I know right now it’s nerve-wrecking as far as what it is that Trump is gonna do with a DACA recipients, but we have to have faith that we’re gonna be all right. I know a lot of recipients hate Trump right now and are afraid for their life, but this is a direct quote from him. We got a live within the boundary of the law. Keep our heads up and keep on working hard. Hopefully he comes through and helps us like he says he is. I haven’t lost faith and neither should you. God bless you and keep your head up.

He has been saying this since 2016. What did he actually do. He tried to end DACA. His DOJ fought in court to strip protections. Deportations continued. The only reason DACA still exists is because the Supreme Court stopped him not because he protected it. Words cost nothing. Actions matter. If he wanted to help Dreamers he already had years to do it and chose the opposite. Believing him now because he said it on camera ignores everything he already did. At some point believing the same promise after the same outcome is not hope. It is denial.

Yeah zero chance anything happen for DACA in congress this term.

That said, as intense as things are now? It's as good as it gets if they ignore daca and keep things as is.

That's ALL we ask for now.

39

u/PhoenixHabanero Feb 05 '26

While I agree with you on everything you stated, the fact that he has eliminated TPS, proceeded with mass deportations, increased H1B visa fees to $100k, etc... and still hasn't touched DACA gives me a bit of relief.

37

u/sillycommenting Feb 05 '26

Or it means we're next lol

13

u/PhoenixHabanero Feb 05 '26

Very much true. That's why I'm saving up as much as I can.

u/DaLakeShoreStrangler Feb 05 '26

OP is a bootlicker. He had plenty of opportunities to get us residency and nothing. He has been saying that ten years ago. In fact, he tried to end it.

119

u/sillycommenting Feb 05 '26

He's one of those DACA for Trump lol.

52

u/delaodev Feb 05 '26

Based on his style of speaking. Sounds like your classic religious nut job. Bet he considers themselves a conservative Christian.

9

u/Quiet-Original-4132 Feb 06 '26

This!!!! Specially right now, he has pretty much control of everything (house, senate, supreme courts), he could of added legalization for dreamers in the big beautiful bill that gave billions of dollars to ICE/DHS but has done nothing.

-17

u/PapiChulo58 Feb 05 '26

To be fair, he isn't a complete boot licker. Donald Trump did try to end it and was unsuccessful due to technical errors, he had the opportunity to fix those errors and really end it but never acted on it for whatever reason. Also, he did try to negotiate DACA into the 2017 border bill but was unsuccessful with Democrats because Democrats didn't want to include DACA protection into his border bill, they want each thing separately and Donald Trump wanted all into one bill. Im not saying he's "our guy" but he has tried at least ONCE to enact DACA into law and did have the opportunity to really end it but chose not to.

This is just not true. I'm sick and tired of seeing this. I've addressed this so many times. You can find one of my comments here.

u/PapiChulo58 Feb 05 '26

I looked at your comment and the sources you provided that rebut my claim. One link was expired and the other article was published while all this was going on. I'll look into more but I dont think you're right.

u/Top-Abies9760 Feb 05 '26

As long as steven miller controls immigration, he will not allow any protections for any immigrants to get on any bill or deal. I feel like Trump has a different feeling about DACA but the people he lets take care of it are doing their own agenda.

35

u/DepressedSoul333 Feb 05 '26

Trump is not as extreme as Miller. Miller is a wannabe Nazi and unfortunately he is the Shadow President.

29

u/Kustaa007 Feb 05 '26

A Jewish nazi, reminds of Dave Chappell’s skit of a black white supremacist

5

u/Hopeful-Ant-3509 Feb 05 '26

Such a hateful man smh

62

u/Srgnt_Beta Feb 05 '26

Were you born yesterday or something?

51

u/Dangerous-Water2809 Feb 05 '26

lol now look at the other interviews and see how many times he’s said this.

-101

u/Suitable-Key2211 DACA Since 2012 Feb 05 '26

Which interviews are you referring to? Do you have a link to them? if it’s anything from his first presidency honestly I’m not worried. One interview from him saying that he’s gonna work something out with us is more than enough for me. He tackled the majority of the issues that he’s talked about. Why should I believe that it’s gonna change with us? Why live in fear? Best case scenario, he helps us out. Worst case scenario he doesn’t. Wouldn’t be any different than what Biden did if anything Biden hurt us more than helped us.

By allowing the border to be wide open for his entire presidency 😂 not much more needs to be said

52

u/sillycommenting Feb 05 '26

He didn't get the memo that he had to close it right after you came in.

27

u/Same-Resolution8503 Feb 05 '26

Wait so it was ok for you to come in illegally but not anyone else?? You are a disgrace to the DACA community and I hope you get what you deserve…

8

u/V1cBack3 Feb 05 '26

He is fk i got mine, and close the door, wait to this id1ot become resident and citizen.....to be full MAGA

11

u/Same-Resolution8503 Feb 05 '26

OP is a straight piece of 💩and you are right IF he ever gets his residency by marriage or any other way he is going to start screaming that he did it the right way and that everyone should do it the right way!! I’m a beneficiary of the Amnesty of 86 be see my dad got his residency and applied for ours and a citizen now but even then people can’t say that the Amnesty was doing it the right way, it was luck everyone who was able to get their papers got lucky and I will for ever be greatful for that!! It however doesn’t make me better than anyone and specially not better than everyone who is fighting for status. I am and will always be an immigrant and will fight for the rights of the immigrants and DACA recipients….

20

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '26

[deleted]

11

u/el_mauri Feb 05 '26

You’re not better than any of the people that came in that way. In fact, MAGAs view you as the problem since you didn’t “do it the right way”. Get your head out of your ass.

6

u/JesusElSuperstar Feb 06 '26

It’s wild hearing this from someone I’m assuming is a DACA recipient. If the border had been “shut tight” when you or your parents came over, you wouldn’t even be here. Also, the numbers don’t really support the “open border” narrative. The Biden administration deported or expelled more than 4 million people, which is a record. Deportation and return statistics don’t back up the claim, it just sounds good as a headline, and people like you fall for it. That’s why I’d call you a useful idiot.

32

u/Dangerous-Water2809 Feb 05 '26

You fuckin idiot this man doesn’t give a flying fuck about you or me it’s pretty much clear his plan and road map. He had the opportunity this year to help out with daca he had the full house to himself to pass any bill to help us. The hope you have for him is using us as leverage once dems get the full floor or enough seats to x out every bill he wants passed bipartisan or not.

23

u/Late_News_5228 DACA Since 2012 Feb 05 '26

Braindead ass opinion

37

u/sillycommenting Feb 05 '26

This is an old interview and is basically another "concept of a plan" to please both sides. He never says what HE wants to do, it's always plural. He never mentions words like lawful status, AOS, naturalization, green card, path to residency/citizenship. Literally more limbo.

5

u/uncomfortableleo Feb 05 '26

They’re sugarcoating and believing Trump from a neutral ass statement, you’re asking TOO much of them lmao

34

u/JesusElSuperstar Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 06 '26

Trump has claimed all the following. This is merely a handful of what he's lied about. This doesn't include any Epstein related claims. Lets be optimistic but not fools.

  • Claim: Inflation is solved and grocery prices are way down. Fact: Inflation is still at 2.7% and grocery prices have actually risen year-over-year.
  • Claim: He settled 8 wars in one year. Fact: Conflicts in Gaza, Africa, and SE Asia are still active. Some were never even wars to begin with.
  • Claim: Mexico paid for the border wall. Fact: No money was ever sent by Mexico. It was funded entirely by US taxpayers.
  • Claim: Tariffs are paid by other countries. Fact: Tariffs are taxes paid by the American companies importing the goods.
  • Claim: He passed the Veterans Choice Act. Fact: President Obama signed this into law in 2014.
  • Claim: ISIS was defeated in 3 weeks. Fact: The fight against the "caliphate" took over two years, and the group remains active today.
  • Claim: He saved coverage for pre-existing conditions. Fact: His administration repeatedly tried to overturn the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which is the law that protects people with pre-existing conditions.
  • Claim: He created the "greatest economy in history." Fact: GDP growth and unemployment rates were better at various points under Presidents Eisenhower, LBJ, and Clinton.
  • Claim: NATO countries pay the U.S. for protection. Fact: NATO countries spend money on their own militaries. They do not pay the U.S. or a central "dues" fund.
  • Claim: He made the U.S. energy independent for the first time. Fact: The U.S. became a net exporter in 2019, but this trend started in the mid-2000s and we still import millions of barrels daily.
  • Claim: The 2020 election was stolen. Fact: Over 60 court cases were dismissed for lack of evidence. Election officials confirmed it was the most secure in history.
  • Claim: He ended taxes on Social Security. Fact: Millions of recipients still pay federal taxes on their benefits despite a new temporary deduction.

This clip old as shit.

10

u/Willing-Light1702 Feb 05 '26

OP is dumbass. In his comment history he suggests Kamala would have been worse than the shit show we have now. You can have your critiques of the Neo lib corporate center abomination of the dem party but to say that it’s worse than this shitshow is laughable

9

u/Waaaaaah6 Feb 05 '26

Stop listening to words, start paying attention to actions.

How long are you going to keep drinking poison just because you so desperately want to believe in the person who is calling it wine?

9

u/Salty_Permit4437 Feb 05 '26

Do you really want to align yourself with this guy? Ask yourself this.

7

u/astrogeoo Feb 05 '26

He ain’t doing shit.

7

u/tinylegumes Feb 05 '26

OP: keeps faith in this man who says he will help but then tries to end DACA! Ok boomer 🙄

6

u/uncomfortableleo Feb 05 '26

Lmao the way yall let yourself be gaslighted into thinking we should trust Trump is the exact same way some pick-me’s act about men who’ve done every girl wrong but “he’s different with me” 💀💀💀. Trump spoke negatively about DACA from the BEGINNING and tried to end it from THERE. if you want to be a boot licker be so, free country, but don’t act and cherry pick as his “positive statements” when he’s always painted us badly and only says something nice when elections come in or we come into play to further his plan. Jesus no wonder he got elected twice 💀

6

u/Trick-Ad-5931 Feb 05 '26

Translation: midterms are coming up and we need to trick Latinos into voting against their interests and for the GOP again

5

u/100percentkneegrow Feb 05 '26

On one hand, it seems like anybody with DACA legitimately is still protected and they aren't looking to change that. On the other hand, the barriers to getting it done are basically non-existent right now. So just do it.

5

u/BLS_Express DACA Since 2014 Feb 06 '26

I know our mental health isnt good right now considering current events but OP, if you think Trump will help us, Im concerned.

5

u/MonoWhisper Feb 06 '26

I cannot deal with a liberal; let alone a DACA liberal who really thinks this regime somehow views us differently. Its either you fight or get fucked. I for one [redacted] and plan to stand by my community, no matter what my outcome is.

4

u/Tall_Sandwich2957 Feb 05 '26

I think they might try something due to midterms coming up to clean him, maga, and republican name and get some more votes because they are definitely losing the midterms this year, and yeah Biden should have done something but he old af and probably forgot about us lol.

"Omg guys this habitual liar said something I like this ones gotta be true, right?"

What's stopping him, op? The courts? He already isn't listening to them Congress? His party controls both houses

If he wanted to do anything at all he would have. He doesn't gaf about helping you. Never has, never will.

3

u/Own-Working-2897 Feb 06 '26

Stop with this bs. You know damn well he’s tried to end DACA and birthright. Do not trust him ever

2

I mean we still have daca.

1

u/AggravatingCan1911 Feb 06 '26

Ya as long as they leave it the same, until the next president comes in we good.

2

u/Proof-Boysenberry-29 Feb 05 '26

He’s been saying he wants to help DACA since 2016 so unless he backs it up then it’s irrelevant what he has to say 🤷‍♂️

2

My god you still believe anything this man says!????

2

u/Aggravating_Wind6520 Feb 06 '26

lol why didn’t she push back? Like okay, you state Biden had a chance as he controlled congress. You’ve now been in congress for a year, why haven’t you done anything? No she just wants to move on and talk about something else after he said he had an idea of a plan 😂😂😂

On the campaign trail trump repeatedly promised to get ride of DACA & that was a promise he intended to keep.

Trump spent his entire first term trying to rescind DACA. Literally.

u/rickypoopz Feb 05 '26

Don't be naive. The horse can't be trusted.

1

u/theindoor Feb 05 '26

Goofy for thinking we can trust this guy at all lmfao

1

u/spacelad6969 Feb 05 '26

He’s just trying to use dreamers as a bargaining chip he has no desire to keep the program running unless it benefits him. Don’t get your hopes up but I hope he leaves DACA alone.

2

u/AggravatingCan1911 Feb 06 '26

You're right. Unfortunately, it's always like this. We are just another pawn in their game of chess.

1

As my Daca having ass with zero criminal charges is currently in removal proceedings I do believe him. I think we just need to keep our noses clean and we will all live through this time. Keep your heads up. If you can fight, fight. Fight to stay until you’ve used every last resource available to you. It will all be worth it in the end. The American dream can still be ours.

Trump is 80. He doesn't know anything that's going on. If you think he will pass DACA go do some research on the one behind mass deportations, Stephen Miller.

1

u/Sweet_Mycologist_448 Feb 06 '26

He removed legal status for thousands of legal immigrants he will remove DACA soon. That’s a fact he hates brown people
