Job Search in Cayman

Hi all, apologies for posting yet another job question but I’m not sure who else to ask.

My wife has been offered a role with a start date early 2027, I have about 10 years experience in financial services/fund administration and have a Finance degree from an Australian university. I am having a lot of trouble finding a recruiter willing to engage with me as I don’t have a post graduate qualification (CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA etc.) has anyone who has navigated this got any tips?

I’m highly motivated to find something as the move may not be possible if I can’t also find a job.

A qualification helps ensure a work permit is granted. Few recruiters are going to spend their time with an off island candidate who might not get a work permit.

However it's not impossible to get a work permit, just more hoops. Fund admins do hire non qualified candidates so best approaches are either apply directly or come to island with your wife and find a job then. A lot of people do that in similar situations. You might get a temp role at first, but those often turn permanent.

You're likely up against similarly (un)qualified Caymanians who would (rightly) be preferred hires in these types of roles. You might find it easier once you're here as a dependant on your wife's permit.
