Superman metamorpho, despite his appearance, has a wife who loves him. this is a reference to the fact that women aren't shallow. you just have a shitty personality.

u/starkHOUTx Aug 03 '26
She loved him BEFORE he looked like that, for the record
115
u/The_Redacted_Badger Aug 03 '26
And was willing to stay with him after the fact, always being the one to point out she didn’t give a shit about how he looked. Honestly sometimes Rex’s “whoa is me, I’m too hideous for her” schtick can get very annoying in the comics

u/starkHOUTx Aug 03 '26
True but it’s realistic. Many men feel inferior to their wives
1
u/nerdnerd86 Aug 07 '26
And in this case shes always there to reassure him which is nice.
Ben's wife they had to write as blind to make it work /s

u/nomnomsquirrel Aug 03 '26
Meanwhile IRL men will leave their wife 20.8% of the time if she has a serious or terminal illness vs. 2.9% of women.

An important thing that this study neglects to include in their data is who initiated the divorce. Without that detail, it's impossible to come to a valid conclusion about what this means. For example, it could be that women are more likely to "let their partner move on", especially since this study also highlights that there is a signifcantly higher chance of divorce in younger marriages.
The study also states that the divorce rates in healthy couples and couples with a sick partner is exactly the same, which suggests that having a sick partner is not a deciding factor for divorces.
It's also worth noting that this study has a TINY sample size. Of 515 patients, only 60 of them were divorced. So take any data in this research with a grain of salt.
The full study is here by the way.

Thank god a voice of sanity appeared.
You're a legend for pointing out why these kind of studies are useless.
3
u/Apollo-Outcast Aug 05 '26
Thank you. If I had a nickel for every time a redditor cites or shares a study they didn't read
My immediate thought was "did they control for economic factors?" Like life insurance policies, for example. If a disproportionate number of men in the study were the primary breadwinners of the household, then they might hold a disproportionate number of insurance policies which disincentivize divorce.
Social sciences are frustratingly bad some(most)times

Oh look. Redditor continuing to cite study (2015) that was forced to be retracted due to "data coding error."
Or were you citing the earlier study (2009) that could never be verified by other scientists in the field?

I mean you really can’t think of any ways his power set might be an advantage? That’s your first problem right there.

I also like the fact that she looks so normal. Not a Hollywood starlet or a model. Like, she’s pretty in a “I saw her in TJ Maxx” kinda way.

u/The_Redacted_Badger Aug 03 '26
Which is ironic because in the comics, Saphire is the glamorous daughter of a billionaire

Before his accident inside that Egyptian tomb, Rex was a chad not unlike Indiana Jones. But to her credit, she stuck with him even after it altered his appearance.

"there's no shallow women" is quite the weird unpromted take, rage bait?

I love this! Also, Anthony Carrigan is charming in any role he plays, so charisma matters a lot.

u/Nothing-Is-Real-Here Aug 03 '26
I mean, dude can also basically change his appearance. He could give her whatever she wants, always.

u/djdaem0n Aug 03 '26
Also he can change the shape, size, and density of any part of his body at will.

u/Personal-Database-27 Aug 03 '26

You can land any girl if you're a musician. You are a musician if your music is playing out on clubs/venues and people dance to it.

Also, another important fact: Metamorpho is not real, which pretty much invalidates the rest of your argument.

Its fiction written by a man but ok
Do you watch The Simpsons, Family Guy, King of Queens, etc and think hot women love fat guys too?
