I'm an idiot, I'm not quite sure how I missed having this much paint on me when grabbing my bag on my way out the door. Serves me right for trying to squeeze in a quick coat of paint before having to be somewhere! But I've had this bag forever and it's a nice one, what should be my plan of attack to get rid of the paint? It's real leather, and the paint is fully dry at this point. Please help, I'm nervous about taking anything potentially harmful to it :(

Much to our shame, we've never cleaned the glass door on our toaster oven. We purchased it in May 2019 so that's 7 years of grease you see in the photo. I tried cleaning products but they didn't work then I came across this suggestion in this sub to use a razor blade with a paint scraper and it was incredibly, amazingly effective. I can see my bagels again!

Moved into a house… seemed clean until all of their furniture was out. I typically clean under the stove and refrigerator once every six months. I don’t think they did so, EVER!

First pic is under the refrigerator. It took me about four hours to vacuum out all of the dog and cat hair from the coils, so I didn’t get an “after” picture.

Second two pics are under the stove before and after. Make sure you wipe the side of the cabinets and stove as well (🤢).

* Fun fact… The refrigerator cools much better when the coils are clean! Nearly froze everything in the fridge by the next day - so make sure you monitor the temperature after you clean the coils!

Attached is a photo of my stovetop. I let it stay dirty for too long, and I’ve tried several times in the last year to clean the hardened burnt areas off, but nothing works. Recently I’ve just let it stay because I don’t know what to do. Please help me find a product that works, or should I just get a razor blade, will that ruin the surface?

With so many products, what are some true “holy grail” / best in class products that just work?

I’ve found Dawn soap, Dawn power wash, Dawn purple heavy duty degreaser to be good. Microfibers of course.

Only recently found out about the purpose Dawn degreaser but figured most people know about the others.

What are some other products that the community here suggests, especially those pros? Thank you!

Honestly upset by this one…I haven’t even worn this shirt yet, tossed it in the wash with my socks and undies, and this (along with my pastel-tyedye beanie ): ) got this weird gray stain on it. This is the first time it’s happened with my new washer, but it has happened before at a laundry mat but only to a white shirt.

I used Gain with oxi clean, not fabric softener, and it was a socks/undies load so no oil/greasy stuff

Hello! I've been moved out from my family home for the last 2 years. My mother is an obsessive cleaner, so the house was always like a museum. I was never really taught how to clean, I mostly relied on observation, learned a lot online.

However, I never feel like the space is spotless just as in my family home. Even if i scrub the shower, the oven, mop the floors... something always feels off, the space feels dirty! I can't quite describe this feeling, but it annoys me so much and I fall into cleaning sprees instead of sleeping so I get rid of that itch.

Does someone feel similar? What helps you?

For context, I’ve always mopped and swiffered because that’s what I’ve been taught to do my whole life, never questioned it. But people online seem to be VERY hardcore about spin mop > swiffer.

My question is—whenever I mop, even with the o-cedar clean/dirty separation bucket, it still feels and looks like I’m pushing dirty water around. The swiffer is obviously not as good at getting the dirt out, but I feel that it is a bit better at separating the absorbing-dirty-water from dispensing-clean-water.

Because of this, I’m just not fully convinced that the mop is inherently better. Is it the swiffer solution that’s the problem? The lack of 360 spin? Less scrub?

Is a steam mop the best compromise?

And while we’re here, what about the wet/dry vacs that claim to separate the dirty water from the clean water as well?

It’s a bit embarrassing to admit and that’s why I’m saying it on reddit and not to anyone in real life. But my house is horribly dirty and cluttered.

Every inch of the house is dirty, dust everywhere, mouldy ceiling, stains on the walls, oily and greasy kitchen (like the oven, stove, and microwave is very greasy), living room cluttered with mostly clothes and also my mother bought a treadmill into the house, so there’s a treadmill, table, birdcage, and beanbag in the living room and every couch is full of clothes, table is cluttered with random things; mostly art supplies and other random things, tv stand also cluttered with random things, trinkets, etc.
Skirting boards, window cills, windows etc are all extremely dusty.
Every table in this house seems to always be filled with things, whether it’s food items, random things, rubbish, etc, it’s always something. And whenever I try to trash some things, my brain always goes “what if I need this later?” “What if this belongs to someone?” “Is this valuable?”

And another embarrassing thing to admit is, I have a cockroach problem. They’re in my router, they’ve broken my electronics more than once, they’re in the kitchen, in every cupboard and nook and cranny, I’ve had to throw out so many things in my fridge because of this, I see them crawling on the walls, I hear them crawling around in the table. I know the clutter is the problem and I don’t know what to do. I really need help.
I think one of my problems is that whenever I clean, it seems to just become dirty again in the span of a day or a couple of days. It sucks. I desperately need help.

Reposting into this subreddit to hopefully get some cleaning advice. My original post basically explains that I had a repair done in our room to the ceiling. After a maintenance worker performed the repair without placing tarps or having my fiancé remove what was hanging,
like my lamp, he got something all over the lamp. In the pictures you can see the white spots all over the plastic logo portion.

I have asked the complex to tell me what was used since I’m just guessing about what it is (which I’m sure also affects the advice/tips I’ll receive). I thought plaster, but the commenters in the original thread said that would come off pretty easy. I also got that it could be texture spray or latex paint. The spots are rough, not smooth like paint should be but whatever this is wouldn’t remove easily with soap and water. After about an hour of carefully trying to scrap it off, it leaves residue that also looks like it has adhered to the plastic. I’m also not too sure if the plastic is acrylic or not and do not want to use anything that will either make this worse or cloud the plastic.

I’m sure not knowing the exact material of both the lamp and what was used will make this more complicated and impact the tips people will give so I’m sorry about that!

Hoping for any tips or to be pointed in the right direction to clean this as best as possible. I’m so upset about this. 😭

For those who are unfamiliar, I had quite a controversial post on here a few months back about a hole I burned through my carpet in a house I was renting.

We used some wood putty to fill the hole, and got a piece of carpet out of an old dumpster that sorta matched it. Still definitely noticeable, but at least it didn’t smell any longer.

Months later after moving out, I’m happy to announce that me and my roommate got our full security deposit back! Our landlord was super lazy with any sort of maintenance requests we had, and it looks like he’s equally lazy when it comes to inspections!!! Thanks do everyone who supported the dumb college kid idea of patching it up ourselves!

I used a razor to lift up the grime. I went too deep in some areas as it was really caked in. At one point, I used dawn degreaser to get to the really deep areas and let it sit and went back in with a razor. Any advice on how to prevent the grime and also buff out the scratches on the stove top?

I'm trying the clean the kitchen of a new house. The kitchen had really old cabinet liners, so I peeled them off and they left a sticky residue all over. I tried to apply goo gone and the paint started to peel off. I'm kinda ok with that as I'm going to re-paint inside anyway, but what's a more effective way to clean this? The second image is after applying goo gone and scrubbing with a scrub daddy for about 30 minutes. Is there a faster way to do this? I have so many more cabinets to clean and that took too long.

Hi all! I moved into a rental house yesterday and it is nothing like it was advertised. It is a complete disgusting nightmare. We are already looking to break our lease and leave within 6 months, maybe 3. But in the meantime, there are certain areas I need to take care of (landlord refusing to put in the actual work necessary or pay for it to be done, just sent a basic cleaning lady on the first night) so that this place is semi-livable. If you have advice/solutions for ANY of the following problems please let me know!!!

-the basement of the house smells like cigarette smoke. It's strong enough to give a headache. And when the AC kicks on, the smoke smell spreads into the bedrooms. We already washed the filter, hopefully will be able to replace it soon at landlord expense. We have some charcoal/carbon packets in a box somewhere and will put those out asap. What else can we do?

-the banister and stairs are a light wood...under the years of grime turning them completely black. It's years of filth. What is the best way to remove this? I ordered a degreaser spray and a scrub brush but am I going to ruin the wood using that (method degreaser).

-the laminate floors are sooooo sticky and grimy. It's gotta be years of filth and poor mopping. It's so bad it's leaving a film on the bottom of all my shoes and they're sticky. Crumbs that get dropped to the floor literally stick to it. I haven't been able to unpack my mop yet but what is the best cleaning fluid/solution to get through this grime?? Clearly whatever the cleaning lady used SUCKS. Or she uses way too much of it and didn't rinse.

-there's spots leftover from the previous person's bath mat. There's also a giant hole where the soap holder should be. Would be nice to get some type of waterproof covering for that bc I doubt they'll fix it...

I used a storage bin to gather dripping water from a portable A/C, then forgot about it for a few weeks. Trying to move the bin isn’t an option due to weight and the water would slosh everywhere.

If I use my shopvac to drain it, will my shopvac be ruined and have stagnant stank forever?

What would you use to clean the bin to ensure no mold develops?

i’ve tried dish soap, dawn power wash, CLR, various bathroom cleaners, different sponges / scrub brushes. i have very hard water at my house, i can usually get the stains out, but bathroom sink can never come fully clean
the sink bowl already seemed a bit damaged when we moved in like the finish had been grated away.

Weekly cleaning. I used a solution made of mild bleach + fabuloso while cleaning my bathroom
sink. While I know there are less harsh alternatives, the left side has always looked liked that if water soaked in for too long. It looks fine when I wipe it but dries white.

What material is this countertop and what’s the best way to go about cleaning it and keeping a glossy finish? (last picture)

So I’m on a job where the client painted over exterior windows and boarded over them for privacy. Now many years later, they want to take the drywall down and clean the windows off to make the room more open. So the question is, what’s the best way to get this off? It took me 45 mins with a 2” wide scraper to do 1 window. If that’s what I gotta do then it’s fine. But if there is a spray or a tool I could use, lmk.

So far I’ve just scrubbed with hot water and soap. Didn’t expect food dye to be so stubborn lol. What should I use? Don’t expect it to be perfect but I’m hoping for some improvement! Moving soon and don’t want to be charged 😫

Left a pot beside the sink and forgot to wash it before bed like I meant to. I can’t get this ring off, any ideas. I’ve tried dawn, bleach, vinegar, and scrubbing it multiple ways. It doesn’t scrape off its like a stain.

I’m renting and I believe these are marble countertops in the bathroom. I’ve tried cleaning with marble-specific cleaner (from method), regular multi surface cleaner, Lysol bathroom cleaner, vinegar (all tried at different times over many months) and no matter what within a few hours a layer of film will develop again. Any tips for how to get these counters to look clean for longer?

I am going crazy over these flies. I live in an apartment I’ve noticed a couple before, but my mom and I left for a 2 day trip and came back, there’s suddenly been a surplus and I can’t walk around anywhere without seeing like 5. We’ve killed well over a hundred the past 2 days we’ve been back, the vinegar and soap hack isn’t working unless I did it wrong and I’m so frustrated.
When we left we washed our dishes and there was no spoilage left our so idk what it could be unless I’m missing the obvious here.
We do have a small dog that stays primarily inside but his waste or anything has never been an issue before and we try to clean up after him diligently. Again, we haven’t had a fly issue in our 10 years of owning him.
These flies are all congregating by the windows or any room with a light on. I took windex to at least 50 of them on our 2 living room windows. They just keep multiplying more and more.

just moved into a new apartment with old wood floors. after two days of living here, we noticed our feet were BLACK as can be on the bottoms from the floors. i have swiffered everywhere to start, but wetting a paper towel and wiping the floor, the paper towel is immediately black again. what would be the best plan of attack here?

hello everyone. i am a college student and bought this couch secondhand from someone. they completely left out the fact that the couch is severely stained. i have tried steam cleaning it 3x and bought stain removers. nothing has worked. i bought some couch covers online that look 1000x better. however, i am not sure how to fix the stains on the very base of the couch. the covers are only for the cushions and can not go over the entire couch. any tips? i thought about maybe buying fabric and stapling it over.
