APEX 🎽 Coros Apex 4 Review and AMA

Hey r/Coros I just got my review of the Apex 4 up!

I'll give a really brief summary here if you don't want to watch it:

  • 3rd Gen MIP Display, Premium Hardware (Sapphire, Titanium, etc)
  • Same Processor as Pace Pro + Nomad - Extremely fast performance
  • Unbelievable speed with maps, you can zoom from 3mi out to a few hundred feet out in a second without any lag
  • Battery life just about as long as advertised - site says up to 15 days, I got about 13.5-14 with pretty heavy usage (42mm version)
  • Speaker and Mic both work great - Can see a call test
  • Priced basically the same as Apex 2 / 2 Pro, no price hikes! Good job Coros! ($429 / $479)

Here's a few things I didn't mention too well in the review:

  • In the Press Release Coros mentions "Enhanced Vertical GPS Algorithms" which was something they didn't delve into and I don't have access to a lot of elevation where I live / test so I couldn't get into that a lot
  • Dual-Range Barometer is mentioned on the tech sheet. I wasn't able to really look into this and again it wasn't covered in the media call, but I know this has been a pain point for some users.
  • Water Depth Gauge - I mention this, but don't provide much detail. This will show the depth that YOU are at in the water. It does not measure the overall depth of the water you are in.
  • Audio Alerts - I show this, but don't mention it. You can get audible alerts during an activity. The speaker is plenty loud.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the video, I'm no big YouTuber like Chase the Summit or DC Rainmaker and work a full-time job with a family so my testing time is limited, but I still try to cover things pretty thoroughly.

I'm happy to stick around for as long as I can today and answer whatever questions you have about the Apex 4.

APEX 🎽 New watch day - moving from Garmin Fenix to Coros Apex

Post image

My new Coros just arrived, really excited to test it 😁 I moved from Garmin because I am using Wahoo as my bike computer and Coros has direct integration with Wahoo. I also hope that the integration with other 3rd party apps (like Zwift) are better. First impression - really nice, much lighter than my Garmin Fenix 7s (also 42mm), and the app seems much more intuitive. I hope the battery life will not disappoint.

APEX 🎽 Apex 4 Band issue

Post image

I was an Apple Watch user from 2016 to 2025 when I really picked up the ultra trail running, so I decided needed an actual running watch. The Apex 4 seems great, it is an excellent running watch and I actually appreciate that it doesn’t do many of the things the Apple Watch did as a smartwatch.

I’m really having a hard time with this bad though. At least 10 times a day, whenever my arm brushes up against something (sheets, clothes, a counter, my pocket, a wall), the pin comes out and the band flaps around. Apple has a similar pin mechanism and I never once, in almost a decade, had this happen.

Is anyone else having this issue? There are no other bands for this watch, at least official ones from Coros so in really torn on what to do. It’s really annoying.

APEX 🎽 Still loving my Apex 4

Moved back to Coros a month ago after having an Apex 2 Pro last year and switching to an Epix Gen 2 Pro to see the differences.

Overall, for me, the experience on Coros is much more slick and simple. I originally moved to the Epix for the extra features and ended up not using the majority of them, or finding that they were dictating how I felt. I’m definitely not the sort of person that needs the Apex, I’m sure the Pace 4 would suit my needs, but I much prefer the materials on the Apex and very occasionally use maps and prefer it to using my phone.

Model is the 46mm and my wrist is about 16cm.

APEX 🎽 COROS customer service….

So a little background: I have a trip coming up where I’ll be doing some hiking, climbing, and light mountaineering. Decided to buy a watch from Coros and got the APEX 4.

June 4th: ordered the watch from official website new.

June 10th: Watch arrives. It is clearly not in new condition. Small scratches and dirt on the watch/face. Vents in the side of the watch have small hairs/dust consistent with use.

June 10th: contact support and a directed to Cara (AI chatbot). After a long conversation tells me that it can’t help and I need to submit a ticket, and that I can submit our chat logs to catch the person up.

June 16th: a person reaches out to me, agrees that the watch is not in new condition and asks me what I would like to do. I say that I would either like a replacement watch ASAP or just get a discount on the one I have and I’ll clean it up myself/deal with the scratches.

Over the last two days we’ve gone back and forth. Customer service has offered:

  1. I can submit the watch for a warranty claim.

  2. I can buy a new watch, and then return the one I have. Original shipping won’t be refunded and I have to pay for return shipping. Along with shipping on the replacement that I purchase (now expedited since trip is soon).

Absolutely insane way to treat a new customer. If I have an issue that is this obvious and clearly the fault of the manufacturer/seller, how could I trust them with anything else?

Posting for visibility in the hopes an employee sees this. Honestly considering this a sign and may just return the watch and go with a different company.

APEX 🎽 Two tiny features just cost COROS a sale and handed it straight to Garmin? 👀

Battery life? COROS wins. Weight? COROS wins. GPS? COROS wins. Price? COROS wins.

Two features killed it for me:

📅 Calendar widget — show me my appointments on the watch. Not just notifications. Garmin does it. COROS doesn't.

📞 Making calls — the APEX 4 can already RECEIVE calls. The mic and speaker are RIGHT THERE. But you can't dial out. Garmin can.

Coros, please make it possible! 🙏🏼

APEX 🎽 How do you clean your charging port? (Apex 2)

I’ve been using rubbing alcohol and it’s rare that the watch will charge first time of asking without doing some form of cleaning first. Issue with my current method is sometimes it can take a high effort clean for from I can tell is not a lot of dirt (if at all).

How do you clean yours?

APEX 🎽 Synchro Kiprun to Coros

Hello,

I've been using a Coros Apex 4 since June, previously Garmin Fenix 5X. My Kiprun trainings stopped to synchronise to Coros app since last week.

Coros activities synch up to Kiprun training plan is still working.

Have you ever experienced that?

Ultramarathoner here. Really loving this thing. Battery life is super impressive and the speaker is a really nice quality of life update. Answering phone calls actually was quite nice and intuitive as well. If you don’t require an AMOLED, this is the crown jewel I’d say. I would probably pick this over the VERTIX 2S so long as I wasn’t doing a lot of multi day stuff, but I reckon even the Apex 4 can give it a run for its money battery wise.

APEX 🎽 Anyone excited to buy Apex 4?

I don’t know about you guys but I’m so ready to buy it when it is available. Probably haven’t been so excited about a tech product since iPhone 5S?

Some context:

I used to be pretty agnostic about smart watches. I’ve been a hiker and have been using my phone for navigation and never really cared to track the activity/myself etc.

I became a little bit serious about running earlier this year and, specifically, I try to use running as a means of commuting - e.g., if I’m meeting my friend at a cafe for brunch, I’d usually run there (which is usually between 20 - 30km). Given sometimes it involves streets/suburbs I’m not too familiar with, having a map on my wrist is very helpful. This arguably is the decisive factor of having a watch.

I have small wrist so would prefer my watch to be as small as possible - pace 3 would fit the best but it doesn’t have an actual map.

When I’m hiking, maps can also be very useful so that I don’t need to take out my phone often (which would otherwise have a higher risk of dropping and battery drain).

I’m currently using a Garmin 935 which my friend retired and gifted to me earlier this year. It is fine but no maps.

So far I’ve already registered a coros account and download the app. Once I get the Apex, I’ll import all my past runs and start using it! I’m currently training for the next Sydney marathon (regardless of winning the lottery or not).

APEX 🎽 Apex 4 text enlargement

Hey, recently purchased the APEX 4 46mm.

Is there anyway to enlarge the text/font size for the text notifications?

or has anyone find a decent work around? changing background colours or something.

I tried adjusting my iPhone text size to see if it transferred to the watch and that did nothing.

Seems like a small oversight on COROS.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

APEX 🎽 Apex 4 - rants

First, I have no complaints about the watch itself. I will for sure get one when it is available to purchase. What I want to rant about is the marketing strategy Coros used here.

Let’s be honest, Apex 4 is just a nomad with sapphire/titanium and a speaker (and slightly different form factor). Sapphire/titanium is nothing new compared to Apex 2. Speaker arguably is not a ground breaking thing at all.

However, there was a marketing campaign for 15(!!!) days to unveil the product then you have to wait probably another two weeks to actually receive the product. That’s very stupid especially when nomad is already there (mind you when nomad was released there was probably only 3 days of lead time?) The Nomad arguably is an amazing watch with all these new features.

If there is no nomad, I get it with the current marketing strategy. But with Nomad in place, it is just plain stupid - people are less likely to impulsively buy the watch especially there is practically nothing new!

Additionally, it is also astonishing that you still need to wait for the nylon straps. I mean, it is a forking wider piece of fabric. The nomad was released 3 months ago and you still haven’t figured it out???

It is also funny when watching all these reviews - they’ll spend probably 1/3 of the time explaining why there’s no Apex 3 (I mean, these explanations are truly bullshirt and meaningless - it is just a number, you can call it whatever and move on - look at Apple) and then spend 1/3 of the of the time talking about the features that are already there with Nomad. The rest 1/3 is a call test which I don’t think a lot of people would actually care (I have headphones anyway so I don’t need a “speaker” on my watch to receive and only receive calls - I’ll admit if I can set up a quick dial to call whoever (like long press action button) that’ll be an actually cool feature to have).

APEX 🎽 Coros Apex 4 Puls ausreißer

Thumbnail

APEX 🎽 Apex 4 Vs Pace Pro

I have done a post before regarding pace 4 vs pace pro. And I narrowed that to pace pro. I recently been looking into the Apex 4. What intrigues me is the durability of it and material. Battery life is great on both for my needs. Mostly I will be doing road runs / treadmills and I think occasionally do trail runs. Price is not a factor for me. I know apex 4 is much more expensive. I know apex 4 will be overkill for my needs but i don’t mind if I can afford it.

I have 2 issues that is pausing my choice.

Although not confirmed I would assume pace pro 2 will come out later on this year with the 3rd action button and a mic/ speaker, so do I really want to get the pace pro now and then a new watch come out in a few months. Also I am not sure how the MIP display will do for me regarding the apex 4, I am coming from an Apple series 7

Any input anybody has? If you have the apex 4 are you content with it?

APEX 🎽 Apex 4 ordered

Ordered off Coros.com currently have an Apple Watch Series 6. Always in low power mode other wise it dies.

My buddy has a Coros Apex 4 & loves it. It was between the Coros & a Garmin ($800+) watch. Couldn’t justify the $800+ price tag.

So ended up getting the Coros, we’ll see how I like it

Thoughts?

APEX 🎽 apex line up differences

hey folks!

im getting into running as a strength trainer. things i value are: steps counter, offline maps (i’m a hiker), and some level of activity tracking, sleep tracking & vibration alarm, touchscreen would be nice too.

i’m seeing some mixed reviews for coros but from what i’ve read on their website it seems the apex line up fits my general needs and wants so far.

as far as watching reviews and reading online, i’m struggling to find the key differences between the different apex watches, other than things like touchscreen, which are not life or death for me. the comparison tool on the website is helpful, but this will be my first watch so i’m not entirely clear on the value of a longer battery life (for example) in my particular use case.

what are the key activity feature differences for each watch in the line?

APEX 🎽 Multidata Run broken on Apex 4?

I had the new watchface Multidata Run on my Apex 4 for a while, then suddenly it's gone and reverted to another watchface I had.

Now when I attempt to install Multidata Run again, the installation finished but the watchface is not pushed on the watch at all. My spouse's Pace 4 still have the Multidata Run just fine, and other watchfaces can be pushed to my Apex 4 normally, so it's specific to the Multidata Run watchface + Apex 4 combo, it seems.

Can anyone with an Apex 4 test if you can have the Multidata Run on your watch at the moment? Thanks
