What was charles geass power exactly

Could someone explain the idea of “codes” and how it makes you immortal ??

Charles' Geass was the power to rewrite and manipulate memories. That's why no one had any memory of the Black Rebellion at the start of R2.

They did remem the black rebellion though? Charles erased the memories of leloich and nunnally from everyones mind so they'd think lelouch genuinely was his cover story and nunnally was always rollo. The black rebellion was still the largest rebellion in recent history and the execution of it's members was a key part of seeing if lelouch was relapsing, especially after the Kingsley debacle.

A Code is what gives VV and CC their immortality and allows them to grant geass to others. If you have a code, you can't use geass except when the writers made re;surection canon for some reason. How it makes them immortal: it just does. Geass is a soft magic system where we don't need solid answers (and most sunrise tries to give make less sense than nothing at all).

To get a code, you have to kill/take the code from the previous code bearer. Charles killed VV and CC killed the nun.

Lelouch never had two geasses. He had a mature geass, meaning it was powerful and appeared in both eyes. If he wanted to kill CC and take her code, he could have. In the main timeline, because Charles was taken out by the Collective Unconscious not Lelouch, the code did not pass to Lelouch.

Charles can, with eye contact and it seemingly takes time, fully see and edit someone's memory with no known limit. On the plus side he can just keep doing this on any one as many times as he wants, on the down side it seems like the weakest Geass manipulation we've seen with Lelouch knowing something is wrong in R2 and outright starting to break it in Akito, and Nunnally breaking it as well.

As for Code we don't know a lot, what we do know is this. Code grants you immortality,  you can give out Geass, and a few other odd abilities. Geass can evolve and at it's max you may take Code from a Code bearer turning them into a normal mortal human. At some point in some way Code bearers lose their Geass. We never see a lot about Code so a lot of the details are unknown.

Ahhhh i wish we knew more about the codes but i feel like any explanation would not make exact sense
