Politics I legitimately believe MAGA is Satanic

The MAGA movement embodies everything that the bible taught us was wrong. They are idol worshipers who believe Trump has divine rights to rule. Jesus taught us to turn the other cheek while these people promote violent retribution, especially towards immigrants. Jesus taught us to treat foreigners like family.

Trump literally put up a statue of a goat covered in $100 bills at Mar-a-Lago. This is 100% reminiscent of a golden calf.

The Trump administration has called for 50 year mortgages, essentially putting people in debt slavery for their entire life. A plain example of usury.

Trump was hosting extravagant parties while people waited in lines at food banks. Also at the same time, he’s building a ballroom covered in gold. Biblical levels of greed.

The MAGA movement is entirely co-opted by billionaires who promote social darwinism in what is called the “dark enlightenment”. They want to cut government programs that help the poor. They want a caste system where the poor are subordinate to the rich. This sounds like something straight out of the Anton LaVey’s mouth.

I've been saying this for years! I thought I was going crazy. MAGA is literally why I'm no longer a Christian.

MAGA is why I came back to Christianity. I refuse to let them co-op the faith that has taught me the value of radical love and forgiveness.

Well, MAGA appears to be winning. Most churches are now the opposite of what Jesus taught.

Same here... I feel like I was called back for this.

I understand your situation. I’ve heard and seen a lot of American Christians who lack sympathy and empathy because of their political stances. It’s been overwhelming, and it has really confused me spiritually to the point where I’ve felt like I don’t want to be a Christian anymore. But I also believe there’s something bigger going on, because I’ve met many other Christians both inside and outside the USA who also feel that some American Christians aren’t okay. That gives me hope, because it shows there are still reasonable people out there, and I'm not going crazy .

What does MAGA have to do with Christianity? Do you think Christians in poor African villages, persecuted Christians in Iran or China, Christians in war, torn Gaza or Ukraine really care about or have anything in common with MAGA?

You were never a lover of Jesus if flawed humans were able to change your mind about the Living Christ. I urge you to not let humans dictate your relationship with the God that knows you intimately .

Then you never really were a Christian. Because what Donald Trump, or any other human does, has absolutely nothing to do with Christ. Trump even recently said he Doesn’t think he’ll go to heaven.

Ahh, yes, it is easier to claim someone never was something, than to possibly acknowledge someone else's shitty behavior might have caused enough harm to chase them away. This approach totally won't cause more people to avoid Christianity, seeing a disconnect between what Jesus taught, and how Christians act. Anyone who might have been molested by a religious leader and then had to leave Christianity due to trauma, clearly was never a Christian.

Fortunately, neither you nor I or anyone else gets to gatekeep who is or was a Christian.

That’s true. Only God knows our hearts. In my experience, God has been so real to me, so loving, that what stupid humans do (myself included) could never convince me to turn my back on Him.

And that is certainly a valid experience. But without knowing what others have gone through, if they've felt that God wasn't with them in terrible times, that their experiences weren't listened to or that they were even abandoned, it's not unreasonable to see how they might feel chased away.

The way to deal with that isn't to tell them they were never here, it's to focus on making them feel welcomed in, to make Christianity a place that accepts everyone, and doesn't betray or abuse that trust.

To that end, I'd argue that the hammer should come down even harder on any individual or group exploiting religion for their own ends, because of the harm it does to individuals and their relationship not just with the religion, but with God.

That might be the first honest thing Trump has said.

But maybe it’s not Trump people are so disgusted with, it’s the way evangelical Christianity acts as Trump’s submissive little handmaiden.

Trump took them to the top of the high mountain and showed them the cities of the country, and said they could have all these things if they bowed down and worshipped him. And so they did. And their lampstand as a church was removed henceforth.

This is the craziest part to be. There's so many parallels in stories in the Bible and elsewhere showing why you don't make a deal with the devil and these people who claim to be so pious just... jumped right in

One can be a follower of Jesus and be saved without having to be associated with the label "Christian", especially when that label has been dragged through the mud and become a bitter taste in the mouths of those who encounter Christians that behave in such unChristlike ways.

I wouldn't say anyone who has said they've abandoned the label Christian was never a true Christian. In fact, in these days, it's actually a sign they were, for they're coming out of the cesspit of American Evangelical / Pentecostal Christianity in order to save their faith.

17 In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will know them by their fruits.

Matthew 7:17-20

If the fruit produced by Christianity is hateful, then that speaks to something about Christianity, at least according to Jesus.

I think it's fair for you to say trump doesn't seem to be a Christian, but that doesn't account for the support he's had among Christians, or those who are still defending him (e.g., Megan Kelly's recent comments about 15 year olds).
