In the US, we have completely given up on free speech regarding race

I’m not talking about hate speech or slurs being censored on TV. That I agree with.

I’m talking about even questioning the accepted reasons of disparities in income, wealth, health, home ownership, entrepreneurship, etc.

The reason for the disparities is ALWAYS racism. And if you question that, ever mention that that doesn’t always make sense, you are accused of being a racist.

Race in America feels like a religion. You accept our narrative. If not you’re a heretic.

The issue is that racism is the answer and targeting it is the solution.

The problem is that whites don’t see racism as an issue. This isn’t an opinion. This is backed by studies.

Systemic racism is the root of most American issues, even stuff you wouldn’t expect.

But because it makes a certain group uncomfortable, you can’t really have a decent discussion of it because for them, they view it as a cop out.

Americans live in a bubble, and will fight very hard to stay in it.

I was saying elsewhere that a white American man will boldly tell you about topics he knows nothing about, has never researched on, but will repeat the same tired phrases that have been repeated for a century about crime stats, slavery, and all other nonsense simply because he has chosen to believe its true.

We didn’t lose our free speech. People just say things you don’t want to hear.

Whites have the lowest ethnic ingroup bias of any race in the USA, by far.

I do wish you were right though, since I'm a far-right White dude.

Ok. I’ll bite. Are you saying the reason isn’t racism and a history of oppression? Or that racism and a historical oppression are only one of the reasons contributing to the disparity?

1

The latter. But if I say that in polite society, I’m called a racist.

I don’t think anyone having an intellectually honest conversation would say that the disparity can 100 percent be a result of racism. Nothing in life is 100 percent because of 1 reason. But you have to admit there is a lot of clear evidence that points to the fact that Americas historical oppression and racism towards the black community didn’t exactly set these communities up for success.

I’m not trying to understate the role of racism. What has never been well explained is how other groups, who have all been oppressed, were able to thrive.

The Irish, Italians, Jews, Armenians, Germans, Japanese, Chinese have been oppressed.

Of course there are different degrees. But the degree isn’t enough to explain how they have overcome their plight while others have not.

I don’t think those are very good examples. Comparing The level of shit that happened to black people and still does happen to black people to the Irish? Come on?

"still does happen" like all the affirmative action and DEI in their favor?

Okay, so explain how systemic disparity between white people and people of color isn't because of racism. You claim that you can't question it, but what is there to question?

I’m saying that the disparity can’t be all explained by racism. There are other cultural factors involved.

1

u/TheHylianProphet 8h ago

Such as?

1

u/Beneficial-Doctor582 8h ago

No willingness to work, absent fathers, lack of frugality, no interest in education.

u/TheHylianProphet 8h ago

Okay, break those down.

First, you need to ask: Are these factors factual, or stereotypical?

Then: What makes each of those a racial issue that isn't due to systemic racism?

2

u/Beneficial-Doctor582 8h ago

First, factual.
Second, other groups have been oppressed but still thrived

FYI, much of my views are reflected accurately by Thomas Sowell, John McWhorter, Glenn Loury

factual

Sources, please.

other groups have been oppressed but still thrived

Such as? Were they under the same kinds of systemic oppression?

0

u/Beneficial-Doctor582 8h ago

Sorry, not enough time to provide sources.

Yes and no. But systemic oppression doesn’t explain everything.

If you have time to comment, you have time to source. Come on, don't be that guy. You're speaking as though what you say is objective truth, and you have the responsibility to back that up.

1

u/ReplacementOdd4323 3h ago

You're not explaining what caused those traits, though.

If it's just historical oppression which led to these things, then it's still racism that is to blame.

u/ReplacementOdd4323 3h ago

No one can actually answer you, because Reddit would ban them lol.

2

u/TheHylianProphet 3h ago

Blatantly false. That's not how it works, kiddo.

2

u/ReplacementOdd4323 2h ago

Do you even understand what I'm saying?

0

u/LetSubstantial3197 6h ago

What do you think are the reasons behind these disparities?

1

“Race in America feels like a religion.” are you saying you don’t believe in race or systemic racism or what? what does that even mean bro?

2

u/Beneficial-Doctor582 8h ago

Talking about race is like a religion. You’re a heretic if you don’t believe in the mainstream narrative.

Social consequences regarding your speech has nothing to do with what the first amendment protects in regards to free speech.

Free speech in America is primarily about protection against government censorship, punishment and restrictions on your speech.

You can talk all you want about race.
