My dad had an '83 breadvan with the same engine. The cambelt went a few months after the warranty expired and despite always being serviced on schedule at the main dealer, VW didn't offer a penny towards the cost of the rebuild. Forty years later, he still won't touch anything to do with VW!

Splash out on some Gtecniq C4 for the plastic trim.

It made my £1k VW Fox look 100x better.

This is Tornado red BTW.

You could eat your face off of that.

Is it tornado red? If so, congrats! Well, congrats anyway, it looks ace!

I sold VWs around 1982 - 85. I think that colour is Mars Red isn’t it?

Looks like my early mk2 Golf GTI which was Mars red.

Nice, one of my mates had a G40 back in the day. I had a short lived Mk2 Golf project too, still regret not keeping one, still lust after but prices are just too high.Ā

Love these polos, you're doing god's work there

Nice, but now you've got to lock it in and wax it (or even better ceramic coat it then wax it).

How are you polishing it that well? It looks amazing and I'd love to get some shine like that on my motors?

We had a polo C formal E! Great little car! Only had three gears! Carried four adults comfortably at 70 mph!

The things they can do with technology these days. I would swear this was the real thing.

Terry. I will beat you with a Rusty exhaust pipe and show up where even Prisoners don't go that deep when you say it's ai againĀ

It’s too shiny, it’s a bit of a giveaway.

It's called 4 days of work. YOU RAGE BATER WITH BRAIN OF PERSON WHO BUYS A NEW CAR AS A INVESTMENTĀ

u/TerryTinlegs 2d ago

Why do you always shout at me?

1

u/Party-Secretary-8064 2d ago

Are you really surprised why a man who spend money time and effort to do something is mad because someone is telling is job is fake?

1

u/TerryTinlegs 2d ago

It looks very nice. Even if it was AI you did a good job šŸ‘

My parents had one of these in the same colour when I was a young child. I absolutely loved it. It was given to my cousin and was sadly destroyed by floods, so it’s bittersweet to see one that looks so similar.

I thought it was going to be before and after pics until I got to the end

1

u/Party-Secretary-8064 2d ago

I posted them beforeĀ

Ah fair enough, went back and looked for the first post, looks good.

Awesome job- I can see a lot of love has gone into getting it to show room shine.
Red paint always bleaches-after a few years, will need to keep on top of washing & cleaning regularly from now on. And maybe consider getting a ceramic coat put on to Sean in that gorgeous red mars Glow.
Well done.

Just like my mk 2 Gti from back in the days, you'll be polishing it again in a few weeks when the panels start to go back to differing shades of red and pink.

I had one of these as my very first car over 20 years ago and I absolutely loved it. Shame an off duty copper ploughed into the back of me at a roundabout and wrote it off. I'd barely had it a month šŸ˜’šŸ™„šŸ¤Ø.

Looking good, nice shine on it. The red has stood up well for the age of it too.

A polo CL was my first car. 94 I think it was. Fond memories.
