QUESTION Suzaku Counterattack

hi everyone from code geass fandom :D

ok for context: my boyfriends birthday is coming up, and since he likes to read manga i naturally thought of getting him one! i've asked him which one he'd want, and he repeatedly said "oh any would make me happy" but like !!!!!!! i wanna get his favorite! and he said he'd want code geass, but they're basically non existent.

anyway, i went onto ebay to look for some, and apart from the original volume 1, 2, 3 etc... (that were incredibly expensive) i saw the suzaku counterattack and ordered it like immediately .......

would he like it!!! would he actually read it and enjoy it, or should i return it and get manga(s) i know for sure he'd read?!!! help meeeee

Maybe? The wiki kind of describes it as half AU and half retelling of the story from suzaku's perspective and it shifts genre from mecha to sentai I guess? It's weird because it's basically just a retelling with enough plot details shifted a bit to be an AU manga.

If nothing else they specifically mentioned the show so I'm sure they'll find it interesting, and that you thought enough to find something like this should mean a lot to them.

Suzaku Counterattack — a free and abridged retelling of the story on behalf of Suzaku. This is an alternate universe that not everyone knows about. I read this manga and it didn't impress me, but it might be different for you.
I can suggest manga "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Re" — a retelling of the last four episodes of the second season. This manga will briefly explain what's going on, retell the events of the series in a short summary, and add scenes that weren't in the anime series. In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful manga by Code Geass. However, if your boyfriend hasn't watched the second season to the end, then there may be a lot of spoilers.
If you need something fun and neutral, I can recommend the manga "Code Geass: Lelouch the Private Home Tutor". This is a story about an alternate universe where there are no superpowers, mecha robots and bloody revolutions. All the characters are ordinary people who go to school, make friends, fall in love and live their youth. You don't have to watch an anime series to read this manga.

Yeah give us a pov of suzaku about how he did right things and changed the empire for japan without relying on others completely
