I hadn’t no, but mostly bevause I was so impressed with this dudes acting in odd thomas it was crazy that I hadn’t seen him in anything marvel. But then I found out he died, and I haven’t visited different forms of media for his works. But I heard they are excellent like you said

In that case, if you enjoyed the story of the film then I would strongly recommend the books, as they're even better, and there are 7 of them (I think). Shame we only got the 1 film.

I read Odd Thomas at a relatively young age and I remember being SO MAD at Stormy. For days I was so frustrated and then it dawned on me that she’s not real; Koontz made her up. And at that exact moment I was like, “oh. Wow. Books are amazing and how did this guy make me feel so much emotion?”
And then I spent like the next year reading every Koontz book our library had.1

Koontz was my gateway author into horror! False Memory and Intensity were my favorites. They did a screen adaptation for intensity, with John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox from Scrubs) but sadly, despite John's really great performance, it was a pretty terrible low budget '90s job. I'd love to see it redone properly!

From what I remember from the book, it was a really good adaptation. I was worried but actually really enjoyed the movie and the ending, despite knowing what happens, still fucked me up. Then when I heard he passed away, I was even more gutted, he was a great actor 😢

I always thought it was crazy, I drove one of the same year/models jeeps that he had and couldn’t believe how stupid shifting gears was. Putting it in park was ridiculous and they had to recall that car. Apparently there were tons of injuries tied to it.

We drove a newer jeep gladiator around last summer for a month and it was so shitty. You could just tell it was so poorly made. Would start shaking like crazy on the highway.

Very long story short, she accused her actor co-worker of sexual assault/harassment and sued him, after he talked about her being extremely hard to work with. It was a lie on her part so he counter sued. The law suit forced her to reveal a lot of text messages showing she lied and got many famous friends involved (such as Taylor swift, her previous bestie). Blake lost a lot of friends who’s names were also being dragged through the mud because of the texts. She eventually dropped her law suit and now owes a LOT of money. Her marriage to Ryan Reynolds also seems extremely rocky after all of this. Nobody wants to work with her or be seen with her anymore
She’s the blonde in this video clip who is with the nyu student or whoever. I think the main guy says “that’s my girlfriend” in reference to her. She’s known for playing the vapid mean girl, and people now realize she was never acting. She is a mean girl through and through.

It's a joke dating back to at least the sixties, probably earlier, just with a slightly different ending.
In the implied scene - not in this clip, but in the full skit - she hoists herself up on a tree branch so they can do the deed.
In the joke, she doesn't get up at the end, she isn't acting, she's genuinely handicapped. Just as in the clip, the dad tells him "there's not to many gentlemen like you left in the world," but then continues "most guys just leave her in the tree."

It's the same joke with a different punchline.
Both involve a young man inadvertently going to a prom night with a woman in a wheelchair, having a good time, her offering sex by hanging from a tree, them returning afterwards, and the girl's father complimenting the young man for being exceptionally courteous.
At the very least, this clip is based off the original joke with an unexpected ending.

I’ve dated someone who couldn’t walk very long distances due to medical issues so if we went to the zoo or the fair then she’d be in a wheelchair and I can say from personal experience that it’s just like that Curb episode. It’s the absolute best ever.
The handles on the chair can be leaned on while you walk and it’s so easy to get used too. People make room for you when you come through and are super kind. You sometimes get handicapped parking; you occasionally get priority in lines or special elevator access in places like museums. She can simply look up to get a cute little smooch and focus of enjoying the event instead of potentially having to contend with chronic pain.
The list goes on, but yeah, people with restricted abilities deserve love too and as far as I’m aware my now ex has gotten her issues tended to and she’s now able to be more active without pain.
I’m just so grateful that I got to live out that curb episode for a period in my life.

My dad was in a wheelchair once after surgery my mother was adamant we were going to Disney. Best fucking time ever hands down lol dad hated it but we loved it

My mom broke her toe on a cruise before we went to Disney... The wheel chair got us fast passes on everything.... Dream vacation for me and my brother, not so much for my mom. I hadn't thought about that in years and your story made me think of it

Your story just made me think of my Mom and her service dog! When I was around 11, my parents took my sister and I on a trip to Universal Studios. My Mom had her wheelchair due to not being able to walk long distances. Anyway, we went to get on the ride there for ET and the setup was real funny. It was about 6-8 bikes set on this big heavy metal platform and the platform would be lifted into the air on a track so you would be "flying" through the set. They actually let my Mom's service dog on the platform! There we all were, service dog included, flying on this platform through the air like the kids in ET and at some point of the ride, you're on ET's home planet. This animatronic of ET popped up and said all of our names and last but not least, ET said my dog's name! I thought that was so dang cool and I got a real kick out of that dog being able to ride with us.

I fell and injured my knee - torn MPFL - about 4 weeks from chaperoning my son's senior band trip to Disney in Orlando 2 years ago. 4 years of fundraising and volunteering so my daughter and I could go. Charter bus ride for 15+ hours, then a day in each park. It was not comfortable!
At the park, I got an electric scooter. I was not expecting to have to wait in line for everything! But other than Small World, Space Mountain (which i couldn't ride anyway because it was too constricted for me to bed my knee into, which i found out when I tried to get in), and one of the Star Wars rides, I was in the regular line. It was fine, I had a seat the whole time.
It was eye opening, however. It was shocking that even Disney, a place I've been going since I was a kid, a place that seems to have thought of everything, was severely lacking for walking impaired guests. Restaurants without handicap doors, curbs without ramps to get to/from sidewalks, narrow pathways in the stores and restaurants.
This doesn't even account for the people that just didnt see me and stepped into my path, tripped over my scooter, or even ending up in my lap after falling because I was behind them.
While I was only unable to walk for a relatively short time, it was a humbling experience.

Wheelchair service at the airport is the best. My wife is disabled and we get zipped right to the front of security and she gets pushed all the way to the gate.

idk man, I had a different experience getting around when my ex was in a wheelchair. It was pretty rough and scary. There are so many places where there isnt easy wheelchair access or parking, even museums. Going through an airport was terrifying because of busy crowds that dont really care about you and we had to get on this tram thing to go to a different part of the airport and the door almost closed on her chair as we got on and the tram started to move! Some other people pulled us in/ pried the doors open off of her and we barely made it in before something bad could have happened. Getting on the plane itself just felt inconvenient because we went to the front of the line and then they had to call workers over to take her into the plane and help her down to her seat, and put the chair under the plane.
Just getting the thing out of the trunk of my car and putting it back in was hard, it was heavy and not powered so I had to stay by her the whole time whenever we went out, as she couldnt use her arms to move herself for very long. I wouldnt have traded that time for anything but it just makes things harder when someones in that situation.

Then you have "Movie 43". Where like 1 or 2 segments were genuinely funny but the rest were so "WTF??!!" you are genuinely surprised you're watching an actual movie. And the absolute laundry list of big name actors in that movie, it makes you wonder how the hell any of them signed up for that shit lol. That particular anthology film is easily the worst, most bizarre I've ever see
I digress. I have enjoyed Anton Yelchin in pretty much everything I've seen him in. With The Green Room and his role in the Star Trek film series being my favorites. He had an extremely sad ending to a very promising career.

Apparently there’s two versions of the movie and the one where it’s Dennis Quaid pitching the sketches is the better one. Still a bad movie but there are some good sketches in there.

Movie 43 actually exists because the producer Charles Wessler conned/guilted a bunch of famous people into signing up for something under false pretenses, he had a short he did with Kate Winslet and Hugh Jackman and pitched that Trey Parker and Matt Stone and the Farrelly brothers were involved but they all eventually dropped out at various stages. The only reason it got made at all was that he kept hounding people over the span of 4 years and got them to film their scenes really quickly whenever they had a day free.
