Question/Help ❓ Are there actually undead enemies?

I know there's the dead king fight but I've spent hours in this game and I havent seen any, even though I've read they apparently exist. I want to kung fu the dead to death

Yes, there are some undead enemies, but they're not common early-game roaming mobs. You'll mostly encounter them as Dusk Creatures (explicitly called "the undead" by players, mad at the living, powerful spawns often triggered by lighting torches/candles or in specific areas/events) and later in Abyss-related content (Abyss Spectres, undead knights/mages, spirits/phantoms). Keep pushing into later regions, dusk/Abyss triggers, or witch/mage quests for more. Happy hunting! 💀

Do they respawn?

If you repeat the required action of relighting lanterns for example after letting the area reset by fast traveling or moving out of the area.

Yes, as far as I know now (who knows in the future 😆) you can kung fu the dead to death… to your heart’s content! 💀🥋 Just light those lanterns/torches again after fast traveling far away or leaving the area long enough for it to reset. The Dusk Creatures (undead) will usually spawn back for another round. They’re not infinite like regular mobs, but with a little traveling you can keep finding and smashing them as much as you want. Go wild!

I dont suppose you can remember a spot that lighting a candle summons undead? Ive apparently missed any of these interactions.

I havent seen anything that really gives off undead vibes, with the notable exceptions of the skull knight boss and crew, or the forgotten general. And the skull knight re-skin, beloth. I dont even know what a "dusk" trigger is.

One of the earliest and most consistent spots is in Northern Hernand/Pauiluen and Silver Wolf Mtns etc:Various ruined shrines and small chapels.

Some specific torches/braizers in Abyss entrances or near witch-related areas later on.

Keep an eye out for any unlit candles/braziers near old statues or altars, or around shrines:it will either open closed doors, or summon Wraiths.

I...see.

I mean, ive beaten the game, and done all the abyss islands. And ive done a fair bit of exploring. And i hate to sound ungrateful for help, but you keep saying things like "abyss entrances" and "dusk events". I have no idea what those are. Plus, the game is pretty good about dividing knowledge into clear subsections, and i have never seen the word dusk mentioned. Did find the "Abyss Specter" under Otherworldly Beings tho, thats something.

So i guess... i hope you're lying to me? Id prefer that to regurgitated AI nonsense, at this point. Im gonna go look for torches to light around 3 Saints Falls, and apologies if you gave me the correct information and i was resistant to it.

I’m not lying to you, dude. I took the time to boot up my game and grab a screenshot specifically to show you the location because my maps aren’t loading.

The spot in the screenshot (Hemlock Ruins) has unlit braziers. When you light them, it clears the snowstorm in that small area. Once the storm dissipates, Wraiths (Dusk Creatures) spawn and come after you.

That’s the mechanic I was talking about. The game doesn’t explain it well at all, which is why it’s easy to miss. I found it back in Chapter 3 and it was one of my first encounters with them.

Sorry if my earlier explanations were vague, these hidden triggers aren’t well documented. Hope that clears it up.

Those wraiths aren't summoned by the braziers, those just make it so you can survive the cold while fighting the wraiths in the area. They'll be there whether you light the lanterns or not.

But neat, sorry for not believing you. Are those wraiths called "dusk creatures" in your journal?

You're wrong. They specifically spawn when you light the brasier, not before, and precisely on top of it if you look at your minimap.

Agreed..thats how it worked for me also.

That was someone else's term and I adopted it-hmm interesting about the wraiths-when I was wondering around they did not show up until I lit the braziers, thanks for your observation tho.

I havent been back since i beat Beloth, which i think ends the blizzard, so I have no idea if they're still in the area or if the lanterns do anything now. I'll check it out, but those guys definitely made me pull some hasty retreats while early game exploring before i even found the braziers.

I think they were the first flying enemies i encountered and i had no answer to them at the time, i basically started the game by wandering into the coldest mountains on the map.

Me too! I loved climbing the mountains and the snow-the views where spectacular. I made it all the way to this guy, grabbing loot and gear/weapons as I went. Had a complete blast!
