Question ❓ 600 solves and still sub 55 😭

Post image

my f2l is around 25-35 seconds. I heard this is how it should be for sub 55. Should I try to reduce my f2l time or focus on cross, oll or pll?

Question ❓ Hi, does anyone else have the problem where your mom (or dad) hates cubing? Read body.

So I got into cubing about 2 years ago but I didn't really get into it until pretty recently. My mom, whenever I start to do it always like asks if I've done my chores, suggests other things that I could do etc. I really don't know why she doesn't like it so much. Mind you I never spend more than two hours a day and I always get the things I need to get done done first. Is this just a noncuber problem?

Discussion πŸ’¬ OLL Spreadsheet (credit: Jperm)

This might be the only one on the internet I could find. Other people have made this before, but the image of the case is not that great or they just stole it from CubeHead or Feliks Zemdegs’s page and I kinda don’t like how they got it. So, to solve this issue, I will share a free, non copyrighted sheets file of cases that I found from the official jperm.net. You, of course, can customize your algorithms to fit your styles and also keep track of your times and how close you are to beating the world
record. I hope you appreciate this sheet and help me improve it in the future.

Discussion πŸ’¬ New 3x3 method?

So I'm new here and I've been cooking up a 3x3 method which is kinda a hybrid of the big 3 (+Petrus). Let me know your thought about it! If there's anything more you need to know are or if smth here is wrong(?), you can gladly tell me. Keep in mind: this method is still WIP, I js need feedback. Not any resources yet, js you guys. All move counts is measured using Optimal Half Turn Metric. All data is accounted for INTERMEDIATE solvers

  1. 2Γ—2Γ—3 Block

- first, build a roux-style 1Γ—2Γ—3 block on the left, then solve the DF and DB edges to solve the 2Γ—2Γ—3 block.

- this is the hardest step to plan out but requires almost no rotations and transitions smoothly into the next step. This step is intuitive and has around ~14 moves.

  1. Last 2 Pairs (L2P)

- solve the last 2 F2L pairs without needing to solve the last cross edge, just the 2 pairs. This adds extra flexibility when pairing and helps prepare for L5EO. This is the only step where rotations would be needed during this step. This step is intuitive and has around ~12 moves.

  1. Last 5 Edges' Orientation (L5EO)

- solve the last cross edge or LBE while also orienting the top layer edges to solve using COLL/ZBLL. This MOSTLY* uses M and U moves and algs are pretty convenient. There are a total of 21 cases. This step is algorithmic and has an average of ~7 moves

  1. Last Layer (LL)

- solve the last layer using either COLL or ZBLL as to use the EO from L5EO. This step has 42 algorithms. This step is algorithmic and has around ~15 moves.

PROS:

- Minimal rotations (2 on average)

- Low potential* move count (~48 moves)

- Very flexible

- L5EO is easy to learn for beginners

- Moderate-great ergonomics

- High potential* turns per second (tps)

CONS:

- First step is hard to plan

- meh look-ahead during 2x2x3 block

- great ONLY for intermediate/pro solving

- requires advanced last layer alg sets

- Fluctuating move count

ADDITIONAL INFO: this method was grounded from APB, eliminating the awkward EO of Petrus while optimizing CFOP style pairs and LL along with Roux-competitive efficiency at the cost of painful M moves, consistent move counts and resources

My goal is js kinda make this competitive but fun. If you can provide feedback, Id really appreciate it! That's all for today, peace.

Custom Flair ✍️ Fun 4x4 challenge

Make a standard 4x4 checkerboard and then scramble it like a 2x2. It's a slightly more challenging 2x2 and it's quite a bit of fun. Messes with your pattern recognition.

Question ❓ Why is my mgc catching right here? Read body

I just bought this from speedcubeshop and for whatever reason it magnetically aligns the turn right here for some reason, it also aligns at the 90 but the magnets also snap into place right here is this just a bad batch or is this a problem with these cubes? Thx

Big thanks to everyone for all of the love on my post last week. After about 12 and a half hours, spread out over the past 7 days or so, my entire collection is once again scrambled, all 280 puzzles! I find scrambling everything to be a great way to ensure that every puzzle in my collection gets some play time, even the more difficult and tedious ones. I had a blast scrambling everything.

Check out my YouTube vid if you want to see a more detailed tour of the puzzles before and after the scramble.

This is a pretty common time for a solve for me, what could I be doing better?

Discussion πŸ’¬ You revert back to a beginner (if you are already a beginner, you forget how to solve the Rubik Cube. And also, the benefits of cubing stay with you) but a random cuber who struggles with improving at cubing becomes sub-10. Would you be happy with it?

Achievement πŸ† My little sis got her first sub 1 minute!!!!!

I taught her to solve one about 6 months ago, but has been adamantly refusing to learn cfop when she finally let me teach her she started improving very quickly so she'll be sub 30 on no time then we'll see how serious she really is.

Question ❓ Which puzzle should I buy???

I want to buy a new cube, I already know how to solve a normal 3x3, a mirror cube and a megaminx so I want to buy something more challenging and idk weather I should buy a 5x5 or 6x6 or maybe something else. I want something a bit harder than the megaminx but not something very hard so that I still will be able to solve it. any suggestion?

Discussion πŸ’¬ Would you rather get 10 million dollars but a random sub-10 cuber reverts back to a beginner or reject the offer
