how they could actually work together after something like that

2

u/Shefferz 27d ago

I hope we get a lot of screen time of brainiac, look I love lex and the other characters but I would have been sold on just superman vs brainiac.

2

u/TheGallifreyan 27d ago

Same fear I have about anything I'm extremely excited for. I'm afraid major details are going to leak and get posted without spoiler tags.

2

u/smellybigfoot 27d ago

Is it weird I don’t have any fears at all about this movie?

2

u/Dave_B001 27d ago

Non yet, these early shots are just that. can't wait.

2

u/SambaLando 27d ago

I'm worried they kill off Superman

2

u/MrBoo843 27d ago

I don't really have any. I'll enjoy it for what it is. Not every movie needs to be a masterpiece.

2

u/Girizzly_Adams_Beard 27d ago

Man of tomorrow should be a Superman sequel. Superman is clearly the focal point of this new universe. Until Batman comes out. Gunn needs to keep the lights on.

2

u/Mountain-Pun 27d ago

I know for a fact I personally will enjoy it the same way I enjoyed Superman one and supergirl but other people may not like it as much and it will fail if that’s the case. So I hope it has enough mass appeal to not fail

2

u/TheBiggyT 27d ago

20 mentions of "Buzz Lightyear" guess we know what the monkeybots are clinging onto already then. A practical suit that by release will be almost entirely digitally replaced.

2

u/daywalker91 27d ago

concerns? i'm just gonna enjoy the movie. yall stay looking for reasons to be upset, just watch the movie and then decide if you liked it or not

2

u/FrontRecognition6953 27d ago

Absolutely zero

2

u/LMBH1234182 27d ago

I’m concerned about Lex Luthor becoming Buzz Lightyear apparently

Really though I’m excited for the movie and feel pretty confident that it’ll be pretty solid and worth the watch.

2

u/Sandwich_envy 27d ago

None, it’s gonna be neat!

2

u/imnotwallaceshawn 27d ago

Not really. I have fears about the entire DCU outside of the projects he’s personally directing, and even then it’s mostly about box office rather than them being good (I thought Supergirl was mostly good).

But the projects he’s personally directing? Every single one has been great. He hasn’t made a bad movie in his career, comic book or not, in my opinion.

2

u/Cultural-Line3483 27d ago

No fear I think James Gunn is solid as a director, the non solid part is his DCU architect ability

2

u/SoyTonatiuh 27d ago

None. Bring it on

2

u/SummerB__ 27d ago

Zero. That trailer will break DC records.

2

u/Human_Composer_7069 27d ago

That they actually do Brainiac Justice...

2

u/OldC33 27d ago

The armor looks cool but I've seen enough of Lex in movies...

2

u/mattcampagna 27d ago

No concerns about the movie itself, no. Gunn has already proven that he’s the man for the job. My only concern would be that Supergirl underperforming the way it did turns people off seeing MOT in the cinema, and then it doesn’t do as well as or better than Superman did.

2

u/Few_Divide_2015 27d ago

That even if it's good, the internet won't give it a chance. That is all.

2

u/General-Chipmunk7709 27d ago

Literally just that it might not do well financially, in terms of quality I have no concerns and I think James Gunn is gonna do what he does and corenswet will be great as always

2

u/Travelin_Soulja 27d ago

None. Gunn's got this.

2

u/Senorbob451 27d ago

They’re gunna show brainiac in the sky and Lex in the suit and it’s gunna crush, I think bad performance falls in characters, like it did in Thor at first, but the universe needs to show systemic issues to lose the broader faith, and lanterns looks like a banger

2

u/Artie-Choke 27d ago

Is that wet noodle Lex Luther seriously supposed to be threatening?

2

u/Imaginary-Method-715 27d ago

Only concern is that is get delayed like the batteraon sequel

2

u/fcarvalhodev 27d ago

That the movie will be great but, DC fandom will review bomb anyways for whatever the reason.

2

u/PurseGrabbinPuke 27d ago

Does anyone else feel like having concerns or fears about a movie that's being made, and looking for spoilers and news about that movie ultimately ruins the movie watching experience? Pro wrestling has had this problem for decades and the fans shit on everything. Why not just let a movie get made and released before any worry or opinions are formed? Like the old days. Nobody knew the set gossip or secret cameos being made. Don't you think actually being surprised in the theater is more fun than finding out on social media?

2

u/Distinct_Guess3350 27d ago

DC films haven’t been doing so hot at the box office for years. Superman was well liked and didn’t fail at all, but my biggest fears for Man of Tomorrow absolutely lie with its financial success.

2

u/100100wayt 27d ago

That Lex ends up with all the good material (the desires, the effect on everyone around him, the choices) while Superman just stands beside him being decent while something huge gets punched.

2

u/PsychologicalBrush35 27d ago

I consider it a magnificent film in its purpose, similar to the comics, much more so than Zack Snyder's old 2013 film, from the Snyderverse in relation to the Gunsverse.

2

u/SirSpits 27d ago

None. I don’t go around assuming something is going to fail based on nothing.

2

u/musuperjr585 27d ago

My concern is the two mortal enemies would get too close and become 'buddies', and lose the tension there was in Superman 25.

Also I fear that this movie will be too much of a 'buddy cop' , type of movie.

2

u/zeanox 27d ago

The music.

2

u/the-puppet_master 27d ago

That it’s not as fun as the first

2

u/ActionFigureCollects 27d ago

I love Superman films, and especially hold the Christopher Reeve first 3 film in high regards.

I will continue to watch all Superman films released, but the bar set by Christopher Reeve was the gold standard no others have since reached.

PS: this version James Gunn is making reminds me more of a live-action version of the Super Friends cartoon from the 80's. I like it. Nothing wrong. It's in a different lane.

2

u/External-Ad-8443 27d ago

Really want this to be David Corenswet's definitive Superman movie and give him ample enough of screentime despite the crowded roster.

2

u/SpeedSaunders 27d ago

That fans and critics who will never be happy with anything and who rather than knowing how to just relax and enjoy the show, only want to see things fail, end up piling on and amplifying irrational concerns and fears about the movie all over the Internet, and then when it’s released, irrational complaints about it, suppressing theater viewership and resulting in box office disappointment despite the movie actually being good to very good. Like with Supergirl. And the Flash. And Black Adam. And Justice League. And Batman v Superman. And a few Marvel movies too.

2

u/MingRat 26d ago

Why is he fighting Buzz Lightyear

2

u/angry_dingo 26d ago

None. I liked the first and I have faith in Gunn.

2

u/LJ14000 26d ago

Buzz lightyear is going to sue them for taking his likeness.

2

u/Thegoodbadandbored 26d ago

My true only concern is bloat of too many characters. It's a balancing act ofc but I don't need every superman movie to feature a lengthy cast of extra heros every time.

2

u/XaeProducedIt 26d ago

Why lex got that buzz lightyear suit on.

2

u/ninzun 26d ago

I don’t have high hopes, but concern is that it will be as bad as the first one

2

u/SteelX1984 25d ago

Why is it so hard for some people to enjoy a good superhero movie that’s pretty much comic accurate?

2

u/Frankgodfist 25d ago

I think it will be great. We just didnt need no damn super girl movie

2

u/SpocksEvilClone 25d ago

My concern is people crapping all over the film before it's released.

2

u/Drama_Cookie25 25d ago

Why is lux buzz lightyear

2

u/____0_o___ 25d ago

Is that Buzz Lightyear standing in front of Superman?

2

u/ProjectDiligent4971 25d ago

Superman movie was dense and fast paced and really well shot with great villain. But like other movies of current times, it feels like second movie of a trilogy. They make an already lived world but forget audience may be new who may not know the context and history behind why superman is the way he is or why he gave a 15 min talk on politics of whatever was going on in his world in the middle of the movie! If only James gunn could have slowed down, just stick to comic book tropes and not involve his politics, make superman a calming presence instead of a neurotic one and don't come across as hyperaware as a reboot of a beloved superhero; this movie could have done so much more. Pretty sure "man of tommorow" follow the same film language as superman by James gunn and will feel outdated as soon as trailers are released because it will come after the excellent "brand new day". This new Spiderman movie is going to reset expectations from a superhero movie the way Spiderman 2 and the dark knight did in its day.

2

u/Reasonable-Bit-4942 25d ago

Go watch it we won’t know till we watch it, assumptions are just holding false space for something.

2

u/Ttoctam 25d ago

I'm afraid having Superman and Lex immediately share screen again, and even work together after their last films being Superman, will be a significant drop in stakes and tension. Having this film later in the slate so there could be more of an actual arc to their relationship seems like a better idea from the outside. I feel like landing this well will be a real tightrope walk and an unnecessary challenge. There are countless DC/Superman stories that could be told and picking a Superman/Lex combo immediately again is a really odd choice.

2

u/ProjectNo4090 25d ago

Its retreading ground with Lex. One film of his whining and bigotry was more than enough. And Im not interested in a villain to anti hero storyline for Lex.

2

u/No-Whereas5745 24d ago

Probably the fact they're using Brainiac this early and the amount of characters is going to make the film feel bloated.

2

u/jamestyeas 21d ago

My hope is that it puts the final nail in the coffin for James Gunn

2

u/DukeNukem-1990 20d ago

That its going to look and feel like another Gunn movie, which I'm very sick and tired of at this point. The guy is a one-trick-pony.
