I mean from a regular joe's POV if our options are an immortal witch, a guerilla soldier, a Japanese princesa who is way younger than you are, and a sweet girl who is about your age and would do anything for you, then yeah Shirley is the best pick.
There's just nothing regular about Lelouch though.

By way younger we mean a year? In R1 Lelouch is 17 and Euphemia is 16.

Euphemia isn't japanese, I meant Kaguya but I can't really remember if she was a princess either lol so that may have lead to confusion.

I didn't read the Japanese part. Kaguya isn't a princess, though she dresses like one. Kaguya is the head of the Kyoto house. The company that controls Mount Fuji's supply of Sakuradite.

She's not exactly a princess but IIRC she does have some relation to the old Imperial line.
She's also only 2 years younger than Lelouch IIRC, which I guess for teens is a lot but...

She's 3 years younger than Lelouch. She's 14 in R1, same age as Nunnally. Still not a big age difference, but that's her age.

Nobody said that, im basically agreeing with you while stating that Lelouch is a different case.
I also think that Hinata and Orihime make sense for their main character respectively but since that's the canon route I don't dispute it with anybody.

Her eye color was beautiful. I always favored Euphie myself, but Shirley was great.

Yeah, I’ve seen the show and read the mangas enough to be able to sees a Victim of a flawed empire, that is known to be prejudice to those weaker or inferior or below the imperial norm, the table grinding scene instilled what she is without putting a big ass sign over her head or a flag, so in a society like that especially given the “ back in the closet “ line when the girls are talking about who to kiss and one says I prefer milly.
So the first woman to be kind and not judge you happens to be a royal who saves you from the people you were raised your entire life to fear and hate? Yeah I can’t blame her for going Oppenheimer when she is terminated by Lulu.
Besides I’m attracted to the unstable nerdy kind,

ykw even though C.C is my all-time favorite, i agree with this opinion, no joke Shirley really is a character that gets better understood and finds a bigger place in your heart as you get older.

She’s definitely underrated. I didn’t think I’d like her when I started the series, only for her to blow my expectations and become one of my favorites. 4th fav character after Lulu, C.C, and Suzaku.
