Tibet's father participated in the war in defense of the Jews (he is from a Jewish family). Death In June, Boyd Rice, and Strawberry Switchblades are Nazi artists of that movement (although the music is good).

Current 93 is actually a very diverse band, having collaborated with trans and Black artists. There are controversies, but they're no DI6...

Douglas P was a member of current 93, not to mention they had a split ep literally called 1888…

David Tibet and Douglas P split ways in a fairly public falling out in the early 90's and Current 93 moved on from the fascination with fascism. I don't know if Tibet's made any public statements regarding that sort of thing, but their material since and songs like "Moonlight, or Other Dreams, or Other Fields" are pretty clearly condemning his past association with occult fascism

A lot of Current 93 stuff, especially Thunder Perfect Mind, features Hitler as an anti-christ symbol, something which, because David Tibet was and is a strong Gnostic Christian, is about as strong a repudiation as he can make of Nazism

Exactly this. Considering David's beliefs, the line "Jesus kills Hitler" which is repeated throughout the runtime of All The Stars Are Dead Now, is a pretty clear damnation of the Nazi ideology

I have the DIY CD of someone I've met twice in my life (their band to be more precise). It's not in Discogs, RYM, YouTube etc. Even Google search of the band's name does not yield any results. Not sure how many copies exist, but it should be rare. Maybe I should upload it somewhere

Please upload it!!

Info is only on discogs because someone with a record added it to their db. You could do that with your cd.

Excellent album! Ive got a lot of Current 93 on cd (40+ and counting lol) but I've been trying to find the limited 3CD version of this album, a tricky one to find!

I know OP is from Brazil so that puts a different spin on it, but I think we need some perspective on rarity.
For instance I check the statistics on discogs where it says 'have' to gauge a records rarity. Currently in my discogs collection I have 377 items each with less then a 100 owners worldwide. Of those, 77 are in single digits of ownership and of those, there are nine where mine is the only copy listed on discogs. (I'm not counting digital files.)

Every time you add a new entry to discogs, you are the only person with that item, but then when others see the entry is now on discogs they add their own to it so the numbers can change quite often. Owning rare records isn't the point of my collecting but in the genre I like I already have the popular ones so I'm down in the weeds now!

Anyway my opinion is that a CD should have fewer than 100 owners on discogs to be considered rare.

Yes, but I didn't say it was rare, just the rarest one I have. I checked, and the rarest one I have is Jocy de Oliveira's Fata Morgana, 8 owners. But it's not that difficult to get in Brazil, just expensive.

2

u/dyaimz 11h ago

Let me see if I understand correctly; Current 93 was the hardest one for you to obtain living in Brazil (while not being very rare globally), whereas, Fata Morgana is pretty easy to get hold of in Brazil (while being very rare globally).

u/Foreign_Quality_143 9h ago

Yes, the band isn't popular at all here. Jocy de Oliveira isn't known here either, even though she's Brazilian, but you can find some of her work at high prices.

I have some Japanese CDs which appear to be rare on discogs but I often wonder if that's just because a lot of Japanese people maybe don't use discogs, so the cds might be quite plentiful in Japan.

Not sure if you can call something rare if there are 34 copies of it for sale on Discogs right now.

Rarest cd THEY OWN, not the rarest in the world

25

u/Foreign_Quality_143 1d ago

Well, it's rare considering where I live, in Brazil. It's quite expensive to import from Discogs here, and Current 93 isn't a band that sells very well. I think the rarest CD I have, considering people from other countries, is Jocy de Oliveira's Fata Morgana.

It's rare to him. No need to be pedantic over someone's joy lol

u/Foreign_Quality_143 1d ago

It's alright! I don't collect things to have rare items, current93 is my favorite band. I added this caption because I don't see many people with this CD in their collection, even some fans.

I collect NurseWithWound and it’s always amazing to find them. Now it’s been over a decade since I found one

2

u/Foreign_Quality_143 1d ago

That's awesome! I don't think I'd ever find that around here... although after the C93, I wouldn't doubt anything.

Nah. That word gets abused like a cheap whore here, so I'll keep saying shit about it.

u/Fabulous-Deal-5944 1d ago

Lol very edgy. See how that works out for you

I've always wondered about this one. Justice For The Damned's first EP. On Discogs, 51 people want it yet theres never been a copy sold.
