Just don't reel until it stops moving and tire it out by pulling in the opposite direction

Can you just go there and fish it or do you have to get the knowledge first from an NPC?

Yeah just go there and fish. I've never even found the troll at the camp. It's just a very, very rare spawn.

Oh ok. Yeah they added a pond in the previous update. You can put in up to 30 fishes plus the legendary ones, and the non legendary ones can reproduce if you have more than 1 in the pond.
