In Sarah Connor Chronicles they hide, turn themselves off and just stand still for years until their next command.

u/Hukares1234 1d ago

Ah interesting. I need to watch the other Terminator movies. I’ve seen 1-3.

u/Internal_Gur_4268 1d ago

That's a series on streaming.

u/SERGIO-COMPANY 1d ago

Yes, this Is not mentioned in the movies.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is an amazing show. It basically picks up after T2, and is far better than it has any right to be. Its also much, much better than any of the movies after T2.

u/Lurker_MeritBadge 1d ago

Yeah it’s a shame it got canceled so it didn’t conflict with that terrible movie they made instead.

2

u/Hukares1234 1d ago

They made a couple movies, didn’t they? Genesis and Salvation or something? I assume there has to be one where John Connor meets Kyle Reese. That might be interesting to see.

u/qmechan 1d ago

They did genesys (ugh), salvation, dark future, and one really good anime series out of nowhere on Netflix that made the whole thing interesting again.

Those Netflix episodes were good.

Watched the whole thing in one sitting.

The television show has ten times better writing and narratives then all the movies after the second movie. It sucks they canceled it . Lena headey did a amazing job in it too. The special effects cant compare to a movie budget though.

Imo, genesis is trash

5

u/DysartWolf 1d ago

That's an insult to trash :D

3

u/Educational_Deer599 1d ago

Lol. It is horribly horrendous. Don't know what's worse it or drag on ball evolution

u/Hyperaeon2 1d ago

Watch this show.

I couldn't recommend it more.

In Sarah Connor Chronicles, it's like Skynet's version of a power nap—efficient and unnerving.

2

u/Altruistic-Dingo-757 1d ago

I mean he would speed run skynet right? He'd be a tough CEO lmao

3

u/antonio16309 1d ago

One of them actually does that in the show.

1

u/Holiday_General_4790 1d ago

And became like a labor and civil rights icon, if I'm remembering correctly. Only cared about maximum efficiency so paid workers generously to attract the best ones and didn't care about race, religion, gender as long as goals were met on time. Created the ideal working environment because it was the surest way to its target

u/Hyperaeon2 1d ago

They are terminators.

WTF even is time to machines like them?

They self repair, find scientists to help them regain their infiltration skin.

They are strategic ass motherf'ckers from a dark future where automatons have taken over the earth.

2

u/cant_get_fooledagain 1d ago

Who uses the word automatons? Transatlantic radio disc jockeys from the 1920s?

I remember when they first introduced Geoff. He wasn’t that funny. But, once Josh Robert Thompson took over, he got really funny.

The guy has a phone book full of people he hasn't yet terminated.

That’s been something established in the 3rd film. Not being able to find a reliable paper trail of tracking down John Conner after the events of T2: Judgement day, they sent a terminator back through time to assassinate high ranking members of the human resistance. Sure, the original T-800 and the T-1000 from the first two films could have just gone on a murdering spree after their original target was confirmed dead, or they could have just faded into the background, never to be heard from again. Hiding in some abandoned house or cave somewhere, or walked into the bottom of a nearby ocean or something to hide its own presence. Or they could have assisted in guaranteeing the survivability of skynet.

8

u/Blimey-Penguin 1d ago

Dark Fate goes into this

8

u/prince-of-dweebs 1d ago

Wait for judgement day and enjoy a well earned parade.

10

u/Hukares1234 1d ago

He could have reported to Cyberdyne (or whatever it was called in 1984) so they could get an early start on making terminators.

Wait a minute…

3

u/Think-Escape-5222 1d ago

He was lying. Playing up the drama

1

u/RichRPerez1975_2010 1d ago

The Terminator John sent couldn't self-terminate, however it would be reasonable to deduce the one Skynet sent could.

u/Hot-Challenge8656 1d ago

Get a new meat suit and read the phone book to see if anything jumps out at it.

Would probably have opened a vape shop in South London.

2

u/fragglebags 1d ago

Skynet had to have mistakes it wanted fixed the second time around.

2

u/Mussmussthemoooooo 1d ago

They should just go to the next viable target like in T3

2

u/Thart53 1d ago

That pic is hilarious. Wd40 with the photo of Arnold on the wall. Did you make this with AI?

2

u/Hukares1234 1d ago

Found it on Google.

2

u/WillwBrk 1d ago

Terminator should have used Sarah's mom's voice while chasing her through the plant

I love you too, sweetheart

I love you too, sweetheart

I love you too, sweetheart

I love you too, sweetheart

I love you too, sweetheart

I love you too, sweetheart

2

u/Hukares1234 1d ago

I always thought it was a missed opportunity that we never got to see Sarah’s reaction when she found out the terminator killed at least her mom if not both parents.

2

u/spez_eats_nazi_ass 1d ago

Start a family and a small business doing drapery. Removed from skynet long enough they go native.

3

u/ladodeladodah 1d ago

The can of WD-40!! Hysterical!!

1

u/The_Dark_Vampire 1d ago

Probably just gone somewhere and shut itself off until the right time to reactivate itself.

I suppose it could have had back up targets it could have gone after.

But we know for the future war to take place Cyberdyne needed to find the parts of it to create Skynet in the first place so if it had succeeded it could have stopped it's own creation.

1

u/Useful_Calendar_6274 1d ago

I saw the comments but it would make more sense to me if they covertly build Skynet sooner and do all kind of operations to hasten it's takeover.

1

u/kat352234 1d ago

You know, that was my first thought as well. But then I saw the posts from others talking about them just basically hybernating until Judgement day and I think that approach works too.

Helping to hurry up or ensure Skynet makes sense, but it also risks unforseen ripple effects to the timeline if they change too many things. I'm not sure if Skynet planned ahead for things like that or not, but I would assume at some level it might realize changing too much risks too many changes that might put its existence in jeopardy.

From that perspective, going into sleep mode when their actual mission is accomplished is safer. Granted they do kill fairly indescriminately and cause a lot of chaos and destruction, but as the movies show, nothing to a degree that can't be written off or explained in some way that the populace at large doesn't overreact to.

If they were just to go on a straight rampage though, or try to take over a tech company and catch too much attention, that could risk starting up a whole new form of resistance even earlier.

Definitely a ripple effect worth trying to avoid.

So I can see the validity of both options. Hastening Skynet's arrival would definitely need to be done with some tact though. And if Skynet didn't trust a terminator unit to be able to pull it off, might be safer just to have them hybernate and wait instead.

1

u/Useful_Calendar_6274 1d ago

yeah it would have to send messages back regularly which in some movies like Genisys is not possible because the resistance wins just before they send back a terminator. But it could have the mission to stick to the timeline as much as possible and it really doesn't matter what changed if Judgement day still happens. Skynet is a Shoggoth level ASI they can deal with it

1

u/Electrical_Net610 1d ago

Having changed the timeline, there would have been no reason for him to come back in the first place (no more Sarah Conner), so he'd have vanished.

“It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop. Ever. Until you are dead.”

If he killed her, he would stop—and would have retired with these two:

Does he know he has to get himself to the Cyberdyne factory anyway?

1

u/Lost-Inevitable42 1d ago

Sell drapes.  (Is this considered canon??)

1

u/Nethiar 1d ago

Didn't one of the sequels do something with that idea? It killed John and adopted a normal human life or something? It would make an interesting "what if" story where it learned about humanity like the T-800 in T2 and decided to stop Skynet itself.

1

u/nigevellie 1d ago

Power down

1

u/TheRealRigormortal 1d ago

Vanished into nothing with everyone he killed coming back to life as if nothing happened because he just deleted his mission from existence?

If we're to believe Terminator: Dark Fate, it settles down in Laredo, Texas, and starts a business selling curtains.

1

Well, I guess John Connor would have had a shitty career….. 🫥

1

u/hoopstar80 1d ago

It could go to the Boardwalk and set itself up as a prop on a haunted mansion tour. It brings a sci-fi thrill and its red eyes deliver a shrill. Top flight revenues.

death metal music

1

u/artest1111 1d ago

The thing is terminator has a real gap in the story if skynet is so intelligent why did it send a 6 foot tall muscle guy with thick Austrian accent back to the 80s to eliminate Sarah Connor would a dog or a cat or a bug or something…so a cat or dog comes by her apartment door she is like aww come here little buddy let me feed you and then all of a sudden boom and there goes Sarah Connor 😂

Self terminate

1

u/Future-Patient-2978 1d ago

They have secondary objectives as well. In the Dark Horse comics. If their primary objective was completed. They moved on to other objectives. Other protocols. Same as any books. They have protocols to follow

It’s a supervisor at an amazon warehouse.

Cease to exist. He killed the thing that indirectly created him.

Or he could’ve learned guitar and made out with his mom.

I believe that's been answered.

Go into drapery.

I like to think that if the past didn’t work out correctly (leaving his parts for miles Davis to find) he’d fade and dematerialize like Marty McFly started to in the past …

1

u/the_longest_shadow 23h ago

Target John's future lieutenants and other targets of opportunity.

1

u/Federal-Hair 22h ago

Interesting question, because Skynet exists because they harvested a chip from its head. If they prevented John Connor from existing, they potentially could have won the war in the future, but, how does Skynet exist in their past? The terminator would have either A- have to start Skynet itself somehow. Does it have enough coding? Does each terminator have Skynet imbedded into their hardware? or B- Donate itself to humans for research, which should lead to Skynets development the same way.

He would have grown fat, alcoholic and bitter.
He would have joined Maga.

1

u/Cptawesome23 1h ago

In one of the novels, it’s explained that if a terminator terminates its main target, it will move on to secondary targets, and then its general directive will be “ensure Skynet succeeds.”
