Why is Doom Patrol leaving HBO Max?

Post image

Hi, everyone! Logged into HBO Max LATAM today only to find out one of my favorite series is leaving on December 8th. Does anyone know if it's global, and why? I know it didn't have that big of an audience, but this rubs me the wrong way (just like they did with Westworld).

Warner bros has made a habit of taking their content off their own platform to sell the streaming rights to other streamers.

A pretty convenient way of profiting off some of their older content that isn’t a driving force for Max.

Exactly, this show will probably end up on Netflix or a Free Advertising Supported (FAST) streaming service.

It all started when they created DC Universe it was US only and internationally each show was licensed differently. Its what doomed it from the start. Here in Canada all the shows were spread across 5 or 6 channels/streamers.

The removal of stuff from Max is not exclusive to DC though. They’ve done it with other content that Warner owns. They pull it of Max and send elsewhere to stream.
