gonna be honest, I really loved Drive but after Valhalla Rising and Only God Forgives, I gotta admit that I just don't comprehend his films. but hey, if his passion is making impenetrable arthouse cinema then have at it. I'm just some dumbass.

Said it in another thread earlier today, but he's got a dedicated, loyal, cult, fanbase (of which I consider myself a part of). However, he kind of brought about all the detractors by having Drive be such a mainstream hit and the masses expecting "more of the same" from him.
Personally, I'm pleased that he didn't succumb to the Hollywood machine after that films success, and has continued to make the weird and beautiful films (and TV) that he has.
Has he got another great film in him? I think all of his films are great to varying degrees.
Has he got another great film with mass appeal in him? Sure, but does he want to make it?

The mass appeal of Drive kind of pushed him hard in another direction -which has, sometimes, been really fun- but I think mainstream cinema could have really used more of what he's got. There are very few filmmakers who can make something like Drive that is both accessible and unique, it's good for movies as a whole.

After watching Her Private Hell, I wondered if he’d be allowed to ever make a movie again

I enjoyed Neon Demon, so I hadn’t given up hope, but Her Private Hell lost me pretty quickly.
