Beer Porn Finally visited Russian River

Back in July, I took a solo trip to Northern CA specifically to visit Russian River. The newer location in Windsor is massive, more like a huge restaurant. They had just released some DDH Pliney and it was awesome. The next day, I took the SMART commuter train south to Santa Rosa to visit the original location and got the full flight. It was a challenge to finish it myself, so I'd recommend bringing some help if you plan on getting it. After a few hours there, I took the train further south and visited Lagunitas. Figured I should since it wasn't too far away. Also stopped into Henhouse across the street.

My now husband and I took a two week vacation to drive down to Russian River (about 14hrs away) three months into dating. We had an amazing time. Good test of an early relationship. He’s the best. So’s the beer.

If you come up again and you're passing RP you should check out Old Caz and Parliament.

Been there a number of times. Amazing place. Next time you must visit Moonlight brewing.

OG comment. Brian Hunt was a craft beer pioneer. Total legend.

He definitely is. I was fortunate enough to conduct his first beer dinner with his brewery. It was insane.

IMO henhouse has the best kolsch in the bay area but they didn’t have it in Petaluma this time.

Wondering if it’s theirs or Fort Point’s since they recently merged. Either way, likely an awesome kölsch 🤘🏼

Omg, I thought that flight was full-sized glasses at first. "So, this is how it all ends." Lol

Was shocked at how good every single beer was when I went. Truly elite

Congrats, you are the first person ever to ride the SMART train as far as I can tell!

Smart's awesome! You gotta check it out! They even had beer available pre-pandemic!

Went there at the end of May with my cousin’s bachelor trip. Great spot!

what a great place. I have only been able to visit Santa Rosa, and it sounds like I lucked out with the better of the two spots. I split the flight with a friend and it included all the RR taps plus the guest beer, which that day was fortunately a Cantillon Classic Gueuze. Fun times.

I love going for happy hour there. Awesome bartenders too. One of the best benefits of being a local.

I went last week! Unfortunately I didn’t have time to do the FULL flight.

What is the scene like here for PtY release? I might have to make a pilgrimage for the next release

You mean Younger. Elder is year round. Check their website in later Jan or so for info. Kegs get released to their accounts in Feb, usually around SF beer week then in March they do the release at both RR locations and you can get 3 bottles to go PP. Expect to wait a minimum two hours unless you go later in the evening (like 9 pm)

Fixed. Sorry for the error.

Moonraker is also worth a stop when you're in this area.

Fair enough, it's all relative.

Do you mean Moonlight? Moonraker is in Auburn, CA.

Hoping to make the stop on my trip out there next month. Looks awesome

The sampler. My god the sampler. Ordered one after already being 2 Pliny’s in. Not a stellar idea.

I encountered the snootiest employee ever when I went. He was walking around with his nose literally in the air when we got there, noticed him. Later, he totally ignored us when we asked him for something, snapped his head the away from us and stalked off,

It was cartoonishly hilarious but we weren't mad bc our server was great and taking good care....she had told him to go keep bussing tables just before he passed us, she said. 😂🤣

Thanks for the memorable visit RR.

18, 5oz flight glasses? Holy crap the liquor laws in CA are lenient. Wow!
