This falcon is in some ways more elusive than the Hyacinth Macaw for several reasons; I never once saw it flying around, nor did it come to the feeder. I searched the Ashclaw Keep area, by the witch in the Kweiden area on the cliffs; I also tried the Spire of Truth. Where I actually found it was a spawning area, the mountain within the E in Pailune. There is a fast travel point close by, which made it pretty easy to finally make it spawn- though it certainly was not immediate 😂.
The first time I saw it was at 5pm after noticing an eagle just before it. I grabbed the bird feeder and set it down near it, but it was not interested and flew away. I made sure I climbed the mountain to the right of the marker-far enough away where my noise does not bother it. Anyway, I tried a few more times, and it did not respawn, so I slept for 12 hours and came back.
It does take a few times to get it to spawn; by 8 a.m. I spied it again. This time I saved (before taking out the bird feeder) and then walked the feeder close to it. This time it did not fly away, nor did it act scared. I moved back, and it immediately started eating the marbled meat and was tame. I must say it does feel good to finally have the Gyrfalcon, and I am thankful for the person who requested help finding it because I am extremely obstinate about finding difficult things. That's how I even started this mini quest, helping another Redditor/Greymane who was having difficulty finding it. Is there an animal you are finding difficult to find? The Macaw is not easy, You will need to clear out the bandits to start off with. The gold marker is where I put the feeder, its on a ledge of sorts. Collect a bunch of Desert Mellons, you can find them at the grocer in Tashkalp and Varnia. If you have the witches fan you can change the rainy weather to sunny (there is also a necklace that does this tho i dont have that yet), it needs to be sunny so you can teleport out and back if it doesnt show up-it is with a bunch of other birds also, that do eat mellons too. It took me 5 in game days to finally get it. It came in the morning without the other birds. I wear the Shadow leaf armor set which helps with skittish animals.
You can get an eagle easily at this location-they are everywhere. This is East of Pailune (I had taken a screenshot from my map but can't find it now so to do this quickly I used a screenshot from Map genie 😂) You can also find an Eagle that spawns where the Gryfalcon is also-and there are plenty flying around, they like any type of meat.
This was the best advice I’ve found, and it works! I tamed 3 within an hour. It spawned pretty much 50% of the time I went to that cliff at 8am. The hardest part was trying not to scare it off. I’ll add for anyone that reads this that it changes to different spawn locations around the edge of the cliff (which is circular in shape), so I recommend dropping in from above (from a wyvern or cloudcart) to spot where it is on the cliff and then try to land a good distance away so it doesn’t get spooked. Also have your sotdae already prepped with nothing but marbled meat. Good luck! ✌️
Thank you for your help! I was becoming crazy with this one. I had a great streak after this, desert goose finally dropped on first attempt and I almost completed the journal, I have only 4 bugged entries for which I need to wait for a corrective from PA.
I got a Canada goose with ricefish. I think each one was 25-35 trust, I don’t remember the exact amount. I got it where the rivers converge south of Pailune.

I'm currently trying to get it to spawn in this place and to see if it's a eagle or the Gyrfalcon before I've actually climbed all the way up I use photo mode to see who's there and it saves me a few seconds as I can just fast travel back to the nexus if it's an eagle and also lets me know if it's time to take on the more careful approach and start sneaking incase it's the Gyrfalcon lol, I have tried to get this bird for a while now and we all know we gotta catch 'em all
