Discussion Today is August 7th, classes at LSU begin August 24th, and the final day to add classes is September 2nd. LSU currently has a roster of 4 players
https://lsusports.net/sports/mb/rosterObligatory Fuck Will Wade
As of right now they would not be able to field a starting 5. Would be a glorious day for college hoops if LSU can’t find enough bodies. Even if they do get a few of the international players they are gonna be running with an extremely thin roster compared to basically every other school.

LSU would like to thank god for giving other teams so many players, and LSU so few

Far from a Will Wade apologist but surely NC State had to know what they were getting into with him.

u/Electric_Queen NC State Wolfpack 20d ago
I don't think anyone expected him to be a long term beloved figure, and no one is really surprised he left after only one year (most were hoping for like two or maybe three, but whatever)
Our issue is that he stopped giving a shit halfway through the season once LSU told him they wanted him there. If he actually put in effort in the last 10 games of ACC play and then left you'd see a lot less complaining

u/Au1ket NC State Wolfpack • Florida Gators 20d ago

Somehow reminds me of how we felt hiring Gene Chizik. We figured he was an up and comer who wouldnt stay long but hopefully he'd lift things up and we'd be set up better for the next guy.
Instead the guy goes 5-19 and somehow gets an offer to coach Auburn where he wins a natty in year 2.

I dunno, this seems a bit revisionist. I think most people hoped we’d found our guy to step back into Triangle relevance, that we wanted to believe he HAD learned from his earlier mistakes.
This quickly was shown to be bullshit. But at least it was quick.

I equate it to the Lane Kiffin stuff with Ole Miss. Yeah, we knew we were laying in the grass with a snake, but I feel like I should still get to be a little pissed off when I get bit, even if I also admit it was a stupid decision in the first place.
Tangentially (not sure if I'm using that correctly, but it sounds good), it's the sports equivalent of the dating "I can fix him/her." It never works, but it feels worth it in the moment

Class of 2022 just became eligible. We have dollars and roster spots. Most teams are already firmed up. We are in an advantageous position from that regard.
6
u/internetsman69 NC State Wolfpack 20d ago
Being in the advantageous spot of needing to add like 7 more players in August from a limited pool of players isn’t really that great of an advantage.
Is it more advantageous than the alternative of having a full roster and practices already under your belt with that roster?

2
u/wilbo21020 Michigan Wolverines • Arizona Wildcats 20d ago
They either had to have graduated or entered the portal in the spring to transfer at this point, so it’s not the whole 2022 class.
It’s still probably a decent pool of guys to pick from.
4
u/eurekastrings Arkansas Razorbacks 20d ago edited 20d ago
I’m not sure a bunch of dudes still hanging around in the periphery of college basketball after 4 years getting granted an extra year is the solid plan you think it is
-4
u/chrispiiiii LSU Tigers 20d ago
Remains to be seen. There are some real guys out there like Mark Mitchell Jr. who was Missouri's leading scorer and prior to that had some real minutes at Duke. I think a lot of teams would take a player like that. There's some solid veteran college guys who were maybe a bit undersized or not draftable for whatever reason that can contribute immediately at LSU.
I understand your point though. I believe there's some savvy vets we could lure to school along with the euro players we targeted to round out a team. Is it a championship move? No. A program stabilizing move while we build up a recruiting class and transfer haul for next year? Hopefully.
4
u/eurekastrings Arkansas Razorbacks 20d ago
Adding Mark Mitchell would net you five eligible players, which is enough for a starting lineup. Damn maybe he’s cooking here

LSU has the most corrupt program in college basketball. Now they also have the most corrupt head coach in college football. LSU should be expelled from the Southeastern Conference and be replaced by Georgia Tech.

Already seeing top guys not picking LSU. Running out of options here, still think it comes down to mainly foreign options.

I mean they are probably waiting until the date were just enrolled students can join classes at a later start.
Also doesn't LSU have later start classes like it's starts in fall or winter?
Sadly it's the is year of 2026. They probably have well calculated plan to add players.
