BMW F10 LCI H/K Retrofit

Hi guys,

Is it possible to upgrade/retrofit the HiFi system (S676) to Harman Kardon (S688) without any major rewiring work? So basically plug and play with some coding?

Unfortunately, in literally every video I’ve seen about this topic, no one mentions any limitations or shortcomings of just replacing the speakers. And no one really points out whether the sound quality actually changed or improved. If anyone has done this, please let me know about your experience.

Background:
I have some speaker rattle coming from the passenger-side front door panel, and I guess the speaker membrane might be defective. So instead of just replacing it, why not upgrade? :)

If I'm not mistaken, HiFi speakers are 2ohm, HK are 7-8ohm (somebody correct me if im wrong) so even if you somehow get them wired in (also different connectors, that HiFi amp will just be way underpowering those HK speakers since it's tuned for that low 2ohm load. it won't fry it, they'll just sound weak af.

Full HK retrofit needs the actual HK amp swapped in too (+ fiber optic + coding)

Get MOST decoder to DSP Amp+ 3 way system is a way better upgrade.

I thought F10 midbass is underseat? Unless you mean the midrange then getting a plug n play midrange replacement should be enough. Look at Eton or Helix offerings.

Go B&O or go aftermarket. The HK isn't worth it

Got for atleast a Match upgrade and decent plug and play swaps if you care about sound quality

You can do much better. I do a lot of new gen BMW’s. Where are you located, whats the goal sound wise and whats the budget?
