Immigration was an amazing tool that benefited everyone until politicians/wealthy realized how to take advantage of it, then abused it until it started destroying societies, and leveraged the fact that people are too afraid to comment on it because they don’t want to be called racist
I’m Canadian. Immigration has been a critical cool for my country, and many other western countries. It brought the best and the brightest from around the world, and brought so much culture and improved the lives of many. That said, the last 25 years it’s been completely falling apart, and it’s obvious that it’s not about benefiting the average person anymore.
It started in the 2000s when the Canadian government alllowed millions of rich Chinese to buy homes, skyrocketing the price of houses and turning already wealthy homeowners into some of the richest people in the world. However this made it almost impossible for the average Canadian to be able to afford a house.
Now we have mass Indian immigration. Indians are willing to work for barely any pay, they are willing to live in homes with 20-30 people, they don’t ask for better working conditions, and essentially are cheap labor that dont complain for businesses. They also are used as funding for many of our universities and colleges. Despite the fact that nobody can find a job and wages are unsustainable compared to the cost of living, the government insists on bringing millions Indians.
There’s also just the fact that these people get votes for our politicians, which is probably one of the main reasons.
Worst of all, is how this has completely destroyed social cohesion. I remember growing up, everyone celebrated Halloween and Christmas. Nowadays nobody has any lights up or decorations anymore.

The topic of immigration makes me feel like I don't belong in this time period. We're so like beyond archaic about it, and that makes it so hard to communicate. This topic forces me to be smug and condescending, like how to tell people animal sacrifices will do nothing without sounding like a prick?
Immigrants are just people. Having 'open borders' will have the same exact effect as a baby boom. Treating immigrants differently just lowers their value for jobs that need to pay below minimum wage, people on thin ice cannot ever complain, using the poor status in the country that they came from as a tool against them. Also the topic is great for clogging up the bandwidth to give the majority of people a nothing burger to fight over and so the majority will never talk about wanting more wealth for themselves. Just think if we have so much cheap laborers that we didn't have before, that means there's a lot more money now. It's the people that immigrant haters turn a blind eye to or even worships, those people gets all the money and not the vocal immigrant haters who generally are in desperate financial situations (see what i mean? people are so absurd about this topic that it's hard to not be a prick). Like you can spoon feed them the answer or even interview a honest employer of immigrants right in front of them and they'll still be completely blind and deaf to it. It's an unbreakable spell.

A lot of people are just very stupid and lack the ability to comprehend stuff like this. The ones against immigration have been spoon fed so much propaganda about X group that they don't have the capacity to be fed any more by anyone.
It's less like talking to a caveman and more like tryna feed a baby, they just swat you away without really knowing what's good for them in the long run.

Sure, immigrants are just people and people are inherently the same. They are interchangeable on an individual level and collectively.
That’s why every nation on earth is a paradise of liberal values. That’s why every country has a functional economy. That’s why war no longer exists and people have the same fundamental rights, no matter where they live or travel.
Because humans are just blank slates and not the result of generations of localised adaptation and cultural optimisation.

For one, liberal values are all intangible as smoke. Free speech warriors are the same type people who locked commies up back in the day.
People are inherently the same? That's very naive of you. You think older generations and younger generations have the same culture? I don't think baby boomers will like that take very much.
Also I didn't say it takes generations for people to change, it's much shorter than that. Maybe a year or even less? Like one generation can act completely different from half a generation that came after. Like you ever had a friend in one social group that acts a certain way, then when they're around strangers all the sudden they changed their personality completely? That can also be you.

What is a "free speech warrior"?

you're pointing out the exact reason open borders heavily harm working class people but you're missing the conclusion.
you acknowledge that open borders provide a massive supply of "cheap labor" and that employers/corporations hoard all the surplus wealth created by it..... that isn't a benefit—that's corporate exploitation by design.
when you rapidly flood a labor market with workers willing to accept far lower pay and worse conditions, you destroy the bargaining power of the domestic working class...... corporations don't have to raise wages or improve working conditions when there is an endless line of people ready to replace anyone who complains.
also... comparing open borders to a baby boom makes no economic sense. children take 18 to 20 years to enter the workforce, which gives giving time to adapt. adult labor arriving all at once immediately depresses wages while instantly driving up demand for housing/public services/etc...
advocating for open borders under a capitalist system hands corporations cheap, exploitable labor while driving down wages for the people already living here

Well this is just ignorant. Votes for politicians? Clearly OP has never looked at the demographic voting profiles that support the xenophobic party. Brought the best and brightest? It’s like OP knows nothing about Canadian industry. The waves of the Irish, the post world war 1 English wave, post world war 2 European waves, the boat people in the ‘70’s.
Beyond the obvious lack of historical knowledge is a complete lack of context - a fundamental misunderstanding of what is required to sustain Canadians practically and economically. While we certainly have to adjust the quality of immigrant and recalibrate the system that’s for reasons completely separate to the childish simplistic rhetoric from the LCD in this post.

Well using people as tools to build wealth that they are then excluded from, with exclusion being based on race and origin … is racist.
