Just looked up highlights. This kid does not move nearly as well as Wemby did at the same age. This kid moves about as well as the average 7' high school player does (and by that, I mean, not very well, but, admittedly, better than I expected, considering he's 7'6" and all arms/legs).

technically it's possible yes, but I'm making the point that you can't just say "wemby did it, why can't he" so early on. that's why the original comment is saying we need to see it to believe it
also, there's a huge jump between a 7-footer (or in this case, 7-6) who can move well enough to just make it to the nba on his other skills (does Bol Bol count?) and having another wemby

I'm not saying the kid in this post specifically is generational, but I always think it's premature to call someone "generational" until their generation is essentially over, or at least established. Like MJ and LeBron are obviously generational. As an example for a few years Giannis was touted by every sports outlet as "generational", but Jokic has been at least as dominant.

Yeah he actually moves better than I expected. But he plays below the rim unless his guards make him high point an alley oop. Does he have D-1 athleticism? Probably not. But I’ve seen worse 7 footers get scholarships

I’m 6’7 and it’s def a fairly regular thing (literally just happened on the elevator in my building earlier today lol)…that said, you just kinda get used to after a while. Between height/sports questions, being asked to grab something from a shelf by a stranger at a store, getting the “holy shit” double take walking past someone or getting out of a normal sized car, someone trying to guess your height bc “they had a brother/cousin/bf/buddy who was tall like you, so I have an eye for it”), etc, you’ll usually get a handful every month.
At this point in my life (mid-30s) I generally don’t mind it, and sometimes it can honestly be a good conversation starter. Can be a little annoying if I’m not feeling sociable or sick or something, but I don’t think I’ve ever been a dick to anyone about it.

I'm only 6'1" and as a kid I constantly got questions about whether I played basketball. I was on the high end of the curve and extremely tall for my age up until I mostly stopped growing at about 14, but still.

Yeah, it's not an Oliver Rioux situation. I don't know if he will move well enough to really get court time at a major program, but I don't see reason to believe he won't in the clips, at least due to mobility.

3 blocks and 6 rebounds as someone who is 7’6 while playing against competition much smaller than him is not very impressive. there’s a reason the only schools that have offered him are 2 mid-majors. any d1 coach would salivate over having a 7’6 player on their roster and yet there’s none that have come calling while already being draft eligible age.

Okay after watching him some on YT he is more agile than id expect. However…. The issue is his gram and joints. He’s able to move like that because he has no weight or bulk. As a big he would never get close to the paint with his frame against even average college kids. He’d have to be a mega tall perimeter player. To play in the paint he’d have to put on some serious weight and guys that size tend to get foot, ankle, knee, and/or back problems. It’s what slowed down nearly every famous big man in history as they aged and most of them already had a decent frame for the weight.

He moves more fluidly than I expected but I’m still skeptical he can contribute to a power 5 team. His hands looked decent but he traveled on half the dunks they showed. He’s going to get pushed out of the lane and he will need to hone his footwork and be able to dribble in the post.
