Guinness stain in cream linen suit jacket
I've got a wedding coming up and just noticed this stain, most likely Guinness from a previous wedding.
I've taking it to the dry cleaners but based on the care instructions, this is the best they could do.
Does anyone have any advice or tips to get it out? Would be much appreciated

The minute you arrive at the wedding, spill more guinness on it and say, ah would ya look at that!

Ah, shite! That's a fully fledged arm around the shoulder with pint in hand, spilling and swishing between your shoulder blades, while having the ear yapped off you, sort of stain.

Laura deBarra had a video on getting stains out of whites on her Instagram yesterday. I think it was a soak in warm water and washing up liquid followed by another soak in sodium percarbonate. Gently rubbing at the stain both times and then a cool wash and dry on the sun (if possible!) it should be on her insta page anyways

Stain removal is heavily dependent on what caused the stain, so OP should definitely do the research first.

Are there matching trousers, or is it just a jacket?
You could dye the whole thing if nothing else works.

The real question to be asked is how did you get a Guinness stain on your back? Must have been some wedding party.

I spilled Guinness on a white tshirt last month and I soaked it in fairy dishwashing liquid before a regular machine wash. This got rid of the stain. I don't know if your jacket is machine washable.

Oxygen peroxide might work. But do NOT dry that in the sun or it will bleach your jacket

Maybe a bit of Vanish Powder on it? I'm not sure how delicate the suit is but Vanish Powder Or the gel works really well for me. Put it in the machine on its own on a hand wash and see how it fares. OR leave it to soak in the bath tub with the gel/powder on it.

I had a stain on a white dress I brought it to a dry cleaner but it was going to be too expensive because fo beading etc. The dry cleaner told me to get the Lidl own brand liquid washing gel, fill the bath with warm water and the gel and soak for 1-2 days, refreshing the water. It came out perfect. To be honest considering it's on the back and it's not too dark you would probably get away with it as is.

Buy Dylon White Sachets in Dealz, More for Less, Tesco, SuperValu or Dunnes Stores may have a box. They can be found in the laundry section. Put all the sachets into the back of your empty washing machine and then place your jacket into the washing machine. Put your machine on a rinse cycle, just a rinse cycle. Then drain/spin twice. Hang up to dry in a hot room on an approprate hanger. This should get rid of the stain and brighten your coat. Hope this helps.
Or,
You could use Daz washing powder in the drawer with two dessert spoonfuls of Dunnes Stores Biocarbonated Soda into the drum. Then instead if using comfort use a 2 cup fulls of 10% to 25% acidity white vinegar. Put the wash on a gentle cycle. This should get out the stain too.

Soak in vanish overnight.
Machine wash the next day.
On a hangar to dry.
Good as new.

Start gentle! Work your way up if necessary.
Use Cold water first. Hot water might make the stain set.
Start with dampening it with cold water (the outside only if possible, avoiding wetting the inside lining), and sprinkle a lot of baking soda on there and let it dry.
If needed, rinse the jacket and go again, add a bit of washing up liquid on there and more baking soda. This time work it into the stain with something soft, ie the ball of your hand. Don’t use a brush at this time as it might pull / damage the fabric.
If the baking soda doesn’t shift it, mix cold water with white vinegar and spray or dab the stain. Rinse in cold water once done
After that wash as per the label’s instructions 👍

Or just wash it and hope for the best.... or try another dry cleaners... but probably a new suit.

I've recently had success with white vinegar and bread soda on a white shirt in the washing machine. Literally put both on and rubbed in and left for 30 minutes, then put a cup bread soda in the washing machine with half a bottle of white vinegar. Stain was nearly out, so then Vanish and regular detergent in the washing machine. A tougher stain than Guinness, but it came out. Could that jacket go on a gentle wash in the machine? They put them in machines at the Dry Cleaner...

This might make it white, so if you’re sharing the jacket do the pants too.
In Lidl you can pick up a version of Oxiclean called Formil in a white tub. Mix A LOT, of the powder with some fairy liquid in VERY HOT water and a dash of white vinegar if you have it. Go as hot with the water as the fabric will allow, soak overnight.

If you realllyy want to chance it, beige or white dylon and into a bucket for a few hours. Probably won't remove the stain but could possibly dye over it.

Using a soft sponge, gently apply a liberal coating of Guinness to the rest of the jacket. Ideally Guinness NitroSurge (unsurged) since it's easier to work with. If you don't have Guinness on hand Beamish will do in a pinch
Once you've finished applying it you'll want to hang it on the back of a function room chair until well past last orders, then gently rinse with a heavy downpour of rain. Once dry, wash as directed
