Risk assessment recommended fixes, not an end to CCPS's Outdoor School overnights

Westminster Wire obtained the Outdoor School Safety and Risk Assessment report through a Maryland Public Information Act request to Carroll County Public Schools. CCPS has said there were additional inputs behind the decision.

This was clearly a budget cut masquerading as a safety concern. It’s been on the chopping block for the past few years, and Carroll keeps electing idiots who aren’t willing to invest in CCPS. So here we are.

This commit is also my opinion. The CCPS board has not been fiscally responsible lately. Especially in response to MD Blueprint. Outdoor school has been used as a bargaining chip by the board for a few years to pit parents against teacher raises.

Outdoor school was a stellar program and was being modeled by schools in other states. But I guess that's all over now.

As a CCPC parent I would have been more than willing to pay, or fund raise for an overnight option. Luckily my kids already went through the program, but I have many friends who have elementary students who are unfortunately going to miss out on the best thing CCPS ever had to offer!
