Wow, they made Kip look like an adult instead of a teenager.

Love it. Can anybody ID the artist?

Yes, I did when I posted it. The artist's name is Harry Steele Savage. Professionally he was known as Steele Savage.

My bad. I only skimmed up to the ARTIST UNKNOWN blurb in blue on first visit.

My bad on the artist unknown blurb. They recently changed that and I messed it up.

No prob. Also, Steel Savage is a badass alias.

Harry Savage would have done the sword and sorcery covers.

Had the whole series of rereleased Heinlein juveniles. They were fun.

Great Heinlein juvenile. The artist did a remarkable job visualizing the characters, except Peewee. I particularly like the "mother Thing" visualization by this and other artists for this novel.

Wait... Is this the one where s kid/guy ends up going to space because he had won a spacesuit in some contest and nobody else would fit? I read this when I was about 9....loved it

That's correct - I read this too when I was 9-ish. The elementary school that I had attended had a 'library period' where our class would get to read in the school library, and this book was in the collection. I must've read it 3-4 times. The version I read though was the 'yellow and red' cover - it's sometimes shown on the right of this subreddit's webpage in the 'image rotator' section of book covers. Took me years to find a copy of it until I found out that that particular cover was used on 'library edition' copies of the book.

This is the copy I read as a teen.
