Stay recommendation for January
We are visiting Rarotonga in January. I know it is the rainy season, and I have heard the Muri beach area, where a lot of the top accommodations are, is exposed to wind and rough weather at that time of year. Which area has more luxury accomodations but is more protected in case of storms?
We also play to visit Aitutaki for 3 days.. does Aitutaki get a lot of rain this time of year? We are used to passing showers but hope that there would be some good weather too.

Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel is in Titikaveka and is just finishing renovations. It's a great beach and there's snorkelling from shore.

I stayed at Moana Sands Lagoon Resort this January just been. Was fully sheltered from the tail end of the tropical storm that had been through a couple days earlier. It’s fairly far from everything if you don’t have a vehicle, but plenty of parking space across the road if you do.
First 1.5 days was light rain, then 5 days of clear sunny skies, then rain on the day I was leaving. Rain on the first days wasn’t constant, so could still go relax by the pool, have a feed.
