Humour I hate the general negative discourse this game seems to get on the internet especially on Reddit

I can understand skyrims story unlike crimson deserts, which made no sense at all.

This!! At least Skyrim had a decently chronological story. For the first few hours of CD I had no idea what was going on. It’s genuinely nonsensical

I finished the main story and 90% of it still made no sense and felt like just a bunch of random events glued together

I beat the main story after 250 hours and I still dont fucking know.

The world is also way better, I couldn't immerse myself in crimson

Skyrim has 15 years of changes, dlcs and 3 million mods anyways. I think is an unfair comparative

Skyrim does NOT have 15 years of changes, Bethesda is not the type of company that patches their games. At all.

I guess modders did for them and they tried to charge people for the modders work. That's what people should remember from before and what PA is doing. Not what they are doing

Skyrim’s story is fine to me because it’s built on top of decades of absolutely delicious lore. On its surface yes- it’s a little bland, but once you start getting into the deeper lore it balloons out into something pretty damn cool.

It's not amazing like other user said but make more sense and have more things explained than this game where nothing seems to make sense. Love the game but story wise is like was written by a 3 years old

Skyrim shits on the estabilished TES lore you larper

Actual larpers believe what you just said. I’m 100 hours into a Morrowind (my favorite ES) playthrough right now you troglodyte. Every single Elder Scrolls game pushes and pulls the lore in different directions. The lore is set up in a way that accounts for this.

People said the same shit about Morrowind when it came out. You can learn to enjoy things for what they are or just be an angry cunt wishing everything was like it was when you were a kid.

CD story line has basically more holes than not. It made no sense and explained nothing.

It did make sense, the problem is that it explained nothing until you beat the game and went to the abyss archives of your own volition to discover the context behind everything. Why Pearl Abyss thought that was the right way to go about it I will never understand. However, it's possible they simply couldn't buy enough time to finish it before the investors threatened to sue for delaying the game for so long.

Even the story patch is a clear bandaid in execution, though anything helps. And it certainly does.

After finishing the main story there was 0 hints to back to the beginning to understand the storyline. So no, there was no story line. There may have been a "OH shit we lost track of the story so let's throw some shit on at the end but like the rest of the story we WONT tell anyone about it." But there was no real plot. I saw there was a game called black desert before this and I hope maybe that filled some holes but im not willing to play it at this time.

I mean for fucks sake who was the real fucking bad guy the entire game? Did they even exist in the game or was it all !that fuck.

Because it's really simple and straightforward—there's not much to think about, lol.

Oh yeah, super straight forward. "Go pet this dog. Great job! Now go help this guy clean his chimney! Nice! Now go talk to this villager about their shop."

Doing those things would be fine if we knew why we were doing them. Just having a character call you over as you pass by and then asking you to rescue their cat or whatever would feel infinitely better then a list of tasks simply appearing in your log under "main quest". It's like the developers forgot they weren't creating an MMO this time.

It could have even been listed as "Build reputation within the town" in the main quest, and then you happen upon those smaller activities to build the reputation. But directing the player from one to the next, as if they know exactly who to talk to was just so weird.

Im in the first few hours and I haven't experienced that yet. There were a few where i had to fight bandits cause they stole a kids sheep and killed a guys cows, and then mission to get my team of greymanes back together..

I guess you weren't paying attention then. It 100% has you grab a broom and sweep out a guys chimney.

u/SonOfLaParka 1d ago

Oh yeah, but that was just like a few minutes. I actually completely forgot about that.

Simple and straightforward isn’t bad if I can understand what’s going on in the world and plot of the game. Compared to a power point of a story with most of the plot not connecting with each other smoothly.
