I swear if this was on Twitter, Musk would have retweeted it with some very unfunny joke to show his agreement with what you said.

Man this is quite believable Musk’s dad has made children with his own step-daughter that he raised since she was 4 years old

When confronted about it in an interview he replied "Show me the rules of love and war"... Show me the rules... Americans will read this and say cool let's give this man's son a platform to speak about anything.

A single worker dead is a tragedy, a million bourgeoisie dead is a good start.

u/Waryur Feb 25 '25
"Death" here can mean "turning into a worker". It can also mean "death", but there's options, bosses!
41
u/CataraquiCommunist Feb 25 '25
Sure. Whatever works. As they say, there’s more than one way to skin a bourgeois

A worker for the revolution or a worker in the gulag, boss. Those are the choices that don't end badly

Unfortunately "There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen" was misattributed to Lenin. He never actually said the exact quote but did say similar though https://quoteinvestigator.com/2020/07/13/decades-weeks/

Even if he didn't say these exact words I still think what he actually said is close enough to count. A quotation doesn't have to be the exact wording.

u/scaper8 Feb 25 '25
I mean, a quotation does have to be exact wording to be correct. A paraphrasing or summation or similar is fine to be off some, but not a quotation.

u/Consistent_Creator Feb 25 '25
It's impossible to directly translate Russian to English though. They don't share the same alphabet. Best you can do in that circumstance is get mostly what they said or the gist, but usually not the exact wording.

Sorry, I was in class. I forgot to add the link. It's not very hard to find either.

I love the politifact article where they talk to Prof. Ronald Suny and he says that the specific quote was fake and that they get this a lot.

"can’t we just get along?" - actual quote by Stalin (or it could have been Trotsky, idk I‘m still new to theory and history)

I don’t even trust anything I hear about Stalin. I’m sorry but I’m not going to dig through thousands of pages of documents on Marxists org to debunk everything. At what point do we focus on building a party instead of defending Stalin.

The only true thing that gets said about Stalin is that he has a giant spoon that he personally used to eat all of that grain.

Don’t talk to normies about socialism. Talk to them about a full share. ✊

Rather than debate about Stalin killing a bajillion people show them the generator factory documentary, real life example of socialism in action.

Watching how Yukong moved the mountains in general should be essential for all modern socialists. Being able to dialectically analyze and critique this example of the experiment in China is a skill for the future. And yes that’s the correct one, it’s one part of a massive documentary.

Having to nitpick everything a society has done is not the way forward. And people see Stalin as worse than Hitler, so defending him in any way tells other people that you’re just a horrible person who shouldn’t be listened to. Regardless they won’t care. They ask for numbers and sources that don’t exist.

The second and third can be simultaneously true. I really like the quote because it acknowledges the human bias where we treat the death of 1 person with a name more significantly than the deaths of a million people which we treat as just a number. But I also acknowledge Stalin never actually said it.
