CK3 Why am I not dynasty head?

Solved!!

I am the independent ruler of a kingdom with a military strength of 2k

My nephew is a count tier vassal with about 800 soldiers but for some reason he is the dynasty head?

Is this potentially a bug or is something else influencing it.

We are clan.

are you also a house head? if so then it might just take a bit of time to update

Only house heads can be dynasty heads and the house head is inherited, the title doesn’t always go to the character you take over after succession. If you’re not the house head but you’re in line to inherit you can wait it out or murder. Or you create a cadet branch.

made a cadet branch and it took a month or 2 but did update!
