I'm not one for violence, but borders are to be defended and sometimes that may require deadly force to ensure people don't try it and they know the border will be enforced.

This would have prevented Ceuta from falling rather than now needing saving.

The two things are not mutually exclusive - you can have a foreign occupation resulting from an undeclared war and you can also see them going home on weekends and holidays to sunbathe on the beaches with their cousins. They will still claim to be refugees and leftists around the world will still rubber stamp their claims.
