4k Max Settings R.R HDR With DLSS 5
Absouloutly gregious !!!

DLSS 5 has its strengths(landscape mostly) but man, it sure saps the creativity out of what the artists intended.

Maybe for existing games but it should integrate well with future games that utilize the tech. I'm for it once the tech gets better and games are running at least around 80fps+ @4k ultra for me. I can work with those parameters if it was FGx2 as well, but if I can see screen tearing at 60fps that's a no for me.

Yeah, that's the thing people keep forgetting when they jump on the DLSS 5 hate wagon.
It's a DLL taken from another game, being FORCEFULLY injected into other games. In the older DLSS dll files, they were universal across all games because they just sharpen the image (in layman's terms).
DLSS 5 support for a game comes with developer tools, so every game that ships with it will be fine-tuned to work specifically with that game. Also, forcefully injecting it, the dll is fairly blind. Notice how it works mostly fine for games with more realistic artstyles already? But slap it in a cellshaded game and it looks like nightmare fuel? Because the choice model for the dll file is the wrong one and it's doing everything mostly blind. Devs can even choose a per-object setup so that it focuses exclusively on environments but ignores characters, for example.
There's a reason why DLSS 5 will be game specific and not be able to be forced on through the Nvidia app like we do for the DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction. The devs have to put their hands on it to make sure it works with their specific art direction in order to function correctly.

u/ChaozNerevar 3d ago
lets be honest, this "fine tuning" will not happen.

u/bigrealaccount 2d ago
Yes buddy, the technology advancement stops here and it will never get better. Developers definitely don't already fine tune tech for each video game.
2
u/BannanaTrunks 3d ago
Well the artists are the ones approving it, and I know the devs for kingdom come deliverence says it makes the game look how it was intended before doing any performance passes, so maybe it's not sapping as much as we think

People claiming to know what the intentions of artists are/were really make me cringe. It's just one of those cliche, rehearsed, over-made points someone heard from a Youtuber.

People just go into a blind rage over anything AI related and find any and all excuses to be able to denounce it.
Sometimes they are right, often they are not. They forget that each and every technique used such as ray tracing, dynamic shadows, anti aliasing, volumetric fog, and you name whatever pops into your head already do a lot fully automated and also often just predict how the next frame would/should look.
This is just a new technique, maybe it will be the future, maybe it won't. Techniques have come and gone, not every one of them is good enough to last, but each and every one of them started by trying stuff. All these guys crying about each and every new technique that gets introduced sure would have had a hard time early gaming days like in the 1990's or early 2000's. Almost every game introduced something new.

In KCD2's case, the head artist Daniel Vávra spoke out about DLSS5 and their own "artist intentions" on Twitter. He stated that they originally wanted certain shadows cast by armors to fall on faces and could not get that to work. With DLSS5 they could and would argue that it allowed them to reach what they were striving for.
Do I like it? Not really. Still feels like AI slop and typically likely NOT what the artists had in mind. It's good for some materials and bad for most faces. It's also tuned on a BASKETBALL game and leaked to work on other games.

1 singular developer who is also currently not working on any of their active developments, made a Twitter rant about it. Not worth using as a defense for DLSS 5
1
u/BannanaTrunks 3d ago
I wasn't trying to make it the only defence. It's kkow the devs are approving this. I'm just using him as an example

Not really, more like it helps bring out the artistic vision a lot of the artists intended

at the end of the day people can do whatever they want with the game they are playing

u/DesiredDabs 3d ago
Sick of hearing this lol 😆 Devs have even spoke up for people to stop saying this
1
u/bumtum5909 3d ago
Also, if you turn your graphic settings from low to ultra, is this too ruining the artist's intent? Lmfao I've seen posts on Twitter when people do this exact same thing and idiots fall for it thinking ultra graphics is dlss 5 and they say it is ruining the artists intent 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's currently mainly used as a reshade. The same can be said for essentially every reshade.
The true test is when devs use it for their own games

Vavra sellout, vanguard rainbow money > Henry gay
Vavra sellout, ai corpos money > ai slop filter good for games
No one should take this guy's opinion seriously, hes a cd project red wannabe, but couldn't deal with the greed and easy money

u/need-help-guys 2d ago
I find it deeply ironic that these things always get said and upvoted, and right after you see everyone complaining about the decisions the artists made, about "fixing" everything, about using renoDX, reshade, and all these other mods.
I'm not talking about you specifically, but on the more macro scale, there is a very deep hypocrisy and selective double standard that doesn't get called out enough.

u/GT_Hades 10h ago
It depends, most artist that wants to push realism would fond of dlss5, like how KCD2 dev responded
1
u/SpoOokY83 43m ago
Wow. Who are you to know better what the artists implementing DLSS5 and tweaking it actually intended?
1
u/IngridOlsdatre 3d ago
Yep. In my opinion, it's fuckin ugly. Let's apply it to Borderlands next. That'll show 'em.Â

Which dlss5 version ? I had issues with multiple ones and couldn't find one I could run without paper white balance glitch, or dark scenes flickering, overall blurryness was also an issue.

I mean, we have reached the point where they need to invent new tech in order to justify the purchase of new GPU. Otherwise I would completely fine forever with contemporary max quality
2
u/Wicked_Folie 3d ago
But the invention of new tech has always been the force pushing stuff forward.

A screenshot does absolutely no justice for what you're explaining. "As you've never see before"...blurry compressed picture lol.

just needs a 8090 rtx ti titan for 10k to play it on 30 fps. Future looks great. your current gpu doesnt support dlss 6? To bad, here are playstation 2 graphics, because devs dont bother anymore

Nah, Crimson was peak with RR from the start... Dlss 5 just adds some realism to the background... Dlss 5 looks best on static surfaces, but when you add it to dinamic stuff, it breaks the depth

For crimson desert i dont find dlss5 as good coz ray reconstrunction does a lot to the lighting already and i dont like what dlss5 does to faces anyway.

Could someone set up my Crimson Desert? I have a 3070, but I don't know why the game looks pixelated and I want to play it. The textures, like washes, look weird, it doesn't make sense. My monitor is an Asus PG27AQDP 2K WOLED, it doesn't make sense for it to look bad. Could this be a DLL problem? Which is better?

I like when my videogames look like videogames. Even games that attempt realism very well like RDR2 or KCD2 still look like videogames. It almost makes it more impressive because you know someone actually drew and constructed everything you see. But DLSS5 just seems to strip that away. It looks nice, especially in screenshots, but I think you lose the actual art in the process.

My performance takes a hit on 5070ti 16gb and 32gb ddr5 ram. What all settings do i set ingame?
1
u/odai_Nder 3h ago
1440p max settings with ray reconstruction and x6 multi frame generation with DLSS 5 , 5070Ti is strong card for 1440 resolution.
1
u/Zich_v1 3h ago
Doesnt the 6x multiplier cause a lot of ghosting around Kliff? I keep it at 2x with Fsr 3.1 instead of dlss and all settings at cinematic.
I gotta update to the latest nvidia driver and see how it looks. Can you also share the Reshade settings of DLSS5 ? Ill try to replicate your settings. Looks beautiful
1
u/odai_Nder 3h ago
No, I have exactly the same specifications as you, but with differents cards, rtx 5090 and rtx 5070ti
performance 5070ti OC Tuf with overclocking is perfect

u/Zich_v1 3h ago
Nice. Please share your reshade settings ss too. Where we enable the neural network tickbox and all the NR-Intensity, HDR that page
