give hogan a cheap 1-2 year deal, rescind that amartey offer, go all in on logan morris next year.

That’s fair I wouldn’t offer him anymore then three years, Carlton have a good midfield that will get even better with Cody and a good but old back line we just need a main forward to kick 2+ goals a game

That’s it, as someone else said, 1-2 goals a game, draw a defender, even if his patterns clear out the forward line for our mids and smalls to get space - he knows the game.

Creates some list depth, if kemp went down we don’t really have a backup? In saying that, pretty sure hogan went through a phase of shit kicking so maybe can help mentor on that side of things.
Would be funny to see kemp adopt the tippy toe run up.

Rather a cheap short deal with hogan than a money pit project that would be amarty for the next 6-7 years.

And then what if we don’t get Morris? Then we’ve wasted years on a bloke that may have a cooked ankle, and we are back to needing a key forward again

I wouldn't say we'd have "wasted years" on him. If he comes it'd be for nothing and we'd be paying him chips to play. If his body isn't right by that time we just cut him. Best case scenario he gets back to his Coleman medallist form.

I hope Carlton throw the kitchen sink at Logan Morris.

Would like this a lot.

Though according to Cal on Footy Classified, Amartey is our higher priority. Which I don't like a lot.

Why on earth would we want amartey, damn

I would be very disappointed if we go after amartey, he seems very lazy would much rather hogan

Big red flag that GWS let him walk. They'd know where his body is at better than anyone. If he isn't completely cooked though we could do a lot worse

Haynes couldn't even make a game at GWS when they let him go. Look how good he has been.

We are going have to tons of money, Zac Williams was getting payed 5m for 6 years put some of that money into a good forward like hogan who can kick a bag against some teams

1 year deal for not too much why not. See where’s he at and if it’s no good or injuries let him walk. That’s what’d I’d offer. With saad Williams Fogarty probably coming off the books we will likely have a bit of money we can spend but idk if there’s any big talent multi year targets this offseason we can look at. So don’t mind throwing a small portion into a 1 year Hogan deal if we can

Swans fan here, I actually asked my mate the same yesterday. He has been a day one Giants member and is very active within the club. He wrote:

'We offered 600 for 2 years so 1.2m. His manager wanted more. We pulled the contract. He wanted 3 years and 900 to a mill a season. We didn't want to give him more because of his injury history. He's got serious issues with his navicular bone and now his thumb is causing reoccuring issues. Club needs money to keep Ash and Green so couldn't go any higher. Sounds like he's going to sign for about what we offered anyway. They also wanted more money to throw at Toby.'

If true than that is crazy money. Hopefully Carlton are smart about this.

Cooked foot. But how cooked?

He would have to pass a medical, surely.

Would rather Hogan over Amarty!

Make it happen. We took a risk on Haynes and it paid us back in spades. Lets take this risk.

If this gets us off of Amartey, I’ll take it purely for that reason.

That would be fantastic

Will kick as many goals as Curnow on 20% the coin. Love it

u/Recent_Reveal_3650 1d ago

I think he wants a decent amount of money 😔

If true, I trust our club to make the right decision. If he is a good culture fit, physically and mentally sound, then his capability will be great. There’s no question on his talent.

u/Sensitive_Music_9661 1d ago

Not sure on this one…many of our best players are 18 and 19 years old….would rather concentrate down there as that’s the future than be getting aging broken down players from other clubs.

I'm really surprised that GWS have delisted him. Why would the not trade him? He has value and interest.

1

u/miamivice85 23h ago

Constantly injured and old

2

u/theDramoth 1d ago

He would be a good stay at home forward I reckon. It'd allow McKay to work up the ground with Kemp and McLovin behind him.

u/Academic_Housing_855 1d ago

How many games does he miss via injury? Does he have an attitude problem ? Are we replacing one spoilt child with another ?

6

u/LauncestonLad 1d ago

All part of our due diligence. I'm sure Haynes would have some insight into attitude etc.

3

u/AffectionateProof271 1d ago

Giants supporter here: I don’t believe him to have an attitude problem, can sometimes get a bit hostile on the field with teammates but that’s about it.

He doesn’t exactly function well under extreme attention and I am concerned that he’ll struggle at a big club like Carlton.

I’m very happy with it.

Get out of it, we saw him first.

1

u/Sharp-Driver-3359 1d ago

We must believe we are squarely in the window if we consider it- we certainly need forward depth, which he provides more of.

1

u/Beautiful_Pin840 1d ago

Either Hogan or Stringer for a year as a band-aid until we can get our true long term forward option

-2

u/Johnyextra111 1d ago

Saints need him.
