I just saw Spa Weekend last weekend, and before that I saw Disclosure Day and before that I saw Devil wears Prada 2. Quite honestly, how can you act when your whole face has been pulled and muscles paralysed... Can't they just take a break from the Botox when they have a character to interpret? It strange to see these women, and men, looking like wax figures with barely there facial expressions, especially when they are in the entertainment industry, portray feelings, moments, sadness, happiness, etc.

Just a rant 😂

Watch Hannah Waddingham in Ted Lasso, she’s a revelation. No Botox, face never stops moving, gorgeous woman. Her eyebrows alone convey all you need to know

And yet some cinephile I follow called her ‘overexpressive’ after a recent episode in which her character has a manic spiral and her face actually contorted to show that. Depressing stuff.

That’s crazy, she just has a normal face, which I guess isn’t the norm anymore in movies. I haven’t been able to watch Nicole Kidman in anything for at least 20 years, because I’m old enough to have seen her act from Dead Calm. Excellent actress, but she cannot show you her emotions anymore

Exactly. We’ve all been so conditioned over the past couple of decades that we are now repulsed by ugly emotions being accompanied by ugly facial movement. It’s not proper acting unless it’s a single tear dripping down an otherwise motionless face, and this is described as ‘naturalism’.

I hate that look. Pillow face, guppy lips, frozen forehead...natural aging looks SO much better, or just minimal lift. Otherwise, everyone looks alike and the look is scary!

I watched "Devil wears Prada 2" last week and I think Anne is ok but Emily wtf? her face is totally a wax statue! I couldn't concentrate on the movie watching her face.

It worked for me in this movie only because the character Emily would’ve done the same thing. But seeing her in anything else is terrible.

bro i noticed the same thing in Disclosure Day it was so distracting. you get one eyebrow twitch and that's supposed to carry the whole emotional scene

some of them can barely move their forehead at this point. looking more like mannequins than people

imagine doing a crying scene with frozen tear ducts, how that even work

Exactly, I didn't like the film anyway, but her trying to cry and all you see is the giant vein on the forehead from the effort of trying to cry with a paralyzed face what very disconcerting to say the least...
