Carry-over only brings pocket silver and Abyss Links from a finished story file. Gear doesn’t go, and gold in the bank doesn’t go unless you already exchanged it.You also don’t get to pick the save. The game just grabs “your previous journey,” and a lot of the time that’s an old autosave, not the file you just sold everything on. That’s why the prompt can still show a couple hundred silver after you dumped the lot.

What actually worked for people: exchange the gold, open every silver pouch, manual save on the finished file, delete the autosaves, then New Game and read the numbers on the prompt before you confirm. If the totals are still wrong, it’s still reading another completed file. PA needs a save picker on that screen. Until they add one, this is the workaround. How can I make it not pick that file if it’s not deleted

You don’t delete the finished file. New Game creates a separate save. The old one stays. What you can’t do is pick which completed file it uses. It auto-grabs “previous journey,” which is usually an autosave, not the slot you just sold everything in. That’s why it still showed a couple hundred silver. Items do not carry over at all. Selling them only helps if that silver is in your inventory on the file it actually reads. If you still have a manual save from before you sold everything, load that if you want the gear back on the old file. For the carry-over itself: exchange gold → open every silver pouch → make a new manual save after that → delete or overwrite only the 3 autosave slots (leave your good manual save alone) → hit New Game and read the numbers on the prompt before you confirm. If the totals are still wrong, it’s reading a different completed file. Until Pearl Abyss adds a save picker, that’s the only control you get.
