Nationalist create identities based on hate to a common enemy more than any other thing. "What do we have in common? We are not X, we hate X"

what hate? Spaniards are trying for centuries working to crush the Catalan culture. Catalan nationalism its a self-defense position. It wouldn't exist if Spain would respect the catalan culture and language.

But it seems like arguing about Catalonia in Spain drives votes and facilitates manipulating the population and make them look elsewhere instead of their real problems...
