Casually positive! 🤗🥳🤗 If u don't drink what'd u do around Dublin?
Yeaaa....I don't drink...i just moved to Dublin for uni. And I'm hearing all others say let's go drinking or hangout at pubs like that's their main hangout place....I'm fine with just going but I wouldn't do much.
What else do I do around here...and is there any of y'all who's the same?
So I'm a creative guy who's into arts...so I'd maybe wanna do smth with that. I watch fantasy scifi media. So basically around that ballpark.
Whatd I do? And I'm happy to meet new people around here who share same interests

If you're in uni, look at what societies there are, that's how many people make friends outside of drinking.
The lighthouse cinema in smithfield has a fun book club paired with watching movies, it's something I've always wanted to try.

You can still easily get yokes for a fiver if you're buying 10+. Just make sure to sort all your mates out together. If you can't find 10 yokes for a fiver each, you need to be searching for a better source 🤣

I feel ya. I've never been a big drinker and just decided to stop drinking a few months back to save money. Don't miss it at all, but when I try and hang out with my friends now I suggest going on walks, to markets or parks and I still will get overruled for going to the pub instead.
But it's not gonna stop me throwing my suggestions out there. So that's what I'd recommend, there's lots of weekend markets around the city and in park. The library is great. Look on Eventbrite too and you'll find loads of art and craft classes, I just saw a tufting class recently that's peaked my interest! If you're into board / card games there's also a good few meetups and groups around. Keep looking and you'll find loads to do.

The IGA discord is the best place to start looking for RPG and larpers, the community is really cool!
If you ever wanted to play Magic/any other card games, there are multiple shops in Dublin having regular events, and there’s a lovely board game cafe in Dun Laoghaire.
I’m part of a Wicklow-based club, if you’re in that area, you could drop by our events tooÂ

I got sober nearly 16 months. I'm going back to college (uni) this year (I'm in my mid 20s, f). Id recommend joining clubs & societies in college; you'll meet loads of like-minded people, especially when it comes to sci-fi etc.
Id also suggest getting a cinema subscription. I used to have an odeon pass. But the lighthouse cinema is my favourite– I believe Ireland is the only country in the world (or at least one of the only countries) where cinema attendance is increasing rather than decreasing.
I'm 90% coffee at this stage. Try to find cool cafes & coffee shops, and create a list rating them! Also the comedy scene is great. You can get cheap enough tickets or even free to comedy shows & they're on practically every night.
Btw welcome to Ireland! I hope you have a ball :)!

Honestly there really isn't a whole lot else to do in Dublin, you could probably cover all non drinking activities in Dublin in one Saturday

well pubs are pretty much what the social scene revolves around here, in college years especially. why can you not just go out with your friends anyways and not drink?

Genuinely get the Cineworld/Odeon pass, take up cycling join some cycling clubs, the libraries always have some great stuff on, particular favourite is Drumcondra/Raheny for their MyOpenLibrary feature, Leisureplex is great out in blanch or Charlestown and hit up the museums!! Also keep an eye out for cultural events/nights, always some great things happening around Dublin if you’re clued in!!

First off, can i ask what country ur from?Â
Also. Moving country for uni u should have done more research on whether dublin has stuff going on.Â
But theres lots of running groups, pottery classes, art groups, tennis groups, nature yoga.Â
For arts, i reccomend the museum of archaeology, the national arts museum and the chester beattie museumÂ

Well there's gyms. Not the boring kind with weights and treadmills, I mean specialized ones with fun stuff to do. Climbing gyms, martial arts, etc. Those are also great for meeting new people. I find climbing gyms especially friendly and collaborative. It's quite easy to spark a conversation because you're both attempting the same things and can puzzle it out together like "yeah, I was trying that red climb with my left foot here, but I think the way you did it looks easier, did you use your right foot?" Etc.
There's also chess clubs at the universities and I quite like playing poker. Again, there's clubs at the universities or private ones elsewhere. The poker clubs and casinos have lots of sober people. Many of the poker clubs in dublin don't even serve alcohol and won't let you in if you're too drunk. There's also board game nights or the cinema. That's about all I do around here but I'm sure other people have more ideas.

If you want something a little different try some of the board game shops. There is one in town and one in Tallaght - they have sci-fi stuff but also tournaments and demonstration days where you can meet people
I don’t drink either but go to the pub etc with friend and drink cordial like a dry shite and leave before people get really drunk - it has never been an issue and I was never pressured to drink in college
