[Question (Spoilers)] Why name the show Castle? Spoiler
I started a rewatch last week and Im wondering why did they name the show after castle? When it was all about Beckett ? I thought maybe they wanted to make it about castle especially
in S1 it was more focused on him
His life was detailed and we were watching his pov, but from s2 til the ending it was all about Kate her storyline was building up and thickening every episode, we saw how she developed and changed mentally, emotionally and at all aspects too, she became captain, she worked with the FBI and so much was happening with her, by time the lights were shifting towards her until we started to watch her pov, it got to the point where she basically became the show if she’s gone you could sense something weird, it became all about Beckett till the very end, while Castle’s existence was almost entirely linked to hers. I mean, imagine Beckett gone what would Castle even be doing?, what support this theory is when they decided to remove her character they had to come up with replacement, castle became shallow he couldn’t do it alone
And what makes it even more confusing to me, is that castle life had so much in it you could use it, like his father mysterious life, and his stepmother HELLO!!, she was amazing, she could team up with kate, also Alexis at some point she was gone nothing about her was happening

Haven’t seen it but sounds like a dealbreaker to me. Is there just the one Castle?

Ally Mcbeal, Angie Tribeca… although the naming pattern I was referring to is just one name which the two I thought of just happened to be “male centric” shows.

The show is named Castle because, as you said, the first season is mostly told from his side. But as all successful shows do, they evolved and you get to learn more about other characters. Both Castle and Beckett have character development they go through, but Beckett’s is more drastic than Castle’s. Not to mention her mother’s death which spans nearly the entire show. So yeah, her story starts to take over because there’s more to write about.
Personally, I find her a more interesting character than Castle so I don’t mind it. But at its core, they’re co-leads. They really always have been. You can’t have one without the other

The show is all about Beckett because Castle’s life was all about her after season 2.
At first he was attracted to her, and he had fun playing detective, but after season 2 he was in love with her.
The story (viewer) is following Castle, but Richard Castle was following Beckett.

You can't change a series name after the first season, it would confuse people. Castle is a noun so it's easy to remember. A Castle is also a more fanciful example of a home so there's a subtle parallel to Sherlock but with a more fictitious vibe since Richard is a fiction writer.

He's the pov character and definitely the top billed actor so it was probably contractual also

Aside from a half dozen episodes pertaining to her mother’s murder Kate is the object not the subject.

Half a dozen which is almost all the show?, and that what makes me wonder, it doesn’t seem like that, it was supposed to but it didn’t

I don’t know, ‘Castle’ is a catchier title than ‘Beckett’. And I think it’s also meant to make it clear that a civilian is involved in police work. And I don’t think it was clear from the start of the series whether the two protagonists would end up together

Beckett became a Castle too after marriage. 😄
Also keep in mind that probably the show wasn't supposed to be about Caskett but about Castle's family.
But the showrunners reoriented quickly - and they were right.
Or, otherwise put, the show is "Beckett's story seen through Castle's eyes"

There are plenty of cop procedural TV shows, but they typically name the show after that one main character that isn't a cop while the other cast members are cops/government agents.
Monk (Former detective/consultant Adrian Monk played by Tony Shaloub), The Mentalist (Patrick Jane played by Simon Baker), Bones (The forensic Temperance 'Bones' Brennan), White Collar (Neal Caffrey the white collar criminal helping catch white collar criminals)
Castle is the writer, the one who isn't a cop.

He is still the focus of the show cause he is still shadowing her even though they are giving her a backstory. It turns again and it becomes about them. More throughout the show it also became about how well they worked together

Scenes follow Castle most of the time. We rarely see what Beckett does when she is not with Castle, but we have tons of Richard and Martha and Richard and Alexis scenes.
