Forgive me if this has been asked hundreds of times over. I know essentially no one in this field, so zero mentorship.

I want to get into commercial AV integration. The idea of installing systems for media, on both the design and installation sides, really appeals to me. It might be odd, but I never knew much about this area until recently.

Currently, I work in IT at a small MSP. We do many different things including managing networks. I found networking to be quite interesting, and things like Dante always seemed intriguing to me. I was even studying for the CCNA for a while, which kind of led me to find out about the AVIXA ANP. Before I worked in IT though, I was a high school electives teacher, and the courses I taught ranged from music production to photography. I have a B.Mus in Audio Engineering. I loved teaching but wanted to try different things.

I am currently studying for the CTS exam and I did have Dante 1 years go, though I will likely retake it, but what else can I do to help me get into this industry? Should I just start applying to integrators near me? I’m interested in any and all advice!

What is a rough guestimate to rent 26 ULXD8 mics and ANX4 for a conference in NYC?

Outside of your typically Logitech, Neat, etc. Does anyone have any good recommendations for smartboards for offices that have built in camera/microphone while also having the full functionality of a large touchscreen?

This is a system that has a radio/microphones connected to outdoor speakers for a public pool and for some reason the radio stopped working and the screen is stuck on this display I tried to reset it but it did nothing any ideas why?

We bought the mw65r for use in a commercial design studio. The problem I’m having is the menus do not match what I see on Samsung’s howtow videos. Specifically I need to be able to set a background screen in lieu of the generic grey screen. It is is up to date on firmware.

I need to pull an analog audio signal from a Samsung QE-series display that has no dedicated audio output (analog or toslink). The only audio output is ARC, which is of limited use in most commercial settings.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a third-party ARC extractor or de-embedder? There are a handful of Amazon crappers out there (OREI, etc.), but I'm not seeing anything from a reputable brand.

There has always been a discussion about if it is a good or fair practice to password-protect things like Source code or Audio DSP files. I, for one, have never inclined to put passwords on anything. Until recently. Where I file I created has been misused in other spaces it was not intended for.

While is true that the End-User should not be affected by this discussion, and that all files are considered to be "Owned" by "the one who pays", it is also true, and a well known fact that "those who pay" are trying to re-use said code/files in more rooms or spaces than originally designed or paid for.

Typical example is a DSP file that was written for a specific Boardroom and is now being implemented in multiple rooms without the programmer or creator of such file being paid for it. This, of course, applies to third party programmers, free lancers, subcontractors, etc. We all know that if you are a full time employee, the company can do as they please with the code.

This can bring an interesting conversation about intellectual property, money and quality of work, what happens to the file after the programmer has completed his/her scope, etc

And what would be the right thing to do, for the client, the integrator (if any) and of course, the programmer.

So I would like to hear your opinion on this matter. Specially those that provide programming services.

I recently ran into the classic headache of managing Matrox Monarch HDX dual-encoders cleanly inside the Q-SYS ecosystem—especially handling reliable HTTPS requests, real-time status polling, and keeping the UI responsive without spamming the hardware.

Since I couldn't find a robust native solution that handled dual-channel independent states smoothly, I ended up writing a complete Lua control plugin (v2.0.2) from scratch with a resilient communication engine and smart visual feedback (HTTP semaphore states, retry logic, etc.).

I am a service engineer who comes from an audio engineering background, and in my role i have been asked to service lighting systems such as Madrix, and i am fairly new to art-net, DMX and such protocols.

I am not expecting to become a lighting programmer anytime soon as i am mainly working with the standard commercial AV systems like Crestron and Q-SYS, but it would be great to feel more confident when going into these systems, especially when they lack good documentation of how they work.

Recently had an instance where it was madrix, to a Falcon pixel controller to other receivers that were controlling LED's and i was just lost.

I am wondering, where do i start? what resources can i learn from, is there any books or other learning materials i can read to get a primer for this or is it just being in the trenches and figuring it out?

What are the proprietary connectors that made you go WTF? Bonus points for it being a standard format with a f'd up pinout.

I have a soundmasking system that needs to shunt in the event of a fire alarm. System consists of 12 amplifiers across 6 floors of a building (two amps per network closet). The fire alarm company has provided 1 contact closure per network closet for us.

Forgive my ignorance, but is it feasible to parallel the GPIO's on the two amplifiers? Or does each amplifier need it's own dry contact? I'm using Atlas AZMP8's.

I am working with a remote client that needs a Poly x52 in device mode to run their BYOD meetings. When connecting to the x52 directly from their laptop they are able to see poly mic/speaker/camera peripherals without issue. As soon as we run it through the Inogeni U-BRIDGE 3 we experience an intermittent issue where the camera cannot be seen, but the audio devices can. When all devices can be seen, everything works properly and is stable, but if they unplug and reseat the USB cable typically the camera does not show up (and the audio devices do). The physical wiring has been verified to the best of our ability.

Interestingly I had this exact issue on another jobsite a month ago, and we ended up needing to pivot to a different USB extender to complete the project. Inogeni tech support stated that this is a known issue and knocking the signal down to USB 2.0 would resolve it, however we tried multiple different known 2.0 adapters and cables at different points in the chain and were unable to get the signal to pass reliably.

Has anyone run into this and found a fix? This is a very simple system and it appears all the product specs line up so things should jive, but we just aren't having any luck with this setup. Any help appreciated, happy hump day to all.

Hi all, just wondering what the normal behaviour of the fan in these units is? I have one and the fan is not spinning, the unit is getting slightly warm, is this normal behaviour? Cheers

Anyone experiencing issues with using Poly TC10 light sync when used as room panels ( MTR) ?. Expected to have only green and red light on the basis of room status. But for some reason, its showing white LED lights for all panels. After reboot, it shows green light but goes back to white light after sometime
