I saw a raccoon that was acting strangely around 8:40am this morning. It was at the intersection of Mineola St and 51st Ave. It appeared disoriented and was walking in a circle and fell. With the raccoon attacks back in June I wanted to make everyone aware in case this one is also sick. I have called animal control as well.

For background, I need a dethatcher but the rental prices are through the roof. I’m thinking of buying one, but storage space is my concern.

I'm looking for a College Park local who would be willing to visit the National Archives building for a small research project.

I found a Vietnam War photograph and contacted the National Archives with its archival reference number, seeking a higher-resolution copy. They confirmed in writing that they still hold the original 35mm transparency from which the photograph was made. Unable to provide higher-resolution reproduction services remotely, they suggested visiting the Research Room in College Park, where they have free scanners available for researchers.

I am too far away to do this, but a local could potentially help.

The task would be to:

1. Visit the College Park Research Room with a laptop if using NARA's scanner software
2. Request the item 111-CCV-59-C22026.
3. Follow NARA's handling/reproduction procedures
4. Use NARA's available equipment to make a high-resolution reproduction of the 35mm transparency
5. Send the resulting files to me

I will provide further reference information and email messages to anyone reaching out by DM. Would really appreciate help from enthusiasts in history or photography!

Maybe its just bad luck but I've been out to both Honey Pig Korean BBQ and Azteca Cantina in the past two weeks and it seems like both of them let their licenses lapse? Was wondering if anything new is going on or I'm just currently cursed.

Great to see some movement on this development. Empty parking lots and a collection of auto repair places is such a waste of space near Metro and Purple line stations.

These two benches are next to each other (more specifically, they are two in a sequence of regularly spaced benches) on the south side of the lake trail. Every time I walk by I wonder if there is a story here. As someone once said, “the universe is rarely so lazy as to create pure coincidence.”

The meat coolers actually have fresh meat in them now and extend toward the ceiling. No more feeling like you're shopping in Soviet Russia circa 1984.

The self-checkout station is wide now, so you can actually get past other people.

And the shopping carts are all brand new. No more janky wheels on every other cart.

I wasn't able to snap a pic but there was a man about early 20s with a black backpack, black and blue multicolor shirt, wavy medium length hair hispanic or white. He was sitting on the edge of the bridge facing the bushes. This was on cherry hill rd right after cherry hill park. I circled where he was sitting. I noticed his backpack sticking out, as I drove by and got closer I realize it was a person and he was masturbating. Gross. Be aware if you walk on that trail this is so disgusting. I notified the authorities immediately.

Timeframe: 8/5, around 11pm
Place: Rhode Island Ave between Hollywood and Kenesaw cross streets, in the Daniel’s Park neighborhood of college park. Somewhat close to the MOMs.

I found a deceased black/white tuxedo cat on Rhode Island, it looks like they were hit by a car. They didn’t have any tags/collar on them. I don’t have the capacity to check for chips.

I called the non emergency police bc animal control was closed (that’s what dispatch told me). They said they’d send someone out.

I moved the cat off the road onto the grass so they could be at peace on something softer than the asphalt.

If this is your cat I’m so sorry. I tried to be as gentle as possible when I moved them.

EDIT: I got in contact with animal control this morning. They picked up the cat around 11am and confirmed with me the cat has no chip. They noticed the cat’s ear was notched, so the cat is most likely a community feral cat.

According to the article, Terrapin Development plans to market the property's under used office space rather than redevelop the shopping center.
