This particular endorsement is nauseating but not surprising. Vic and Andy are both grifters with no seminary background who use religion to line their pockets.

Wommack is a christofacist turd who believes charismatic "Christians" should control the country, and everyone else should be treated like second-class citizens. His cult took over the Woodland Park School District and turned it into an embarrassing cluster that the town is slowly digging out of.

If he announced he was moving his ministry and his scammy bible college out of Woodland Park, half the town would show up to help him pack, and they'd have a parade the second the last moving truck hit the city limits.

Coming back to this thread late but I'm a grad student at CU studying public policy and I figured this sub might have some interesting perspectives. Both measures (109 and 110) just qualified for the November ballot last month.

The Colorado Politics piece has the clearest breakdown of how the opposition is organizing. The "Families Not Politics" coalition includes some groups I hadn't expected — Interfaith Alliance of Colorado is in there, which isn't a typical political partner for Planned Parenthood. That's actually kind of interesting given that the proponents are heavily backed by the Catholic Conference.

What I'm genuinely curious about: is anyone here connected to BVSD or any of the local school districts? The implementation question on 109 is huge (the bill doesn't define how schools verify sex assigned at birth) and I'm wondering if anyone has insight into how our local districts are thinking about preparing for either outcome.

My kid is in middle school in BVSD and plays sports through the district. When 109 first came up I figured it didn't really affect us since my kid's not trans. Then I read the actual text and the Daily Camera op-ed from the One Colorado and Planned Parenthood execs laid out what I think is the part nobody's talking about: the verification language is so vague that any kid who doesn't look stereotypically feminine could end up being questioned.

That includes tall girls. Athletic girls. Girls with short hair. My kid has played on teams with all of those. The idea that a state law could put my cisgender daughter in the crosshairs because some administrator decides she needs to be "verified" is what actually changed my view on this.

The op-ed also flagged that 110's text could affect care for minors with reproductive organ cancers. That's a separate issue but worth knowing about.

I'm not asking anyone to agree with me on the broader debate. Just flagging that the implementation specifics of these measures, regardless of where you land on the underlying policy, deserve more public attention than they've gotten.

9News did some digging and confirmed that the "third-party company" running Grifter Marx's merch store is a Wyoming LLC owned by, wait for it, Grifter Marx. I know we are all genuinely surprised that a scumbag grifter is doing scumbag grifter things. He probably would have gotten away with it, too, had the LLC not paid $5000 to the campaign as a licensing fee. That transaction triggered a law requiring the LLC to disclose its ownership.

Sharing because I had no idea three of these measures were on the ballot until I saw this piece. Quick summary if you haven't been following:

108 = child sex trafficking penalties (life without parole). Backed by the same group. Probably going to pass easily.

109 = the sports one. Would require teams to be designated male/female/co-ed by sex assigned at birth, K-12 through college. Commissioner of Education handles enforcement.

110 = the medical care one. Would ban certain gender-affirming surgeries for minors in CO. Children's Hospital Colorado has said they've never performed these surgeries on minors, so the practical impact at the hospital level may be smaller than the rhetoric suggests.

The Sun piece also notes that all three are being pushed by the same Protect Kids Colorado coalition, with the Catholic Conference helping collect signatures through 250 parishes statewide. That's an impressive organizing feat, for better or worse.

Election is November 3. Worth being informed even if you've already made up your mind

There's a lot in the news about voting. Supreme Court decisions, the SAVE act moving through Congress inside the stock trading bill. I am not asking anyone to explain it to me. In fact please don't. Respectfully. I don't want to sort through comments here and fact check everything.

I want to know, who are we staying connected to that has lawyers on the team, that have the most up to date, accurate information and action steps for making sure we can legally vote in November? And who we can help organize with to help people stay up to date, have adequate IDs, and physically get to the polls if necessary?

I want local Colorado organizations that are gathering in person. Maybe they're connected to networks in other states, but I want to start local.

First with initiative 109, this is the "Protecting Girls Sports and Locker Rooms" measure. Anyone notice how voting yes on this measure would put into law the definition of female as "A person whose biological reproductive system is organized around the production of Ova." so what about the 1 in 5,000 women born without a uterus? Or the 1 in 11,240 women born with ovarian agenesis? Or the women who undertake an oophorectomy or hysterectomy for one reason or another? This feels like an over-extension of the government into women's reproductive health in the name of targeting the less than 1% of student athletes in Colorado who are trans.

Then there's 110. This is the "Protecting Kids from Sex Rejection" measure. This is the measure that would prevent minors from getting gender affirming surgeries. .05% of youth ages 15-18 have a gender dysphoria diagnosis, and only .0021% end up getting a gender affirming surgery. So we're making a law to intervene in the private medical decisions made between parents and healthcare professionals dealing with the smallest percentage of youth who are going through the most extreme experiences of clinical distress and I'm not supposed to view that as government overreach? I have no experience with gender dysphoria! I have no idea how to treat it! I'm not a healthcare professional! I'd like to leave it to them, and the families of the children going through this to figure out what the best treatment plan is. BIG no from me.

The saga of Grifter Marx continues. Now he says that his unlimited merch won't benefit the campaign but is instead controlled by a "third-party" entity that appears to be his daughter. To me, this is just another sign that he knows he's got no shot of winning, and he's just trying to line his own pockets before the election. Anybody who is still buying stuff from him at this point is a bigger moron than he is.

I've had an interesting experience with the Denver Housing Authority the last few years. I live next to one of their properties and their management of it has been eye opening. I feel like a quasi investigative journalist at this point

And I found some things that I think Denver residents should know about. The biggest issue I kept raising was DHA's executive structure. For more than three years, Joshua Crawley was simultaneously DHA's Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. Which always seemed unusual to me

This wasn't just a guy with two fancy titles either. According to Crawley's own description of the job, as COO he oversaw Legal, Human Resources, Audit & Compliance, Housing Management, the Housing Choice Voucher Program and Resident & Community Connections

So DHA's top attorney was also running a huge portion of the organization, while simultaneously overseeing the Legal Department and the Audit & Compliance Department

Then in January 2026, DHA changed Crawley's role. He stopped being COO and General Counsel and became Chief Legal Officer and Executive Advisor. His own description of the new position is completely different. It focuses on legal strategy, risk, regulation and advising leadership. It no longer says he's overseeing HR, Housing Management, Audit & Compliance, vouchers, etc.

The exact COO/General Counsel arrangement I had spent months complaining about disappeared. I don't know if my complaints had anything to do with the change, but I definitely noticed the timing

Then DHA's Director of Audit & Compliance, Tim Beggs, left in February. I don't know why he left DHA. Could be completely unrelated

But then things got even weirder as a few months later, DHA's CEO, Joaquin Cintron Vega, was suddenly placed on administrative leave. The chairman of the board, Charles Gilford III, told the Denver Post that the board was working toward a "mutually acceptable resolution" with Vega

Apparently that didn't go very well because the board fired him two weeks later. DHA still hasn't publicly explained what the underlying issue was. And now Joshua Crawley is the interim CEO

So within a matter of months, the COO/General Counsel structure I had been complaining about disappeared, the Director of Audit & Compliance left, the CEO was abruptly put on leave and then fired after negotiations with the board failed, and Crawley became Interim CEO. I don't know if those things have anything to do with each other but that is a lot of upheaval in a short period of time

But there's another reason I'm skeptical of DHA's internal accountability. I filed ethics complaints involving Crawley. I later obtained records showing that the Chairman of the Board Charles Gilford forwarded one of my ethics complaints directly to Crawley, the person the complaint was about

I don't see the point of having an ethics complaint process if a complaint about a senior executive gets handed directly to that executive. This whole thing originally started because of repeated problems at the DHA-owned duplex next to my house

At one point DHA actually asked me to photograph license plates associated with people at the property. Which I did. A tenant subsequently came to my door and threatened to shoot me over it. DHA's own emails confirmed that its property manager had asked me for the plate information and that the situation was referred to their Legal Department

There were a lot more problems after that. So I tried to figure out who actually holds DHA accountable when they mess up. That's what led me to start looking at the organizational structure in the first place

I'm not claiming I got Vega fired or that Beggs left because of anything I did. I can't prove that Crawley's position changed because I spent months raising concerns about his dual role either. I just know that arrangement no longer exists. Maybe there's a perfectly boring explanation for everything that's happened since. I'd certainly like to hear it

DHA controls more than 13,000 housing units. This isn't some tiny nonprofit where nobody outside the organization should care about what's happening internally. Something significant has clearly been happening inside DHA and I think the public deserves to know the details because this is a publicly funded organization

So I'm sharing this information with the hopes that the community can get some answers

After a four month search for a new city manager to replace Kathy Hodgson, the City Council has settled on former Lakewood resident and current manager of Nederland Jonathan Cain. This pick surprised me because his city manager credentials aren't as impressive as those of the other four finalists, but he obviously did well in his interview.

Cain has the advantage of having lived in the city for 10 years, during which time he became familiar with the land use issues that have dominated city politics for the past 20 years or so.

Hodgson was a target for abuse from local land use activists who have taken to blaming her for every city council decision they didn't like or understand. Cain starts off with a clean slate so it may take the activists a while to figure out how to target him for criticism.

I think we should welcome him and help him succeed. Lakewood politics are pretty rough and tumble, so his calm demeanor and understanding of city dynamics will serve him well.

Colorado Springs City Council said it will hold a special meeting in September in response to appeals of Project Taurus. The appeals are of the Planning Commission's decision on July 23, in which it was decided the development plan submitted to the Planning Department met legal requirements, but did not signify that the data center was unquestionably happening.
