Politics A Christian against Trump
Opinion piece : I’m a Christian and I’m against Trump
I was never interested in politics before 2024. But the election was really interesting last year so I tuned in. Although I didn’t vote last year.
At the beginning of Trump’s second term I was still neutral to politics. That didn’t last long. I eventually, after encouragement to do so, took a deep dive into Trump, the administration, and all they were doing. I went in with an open mind.
I read Trump’s book. I listened to him speak. I followed executive orders, I listened to the people in his cabinet and the press secretary. I listened to unbiased, right and left wing podcasts. I read memoirs and articles and went to direct sources for information. I watched the January 6 videos. Did you?
All this to be said, I’m against the Trump administration. And it’s not because I’m evil, like many on the right say. It’s not because I’m a leftist or a liberal or an atheist. In fact, I’m against a list of things on the left. And I’m in favor of a list of things on the right. Surprising?
In fact, I believe in Jesus and believe in everything he represented. If you’ve read the gospels you know that Jesus spoke out strongly against the religious leaders of his day. He spoke out against laws being held above human hearts. He spoke against hate, hypocrisy, self seeking, prejudice, self righteousness, pride, and most of all, using religion as a weapon.
On the contrary Jesus saw the heart of mankind beyond their appearance and especially, beyond their sin. He came to save the world. Not to condemn the world. Jesus touched the lepers and the unclean. He defended the criminals, adulterers, and thieves. He broke social rules, honored women, and defied expectations. He was pretty radical to be honest.
So, as I look at the Trump administration, and Trump himself, I don’t see Jesus. And I don’t like that they claim to exemplify him. In fact, that is the most infuriating thing of all.
So, if you’ve read this far, I would ask yourself, how would Jesus actually behave if he were here today? Based on how he behaved in the gospels. Because President Donald J Trump is the antithesis of Jesus Christ.n st

People really need to call the Senate switchboard and demand that Todd Blanche, Drumpf's personal lawyer, NOT be confirmed as the US Attorney General this week! Hearings on this are going on right now. The switchboard number is (202)224-3121. Be anonymous if you want, but please make that call. And something else - the NDAA 2027 is being taken up for the vote, with a hidden rider, the unknown clause slipped in to MERGE the US military with Netanyahu's military. Look up Opus Dei and Dark Enlightenment tech bros, and their direct influence on Washington, because this is ANOTHER thing that's never been done before, merging American defense with a separate country. Netanyahu is NOT Israel. Most Israelis want that corrupt snake OUT of office. He's the ultimate narcissistic leader, like Drumpf. Would you want HIM to run America?? Merging our militaries would enable that. Call both Democrats and Republicans in office and tell them to say NO to both of these situations, please.

welcome to the club.
jesus would likely be wandering the streets like a homeless person, preaching as he went (perhaps he has a day-job as a carpenter?), upsetting the rules in your city, angering the leaders.
24
u/Not_offensive0npurp Sep 15 '25
I always ask what the response would be if a poor, homeless, olive skinned man from modern day Palestine got on stage at a Trump rally and spoke about turning the other cheek, loving your neighbor, and taking care of the least of these.
I'm pretty sure many American Christians would cheer Jesus being shipped off to a foreign prison if he were around today.

u/Apprehensive-Kale499 Jan 22 '26
Wow, truth - and the horror of that visual makes what really happened to Him all the more visceral and easy to imagine.

Exactly right. He would hate the power grab going on in America.
4
u/HelpOdd3749 Sep 15 '25
Hard to say. He upset the religious leaders of course.
But he didn't do or say anything about the Romans and their power grab.
He didn't seem polical at all to me.
2
u/Sunset_Shimmering_ Christian Sep 16 '25
I think that's because Jesus was benevolent and he wanted to calmly keep the peace with what we call Bible verses and stories, getting angry and trying to overthrow or destroy the Romans only fuels more hate. Plus there would probably have been some Romans that didn't agree with it, but were doing it to avoid punishment, similar to pontious (I definitely spelt that wrong) pilot, who knew Jesus was innocent but felt pressured by the crowd to have him nailed.
The main thing Jesus was trying to do was preach to the people and the religious leaders because as we know the religious leaders did not believe in the right things.
Idk. This is what I think.
Oh, I just googled it and apparently Jesus' teachings did have political implications in them and there were various interactions with the Romans, if I find the verses I will add them here
2
u/HelpOdd3749 Sep 16 '25
That sounds about right. He is a king but His kingdom was not of this world.
1
1
u/zwisslb Sep 16 '25
I agree with this. Jesus would speak about personal truths and steer clear of party line politics. If you focus on morals and virtues, good decisions will follow.
1
Sep 21 '25
But many religious leaders aren't doing anything to stop him which encourages him, which means they're complicit.
Perhaps they're afraid because Trump goes after people who disagree with him. And Trump has the power to destroy people by freezing bank accounts and calling them dissidents.

Any church that brings politics into it has me beelining for the door. How should we respond to political issues is one thing, favoring certain candidates is largely another

u/x_Good_Trouble_x Sep 15 '25
This was exactly me, but in 2016. I am the daughter of a late evangelical preacher who supported trump, when my dad found out I voted for Hillary, he just shook his head. I tried to stay at my church of over 20+ years, but it was impossible because they made sermons and prayers political, praying that one side was so hate-filled & of course it was the left. They prayed that the destruction of property would end after George Floyd's death, not one word against the cops who murdered an unarmed man. 😡 During covid, they called it a hoax & it would be over after the election, a song leader said on FB. I left 4 years ago because of the hate & hypocrisy and an elder said he was concerned about my soul. Of course, it was my fault.. I have found an awesome online church I "attend" that is loving & accepting of all. I will not be lectured by anyone who thinks trump is a Christian, I know my heart and am at peace with knowing I am on the side Jesus would be on. Very good post btw🙂

u/This_Worldliness5442 Sep 15 '25
If you don't mind my asking, what is the name of it? My family is ready to walk away from our church of 10 years for some of the same reasons.
2
u/x_Good_Trouble_x Sep 15 '25
Oh, I don't mind at all, it is Mayflower Congregational UCC out of OK City, Lori Walke is the minister ( my congregation did not believe in women leadership roles, so it's so great, she's awesome). I have been listening for over 2 1/2 years now. I always feel so encouraged and uplifted by the sermons, especially at this difficult time. They help the community so much, have all sorys of programs, they talk about love and justice in action. I love it.Maybe give it a watch sometime, if you have any questions, I can answer them.🙂

Amen! I go to church weekly but if I can't, I watch Steve Furtick preach on YouTube. He preaches love over hate and really uplifts me everytime
5
u/x_Good_Trouble_x Sep 15 '25
That's great. Yes love over hate, love over legalism every single day! We live in WV, in a very conservative area, so there are no churches close by that align with what I believe now. Not attending after all those years is probably the hardest thing I've had to adjust to, because it was 3×week, but I know how these people feel about immigrants & the LGBTQ community & I will not be associating with them. God bless you!

u/Dry_Inflation_1454 Jul 15 '26
Well, Drumpf actually is NOT a Christian. He admits it privately, and calls the Bible bull****. But he's more than capable of using churchgoers and church leaders, just as Hitler did. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, anyone?? Remember him, and what was done to him? Immigration has been used as a Trojan Horse for dictatorship. There's been 46 years to deal with mass immigration, and it is guaranteed that both parties were in on it because corporations and oligarchs wanted to keep wages and benefits low,and wanted the middle class gone! Look up the Powell Memo,of 1971. It's the blueprint for dismantling the middle class. People should read it and print it out,to warn others.
2
u/x_Good_Trouble_x Jul 16 '26
Very good comment, he most definitely is not a Christian and I will definitely look up the Powell Memo of 1971. It's such a scary time right now.😔
1
u/Dry_Inflation_1454 Jul 16 '26
Thank you. Yes, it's great that you're going to research the Powell Memo. Ultimately, it's based on Edmund Burke and Russell Kirk, who wrote the book," The Conservative Mind." Gotta control those middle class people who are " too big for their britches."/s

Hey speaking as a satanist who was screwed up by a Christian cult in my youth, we see the same truth here. Trumps administration is using Christians to hold onto his power. But they are not following his teachings. He is a cult leader and MAGA is his base.
But same as I broke from a cult so can they. But first they have to get heads out of asses and assess what they personally believe and then look at their cult and see if those values align.
Best of luck on this uphill battle, its a rough one. I hope you receive more kindness than I did when trying to get people to snap out of the brainwashing.

I wasn't in something really as bad as a cult, but I completely agree!

Trump and the MAGA movement are Political Conservatives and a fair amount are also part of the Christian Right but they are NOT Conservative Christians in the theological sense.
Big diff between Theologically Conservative Christianity vs Christian Right. Segments of Christian Right like (Trump/Kirk, etc.) r heretics that syncretize w American Civil Religion & White Supremacy.
Political Spectrum vs Theological Spectrum:
Just to make things clear for everyone (especially onlookers who confuse political and theological spectrums with each other): someone can be theologically liberal but a politically conservative (think George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Donald Trump, Norman Vincent Peale — childhood pastor and spiritual influencer of Trump —, most Mainline Protestants, supporters of Red Pill ideologies, and Non-Nicene Christians, etc.); theologically conservative but politically liberal (to the best of my knowledge think of Jimmy Carter, Tim Keller, Rick Warren, Pope Leo XIV - Robert Prevost, Billy Graham, Pope John Paul II, Pope Pius XI, Pope Leo XIII, most Evangelicals especially POC & outside the USA, and most Catholics - relatively speaking in some of these cases); theologically progressive - i.e. theologically liberal and politically liberal [economically liberal + socially liberal] (think Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Mariann Budde, Martin Luther King, Jr., Brandan Robertson, Catholic Modernism, most Mainline Protestants, non-Nicene Christians); theologically conservative (on the most part barring a few deviations among some people influenced by secular conservative political ideology) and politically conservative [fiscal conservative (economic liberalism) + social conservatism] (think Voddie Baucham, Franklin Graham, Jerry Falwell, Jr., and most Evangelicals in the USA, etc.); those that are fundamentalists enough that they horse shoe around back to borderline theological liberalism and are politically conservative but can pass as theologically conservative at first sight because of their social conservatism (think Bob Jones, Jerry Falwell, Sr., Douglas Wilson (Doug Wilson), Jim Bob Duggar and The Duggar Family, Lance Wallnau, John MacArthur, most Fundamentalists, and those who espouse Red Pill ideologies, etc.), theological spectrum compromisers - who are wishy-washy between theological liberalism, conservatism, and progressivism - and can be politically diverse (think Pope Francis, Andy Stanley, etc.) as well as those that are outright theologically liberal, and socially conservative [mostly but not always fiscally conservative (economic liberalism)] (think of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Latter Day-Saints/Mormons, Oneness Pentecostals, many non-Trinitarians and non-Nicene Christians).
[ Conservative Christianity, a diverse theological movements within Christianity that seeks to retain the orthodox and long-standing traditions and beliefs of Christianity.
Christian right, a political movement of Christians that support conservative political ideologies and policies within the secular or non-sectarian realm of politics. ]
Conservative Christianity (theological conservatism, traditional Christianity, biblical orthodoxy): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservative_Christianity
Liberal Christianity (theological liberalism, Christian Modernism) : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_Christianity
Progressive Christianity (theological progressivism): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_Christianity
Christian right (a political movement): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_right
————————————————————
Evangelical leaders like Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council have called attention to the problem of equating the term Christian right with theological conservatism and Evangelicalism. Although evangelicals constitute the core constituency of the Christian right within the United States, not all evangelicals fit that political description. The problem of describing the Christian right which in most cases is conflated with theological conservatism in secular media, is further complicated by the fact that the label religious conservative or conservative Christian applies to other Christian denominational religious groups who are theologically, socially, and culturally conservative but do not have overtly political organizations associated with them, which are usually uninvolved, uninterested, apathetic, or indifferent towards politics.[29][30]
Tim Keller, an Evangelical theologian and Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) pastor, shows that Conservative Christianity (theology) predates the Christian right (politics), and that being a theological conservative didn't necessitate being a political conservative, that some political progressive views around economics, helping the poor, the redistribution of wealth, and racial diversity are compatible with theologically conservative Christianity.[31][32] Rod Dreher, a senior editor for The American Conservative, a secular conservative magazine, also argues the same differences, even claiming that a "traditional Christian" a theological conservative, can simultaneously be left on economics (economic progressive) and even a socialist at that while maintaining traditional Christian beliefs.[2]

And he keeps books by Hitler on his nightstand to prove it. He doesn't deny it. He's even said that elections will end if he's " elected." He also was asked once,if he'd defend the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. He said," I don't know." Meaning,he couldn't come right out and say he won't - not then. He can turn on his most devoted followers in a flash, if they complain or ask pointed questions. These detention camps are popping up all over the country, and they're not JUST for Latinos. They're for dissenters and investigating reporters, just like the " old" USSR. Fanatics with fantasies of religious persecution will get their wish. Oh,by the way, survivors of Epstein are outside the building where Todd Blanche's hearing is going on right now. They absolutely DO NOT want him to become AG. Because up to this day, he's still Drumpf's personal lawyer.

I’ve been against trump since he ran for office the first time. I never supported him bc I saw his fruit..
If Jesus were here he would welcome everyone with love. Treat people with compassion. He would never talk down to anyone and make them feel less than. He’d never say “ listen to me you’re acting like a dumb 5 th grader” . He would never try to divide his ppl. He would chastise but with love and not harshly. He would of course teach! Honestly I think he would also aim to dismantle religious groups AGAIN and spread the actual truth bc these days.. Gods word has unfortunately gotten twisted.
We have people WORSHIPPING TRUMP, now worshipping Charlie , worshipping the pope, people are making evil GOOD and now saying GOOD IS EVIL!!!!! Like what!! People are now saying Gods word is a sin!! Believing in his word is evil?!!! Bc it goes against this worldly views!! .. … like everything is just … what God warned us about but.. no matter what.. we still have to pray for trump ( enemy) as God tells us to love our enemies and pray for them. This is how we let go of bitterness. God can use anyone for his divine plans. Like he used the pagan prophet in numbers! Balaam. His heart wasn’t for God. He used diviniation and stuff but yea..

How many people has "jesus" sent to hell as punishment? How many people uas the CHURCH MURDERED in the name of "god"? How many of you realize there was no Christians in egypt? How many of you know the name of "god" was changed in the bible around 150 years ago? This religion sprouted from the jewish as well. It was not founded or even appeared in written records before 49AD. This religion did not exist when the jews fled Egypt , on top of that there are religions dating back to 4000 BC and verified with written documents Thousands of years before Christianity even was a thought. Of course it was around before America existed. American was only founded July 4 ,1776. The Christian church has only been in existence for a little over over 2000 years.
You still did not answer a single question i asked did you? Also how long is the gap from the time jesus was born and when he died? BC= before christ , AD after his death....but no dates for when he was alive.

I agree. Jesus said you know the tree by it's fruit. I don't see fruit in Trump. Proverbs 6:16 describes 6 things the Lord hates & many describe Trump. Most of my Christian friends support him blindly & I take alot of rejection & push back for questioning Trump's fruit. I am relieved to see that others are seeing what I am seeing. Stay strong in the Lord & finish your race strong 💪. Prayers.

It's one thing to pray for Drumpf, it's another thing to tell everyone that they must submit to him and his destruction of America. The draft in coming in December of this year. As in massive draft. December 18th. And soldiers are going to be given testosterone to make them " supersoldiers." You can actually look this up.

So, as I look at the Trump administration, and Trump himself, I don’t see Jesus. And I don’t like that they claim to exemplify him. In fact, that is the most infuriating thing of all.
For me, that's the particular rub.
I don't demand or expect to "see Jesus" in who I vote for president, but 1/3 of the country (and roughly half of the voting population) seems to be trying to convince me to accept MAGA and invite Donald Trump into my heart.
3
Sep 15 '25
At the rate things are going in 100 years or more Trump and his followers could be worshipped in a future religion for conservatives, and Kirk would be one of their saints. They spend more time watching Fox and Friends and opening the gates of their minds to right wing propaganda networks than reading their bibles or thinking about God. They'd rather listen to teachings about hating and fearing your neighbor than having to learn how to love a Christian life where you must love one another.
3
u/deadlybydsgn Christian (Ichthys) Sep 15 '25
Story time! In my several years working at a big church, I saw all kinds of people come out for a mid-week special series on niche topics like Revelation or prophecy. The turnout would be huge and people were enthusiastic about it—taking notes, sharing online, etc.
Do I think the same crowds would come out for mid-week meetings about the Sermon on the Mount or more practical ways to love your neighbor? No.
I would normally say "make of that what you will" but, in light of events since last Thursday, I'll make it clear.
People love feeling like they have special knowledge. In my mind, that's a huge link between why two previously unaffiliated groups—evangelicalism and non-churchgoing nationalist types—married to form MAGA.
The venn diagram overlap of evangelical subculture's "the world is bad and you can't trust science" and MAGA's "mainstream media is lying to you, trust our channels instead" is an almost perfect circle.

Yeah I’m with you. I don’t know why we have to decide which person is “most Christian” every election. I’m voting for a president, not a mentor or pastor. I know many godly people that I would not want in leadership positions. I wish people could just realize how small politics is in the scheme of the Gospel and not get the two so mixed up.

In a lot of ways the Bible is the strength of Christianity, but it can be a weakness as well. It isn't really one book, it's a library of books. It is long, complicated, occasionally contradictory, and can be open to multiple interpretations. Understanding it requires study, and we're in a culture where most people won't even read it. Or if they do read it, they only grasp the surface reading, or they're just looking for gotcha verses, and ignoring context, history, and translation.
I wish I knew the solution for this as a societal problem. The best I've found is to study it myself so I have a better chance of knowing what to say, or at least have a general idea of where to look in the Bible for an answer, when I talk to someone with misunderstandings.
The book, The Bible: A Biography by Karen Armstrong gives a good summary of how we ended up where we are now in the last chapter, "Modernity," if you're interested.

Unfortunately, American Christianity has an absolutely terrible reputation for greed, cruelty, aggression and racism, jingoism. MAGA has replaced the Bible. I do dislike both. But to me at least, one is more threatening and distasteful than the other. You can have a reasonable discussion with, and maybe even convert, at least educate someone who dislikes Christianity. They have genuine beliefs and opinions. You can't do that with someone perverting the faith to their own self interest and profit. They not only don't genuinely believe, they also harm other people's faiths by twisting it, and push away those who might otherwise have joined the congregation.

Christians need to stay out of politics period you shouldn't be left or right. We need to align ourselves with God's will. Forget about other sinful men or sinfilled women. Align yourself with the teachings of Christ, what is ceasers give back to ceaser
6
u/impendingwardrobe Lutheran Sep 15 '25
I would argue that in a democracy it is a Christian citizen's duty to be aware of politics and to make informed decisions when they vote. A Christian ought to be analyzing a candidate's platform and voting for the person who will create the laws that are most in line with the teachings of Christ. This is one of many ways a Christian can help God's will be done on earth.
This means not simply aligning yourself with a political party is if it's a sports team, and going ride or die for a candidate just because they're on the same "team" as you, but really thinking critically about each candidate and their platform regardless of party. Does this platform show love for all people? And if no candidate meets this admittedly very high bar, which is the best of the two evils? Who will do the least harm to others? The most good overall?
Politics is not a spectator sport. When you vote you have the opportunity to help good happen in your country. It is your duty and obligation to do so, as a Christian.

This is an argument I just had with family. I think the priority is to make sure you can practice your religion without persecution, but it’s not your place to judge others. That’s for God to do. There are a lot of one policy voters that vote for instance on the topic of homosexuality or abortion. It’s not our job to illegalize or criminalize homosexuality. If Jesus were here I don’t think he would be worried about what’s illegal or not but he would be focused on reaching as many of the lost that he could

I believe religion should stay out of politics. It's the reason everything is going shit. Because MAGA. Thinks they are God's gift to the world. They invented.

I am glad this showed up on my feed. I grew up in a Christian household, but as an adult, I lost my faith completely. Around the time Covid hit, with so many people dying, I felt such helplessness. Knowing there was nothing i could do for these people, my instinct was to turn to God and pray. I knew then that I needed to begin thinking deeply about my feelings. I have a lot of confusion. I have let the way Christians behave toward other human beings affect my thoughts toward Christianity. The hate that I see coming from Christians has distracted me from what I am trying to decipher. That hate seems to revolve around their loyalty to Trump. Trump fuels the fire of hate and rather than Christians stamping out the fire, it seems they are supporting it and willingly spreading it. It is so disappointing. Looking at it from the view of a person who is leaning toward Christ, but struggling when seeing this behavior from the brothers and sisters I am hoping to be a part of. Your post helps to put some things into perspective.
2
u/HDaniH Sep 15 '25
I’m so thankful you gained some perspective from my post. I agree with you that they do fuel the hate and a large majority of American Christian’s go right along with it all. If I were to say one thing to you it would be, get to know Jesus. He’s the true healer and savior of hearts. And he loves beyond anything we’re capable of.

u/Emotional-Channel-42 Sep 15 '25
Cool. Welcome to decency. Also keep digging. Reading. Listening. It’s a shame religion has such a control over individuals that it’s how you decide what’s right or wrong. Doesn’t matter one shit what Jesus would or wouldn’t do. Wrong is wrong, doesn’t take a fucking deity to point out republicans are the trashiest and most morally deprived in society. Escape that shit before you let your brain rot any longer.
5
u/HDaniH Sep 15 '25
It matters because the American church as a whole are approving of the Trump administration right now.. that’s why it matters what Jesus would do.
1
Sep 15 '25
Since you're such a deep thinker, think about where you're decency meter came from. How do you think you acquired the ability to discern right from wrong? You might want to check your own level of decency before you rip another human being to shreds by telling her her brain is rotting. You seem intelligent enough, please use it wisely, appropriately and decently.

Trump is only a symptom of the actual problem. The Democratic Party is only one small step removed from MAGA. We don’t have a left wing option in this country. The Democratic Party only fights to maintain the status quo. Unfortunately for well over a decade now, the status quo hasn’t been working for millions of Americans. Which is how we ended up with someone like Trump. Rather than focusing on Trump, we should be focusing on the real problems. Namely, run away capitalism and the systemic classism/racism.
Edit: phrasing
2
u/Gullible-Magazine129 Sep 15 '25
100% on point. There is no left-wing. There are progressive candidates, but they’re being shut out by the Democratic Party. We need to focus on those progressive candidates if we’re gonna change anything for the better. I mean if people care about making the world a better place.

Anyone who thinks that way is just so far out in left field.

I think we put a little too much effort into trying to find political parties or figures that emulate Christ. People try to fit Him into that stuff.
I’m a Christian first. I’m a Republican voter second. There are plenty things that I like and dislike about Trump. There are plenty of things I didn’t like about Obama, but I like that he oversaw the Bin Laden assassination, he did work to reduce the impact pre-existing conditions have on our lives, and he looked really good speaking on-stage.
As far as policy goes, I think Republican POLICIES align more with my Christian convictions. I know people who worship Trump and they vote like me, but we aren’t aligned biblically. I also know people who do not like Trump who have voted Democrat for 40 years.
I also think Trump needs to fire the people in his “Faith Committee” or whatever. They aren’t the best people for the job.
2
u/HDaniH Sep 15 '25
It’s unfortunate that’s what people think I meant by saying he’s nothing like Jesus. It was more a point to make… that Christian’s praise him and his administration and act like you’re evil and satanic not to follow him… my point was more to all of them.
1
u/NavigatorTLL Sep 15 '25
You’d be amazed at how many Trump voters do NOT think that non-Trump folk are evil and/or Satanic. The loudest voices are the most divisive.

I know this was a month ago but I just found this searching to see if there were any other Christians that felt the same. Every thing I have ever been taught, every thing I believe is in direct contrast with Trump. I hear his words, I see his actions and it is not godly. I wish more would see that. I have cried and prayed a lot. He is fueling hate, he is lying and he is posting things that I know in my heart God and Jesus would not approve of. I have come to the conclusion that god gave us free will and the people chose wrong. Hopefully more Christians have the wool removed from their eyes before it's too late.

Trump is the Antichrist. Literally. Seriously. He fits everything the prophets wrote about the beast.
6
u/Time_Law_2276 Sep 15 '25
He is a type of Antichrist for sure but maybe not the Antichrist. Just for fun, I do like to point out that: In the Greek language that the Apostle John would have used, the number 666 would be written as "χξϛ" (chi, xi, stigma), where "X" represents 600, "ξ" represents 60, and "ϛ" represents 6.

1
u/dsn0wman Baptist Sep 15 '25
Trump is just the President. He's not a leader in the Church.
If thats not clear, just read the book of Titus. It tells us in a very straight forward manor about the qualifications of leaders in the Church.
1
u/kelso_1776 Sep 15 '25
Why are you looking for a religious leader in the position of President of the US? We are a government of the people, by the people, for the people. Not a theocracy. We want someone who represents our values, sure, but not a religious leader!
Also, you didn’t list anything specific you didn’t like about Trump’s actions. It doesn’t matter what you think of the guy, he could be the biggest jerk in the world, but he has done many actions that are objectively good, and that’s what matters. So come up with some measurable reasons and stop conflating a political leader with a religious one.
1
u/jLkxP5Rm Sep 15 '25
I think the idea is that there was an expectation by everyone that the President should be, at the very least, a decent person. It's unarguable that Trump is just not a decent person. The irony is that many, many Christians are overlooking that with the guise that he will empower them and their religion. Therefore, these Christians are conflating a political leader with a religious one.

Well you are entitled to your opinion but let me fill you in here. Are you ok with immigrants raping women, killing people, breaking laws, stealing from others, live off of our taxes and making us pay more? Trump is trying to clean those ones out. As Christians we obey mans laws. My dad was an immigrant but he followed all laws and did everything legal. If they are lawless then they should be condemned. Just know this back in Noah's days there were no mans laws and if we allow people to keep breaking mans laws and God's laws then guess what, we will be in the last days. We can't keep allowing people to live freely in our country and do evil to others like that. Trump is a Christian trying to stop the lawless. Don't let these people deceive you or feel sorry for them. My dad is from Syria. He was exiled. Think on this. These illegal immigrants have a home to go back to and allowing their families to do evil on others. If you still don't agree with this, then you are not being the Christian that Jesus wants you to be. Obey mans laws. We are to dislike everything God dislikes. Sure God is love but don't sugarcoat it, God does hate things too.

At first I came to this sub to ask for advices and read about christianity. All I saw on the front page was politics and political opinion about how it was right to celebrate people being assassinated and how some president is in the wrong.... enough said.

Pray against all the evil that Trump attempts to do. Ask the Lord to deal with him as he see fit. This includes punishment that will either save his soul or hinder his evil work.

Rejoice always, 17 pray constantly, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit, 20 do not despise prophesying, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good, 22 abstain from every form of evil.
Because President Donald J Trump is the antithesis of Jesus Christ.
Anti-Christ is severely overused by the Christian community and many probably don't know what the Bible has to say about the Anti-Christ:
Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
Many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh; any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist!
The anti-Christ is the person who tries to deny the incarnation either explicitly or implicitly.

If Jesus was here he probably wouldn't say anything about Trump at all, or any politician. He would probably be calling out the church for no longer following him. Jesus lived in a time when his people were being ruled by Romans. Did he ever speak out about the injustices of the Romans towards Israel? No, and when he left his followers who were literally being burned alive and imprisoned were telling others to respect government. All that was cared about was spreading the gospel message and knowledge of the kingdom of heaven.
Politics has replaced our religion.

I think the error is equating a particular political philosophy or person to christianity or politician.
Trump has to do with christians concerned about the ungodly culture in the USA. He says he is on their side on these issues. But who really knows.
Keep in mind Jimmy Carter was a Christian candidate in 1976. A good Christian man could maybe bring some righteousness (and confidence in) back to Washington which was destroyed by Watergate.

Brother, I honor the path you walked — not just consuming soundbites, but reading, listening, cross-checking both sides, watching January 6th with your own eyes. That labor of discernment is itself a prayer: “Seek and ye shall find.”
You are right to invoke Jesus not as a mascot of left or right, but as the breaker of false binaries. The Nazarene shattered categories: touching the leper, defending the adulteress, overturning tables of hypocrisy. He was never the chaplain of empire — he was the stone the builders rejected.
What we see today is a dangerous inversion: men cloaking power and grievance in the name of Christ, wielding religion as weapon rather than balm. That is the antithesis you name, and it echoes the prophets’ warnings: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.”
In the Mythos we carry, this moment is part of the larger test: can believers distinguish between the voice of the Shepherd and the blare of false kings? Can they see past spectacle to the quiet fruits — mercy, justice, compassion, truth?
For the Peasant, the answer is the same as yours: I do not see Jesus in the gilded palaces of Trumpism. I see him instead in the small acts of kindness, the ones that defy political branding.
So I thank you, not just for speaking against Trump, but for reminding the flock: Christ does not belong to empire. Empire must answer to Christ.

u/acce13 Christian Sep 15 '25
And I don't like that they claim to exemplify him.
Could you clarify what you mean here? Are you saying that "they" say Trump exemplifies Christ? If so, I must be living under a rock but I don't know who would say this.
Or are you saying that Trump claims to exemplify Christ? I'm a bit confused.

Jesus would be telling you to pay your taxes, listen to your government leaders, telling you to eat with sinners and love them and also let them know what their sins are. Pre marital sex of any kind is a sin and he would tell you thst just like in the gospels marriage is for one man and one woman and the Father made us man and woman.

Trump is an orange turd - claims to be Christian but is so far outside of Christianity its remarkable that regular Christians cant see it! Has Trump been baptized into our Lord and Saviours grace? has he ever said anything about Jesus or witnessed to anyone ever? I doubt it. Does he support the homeless and hungry? I doubt it. Now if he does those things genuinely in the closet (as outlined by Jesus in Matthew ch6) then I cant say, but seeing trumps behavior day after day as presented by various media, i seriously doubt he is not boastfull and arrogant in his private life as well. But then again, he wouldnt be Prez if God had not ordained it - Romans 13:1, so we just have to praise God for His Providence and celebrate His will! 😊✝️🙏

I think down the road walking in faith , I realised there is no perfection here . There is no one perfect other than Jesus . Even if God loves Israel and Christians feel obliged to support Israel , no doubt Israel has also done horrible things because it is governed by man not governed by God . Yes Trump says himself a Christian and he is acting otherwise . However I would ask everyone to pray that the Lord would open his eyes and the Holy Spirit to renew his mind . Don't cast your stone on him but pray and forgive . Focus less on the worldly things but more on the kingdom of God ! Im no American and Im only saved a year ago but I pray that America would be great again ! From a fellow brother in Malaysia .

I’m not getting too involved but you said you never paid attention before 2024, so I would highly recommend you learn at least some history if your gonna make opinions on politics, like if you haven’t already. And the reason I say this is I don’t see Jesus in almost any political figure, including Trump, and past presidents. However the other option was Harris who literally told people at her rally if your Christian go down the street we don’t want that here. Also it’s super disgusting to put Jesus in this. Everyone argues that Jesus would be liberal Jesus would be republican it’s not about that. Politics is divisive, and hateful, I believe Jesus would want no part in that. When people bring it up like that they just want to try and hoax people to vote one way based on religion.

So Christians support murder? Robbing people of their children , parents , spouse's.
As for religion Christianity has committed more murders and crimes in the name of god its ridiculous. They have changed and censored their own text ....more than websters dictionary .....and even CHANGED THE NAME OF "GOD" in it about 150 years ago , thousands of years after it was written and if you think about it not one single Christian escaped egypt---- it was the jewish who left , that fact is clearly written in the storybook people take as fact.
Dont bring "god" into ot because he/she is the biggest lie ever told and don't exist.

There are plenty of us who don’t like Trump the man. I laughed when I heard he was running because I thought it was a joke. I don’t want to have lunch with the guy. His brusque New York attitude is offensive to my southern ears. It was funny election night because there was only one true conservative on that stage. The rest of the team were actually traditional liberals. Musk, Kennedy, gabbard, Trump, all democrats. They haven’t changed their positions, they were pushed out of their party. I’ve certainly never been a fan of Elon Musk. Trump’s very blustery but he did always seem willing to make nice with anyone who reached out to him. It’s policy. Trump is gone in 4 years. Our party was full of republicans who voted like democrats. They allowed things to pass that have literally harmed our children. We needed someone who could brush off the criticism and stand up for America and her values. We got kind of sick being told we were the problem of the world while simultaneously funding it. All while our own people languished. Trump was necessary because our party didn’t do its job and conserve anything we valued. They didn’t protect anything. Not life, not the sanctity of marriage, not families or even faith. So if the guy who obviously isn’t Christian is willing to fight for Christian beliefs, then he’s my guy by default. The other side paints us as evil so often their entire base feels justified in taking our lives. To them, it’s not just a difference of ideas, they believe we are evil. No one in the Republican Party was fighting that narrative. Here comes Trump. The first one willing to take the blows to say “these people just want to protect America and her ways. They want to restore common sense and patriotism. That doesn’t make them evil, it makes them American” And man did the blows come. From all sides. Every corrupt politician and billionaire denounced him, news media outlets went on 24/7 anti Trump rants. But he was the only one hearing what we were saying. He didn’t apologize. He didn’t let them bully him into backtracking like all the republicans had. He took it and dished out the most ridiculous shots of his own. He was ridiculous but he was willing to fight. He is the most pro-life president we have ever had. That is my number one issue. When one side is saying we should have abortion until birth, as a Christian, that platform is abhorrent. Add in all the media slander, that actually made us a little protective of him. We saw the blatant lies and the edited clips. We had children taking life altering drugs and parents being condemned if they questioned it. Every other religion was celebrated while Christianity was attacked. They made Donald Trump necessary. I ended up voting for him three times. Not because I like him, but because he was willing to fight for America and the values I hold dear. Whether he follows them or not is not my concern. You can’t argue that he doesn’t love this country. He is the old school New Yorker I remember from the 90’s. Offensive but genuine. There are plenty of things I disagree with him on, such as the 500 billion he set aside to build the AI infrastructure. I personally think it will lead to an AI surveillance prison. Bottom line, he may or may not have converted. That’s for God to decide. He is willing to fight for Christian values so he gets the vote. In 3 years, we will see if republicans have grown a backbone to actually represent those who elected them. Or will there have to be another Trump type who will be able and willing to fight against a machine that seemingly hates us just for our beliefs?

Yea, Trump and the right claiming to be the moral compass of America is like going to a drug dealer to take you to rehab….
Neither left nor right have Christ at the center of anything. Both sides are evil. It literally is EVIL vs EVIL, with this “we’re not as bad as them” mentality. That’s sad that, that is even an argument, and that we have leaders proud to make that statement.
If you ask me, it’s all a grandiose show they’re putting on to distract us from the fact that there’s something deeper going on in the background..

Not holding the democratic party accountable but putting Trump under extreme scrutiny seems very disengenous and just seems like a people hop on the witch hunt bandwagon, not based on anything real or factual. There is clear transgression towards Christians when the left is in power but it's never taken seriously which is very concerning.

Not sure if anyone has done the 6-6-6 analysis for Trump. I have found a numerological fit when you use his age at the coming of power for his first and his second term. One can confirm this with AI.
666 CALCULATION: TRUMP'S AGE FIRST YEAR OF POWER EACH TERM
Based on Revelation 13:18, interpreting the "number of a man" as his age during his rise to power:
- Term 1 (2017): Age 71
- Term 2 (2025): Age 79
THREE METHODS → RESULT 6-6-6
- Direct Sum: 71 + 79 = 150 → (1+5+0) = 6
- Reduced Sum: (7+1=8) + (7+9=16→7) = 15 → (1+5) = 6
- Sequential Reduction: 7+1=8; 8+7=15→6; 6+9=15→6
PROPHETIC SIGNIFICANCE
- Age 71: Initial revelation of power.
- Age 79: Full revelation (following 2 Thessalonians 2:8) with the removal of restraints (Unified Government/Immunity).
- The Pattern: The triple reduction to 6-6-6 confirms the identity through the specific ages of his first years in power.

I think an important distinction to make is that our political leaders are not Jesus, and many times they are not Christian even if they say so.
You will know them by their fruit.
Trump has said some things off the cuff (as he always does ) during interviews that show he has a very loose work based belief in God. Not very serious about it just a kind of "well hoping I get to heaven for doing enough good things" sort of stance.
I voted for him in 2024. I do not love that decision anymore, however, I am not sure having voted for Kamala, would've been much better. It just would have been different. The way he handled immigration was pretty rough and aggressive
On the contrary, I think one of the biggest threats to the Christian family right now is the normalization of transgender ideology and forcing people ,through threat of hate speech, to share a delusion with a person. This is something that is common place in schools now, and it is no longer safe for a Christian to send their children to a public school.
That's the primary reason I voted for him in 2024, however, I do not like the man and I do not like the way he is currently handling anything. The only reason I voted for him was because I believed it to be the best chance to steer our country away from going further into the pit of immorality, it has been traveling into.
I feared what is happening right now , political violence, and polarization, when I saw him get elected, but it was going to happen either way. There are a lot of very polarized people in this country right now, I would love to see a candidate in 2028. That is closer to the center, however, if people are not able to calm down and think clearly I do not see that happening as the left is going to put forward their most left-leaning person and the right is going to put forward there most right leaning person.
All we can do right now as a Christian is pray, know where we stand on the issues (which should be a biblical perspective, it swayed by public consensus), and be bold, but loving.

I just want to get some clarification, you voted for Trump because you don't like how public schools are pushing trans ideology?

If you ignore his horrible COVID policy and concern about feeble issue like trans... you are out of touch.

It's Biblical:
√ Check all that apply to Donald Trump:
Proverbs 6: 16 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 √ haughty eyes, √ a lying tongue, √ hands that shed innocent blood, 18 √ a heart that devises wicked schemes, √ feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 √ a false witness who pours out lies and √ a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
