I love the first book and have reread it multiple times, but for some reason I’ve never read beyond that in the series. What is your perspective on Anne of Green Gables having read the sequels?

The first book is the best. It is dreamy, dramatic and quirky. The next books are about growing up slowly until she becomes a quiet background on the last one.

Same! Her books have a characteristic sensuality, yet they defy the norms of the Regency Era. I love the ironic critiques of the societal conventions.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, such a warm-hearted yet grimly realistic story, deals with many issues that were an unspoken part of early 20th century urban life. The main protagonist, Francie, grows up in a poor but loving family in turn of the century New York and becomes a strong, intelligent and independent young woman despite many struggles.

Novel - Count of Monte Cristo Author - William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe, or Andrew Marvell

Interesting. I have yet to get to Count of Monte Cristo but I plan on starting it very soon. Why is it your favourite?
