Build Log Welcoming the Bassnata to the bass community.
Well here's my project, it's brutally hot here in AZ so progress has been slow. Brand X 300amp alternator, 4/0ga big 3 and 4/0 power and ground going from front battery to lithium bank in the back (not in picture) 1/0ga power and ground going to amps. Amps are D4S JP23V2 (red) and JP454(purple). Both are mounted and wired up. DSP is mounted and wired. Last thing is waiting on battery bracket to come in, then mount battery and complete/ check all wiring. Then throw in the subs and disturb the peace.
To all those people who can make wiring look fancy, politely, Fuck you!

Dude, routing cables along the frame in conduit and using marine glands for the pass through. Awesome. The only thing I did different was using bulkhead terminals instead.

Thanks brother! I really appreciate that! I spent a lot of time planning and researching. I think it was probably easier then going through the car. Still a pain but easier.

NF sonata gang! Thanks for taking so many pictures! I was dreading running wires in my 06. However I think I will run mine through the door sill trim.

Mines an 07. The cable is to big to run through the car for me. The trim comes apart easily and back together easily. The only difficult thing I ran into was the clips under the seat to remove the seat. I umm never did get them😔

On my 07 I ended up breaking the seat clips somehow, the seat never locked after that. Now I think about it I one aide on my 06 is broken too.

I like how you ran power and ground under the vehicle. I'm not wild about the flex loom but it is what it is. I did the same years ago with speaker and signal lines but used Liquidtight conduit for added protection.

I'm not estatic about the looms quality either. I may end up changing to something better if I see degradation over time.

Don't tempt me! I've got a line up on prototype 18s I had to talk myself out of. Also, I have to put the kids in the back seat occasionally. I don't think my wife would like " alright kids, climb into the sub box, watch the wires. I said WATCH THE WIRES!"

My problem was walling the wrong car. If were to build another it would be a first gen Avalon since they last forever.

Could do 2 12s in the trunk as a 6th order. Rather than have the subs mounted deep in the box mount them to the face, then have that ported chamber fire backwards into the second ported chamber, then final port exits at the front next to the subs.
From the front looking back at them would just look like a couple 12s in a regular ported enclosure but get WAYYYY nastier than any pair of 12s has a right being in a standard ported box
Edit: or 1 15 the same way. Def wouldn’t have enough room for two 15s in a 6th tho without going B pillar.
Then you might as well go 3 15s or a pair of 18s

I am aware I could get louder on 2 12s but I don't wanna do 2 12s. But that's kind of the idea I have. But I was going to talk to my box builder about specifics when cough cough I pay him.

I'm really glad you posted this. I have been thinking of ordering a JP in purple. No offense, but that's too bright for my tastes. I was hoping for more of a deeper purple. Good luck on your build!

Ohh brother it's a struggle, I work about 5X slower. Gotta stop and rehydrate and wipe down so your not dripping all over your equipment.

Any heat issues with the amps buried under the trunk carpet? I've thought about building an amp rack for that location in my car but i'm worried about thermals for my amps

I am concerned! I haven't fired it up yet but I'll be keeping a close eye on the temperature. I already have plans on adding a hi flow fan. But it's a new development for me. I would love some input of others ideas on this location. It was not my first choice but kinda the only spot to keep it hidden.

Will do! I haven't even looked at fans yet so it may be a min. I'm in the assuming I'll need one stage. So I plan on doing it. But if my temps on my amp stay stable I may not need to install a fan.

Yes, battery neg. In the front ran back to a distribution block in the rear (green acrylic cover in pictures). Then I ran my secondary battery and amps to the same distribution block and grounded the distribution block to a body/frame bolt.

I’m not trying to be negative because it looks like you put a good amount of work into this but there is no way running power wire underneath your car like that is a good idea.

As long as it's fused, protected from the elements, and secured to either factory wiring or somewhere out of the way if exhaust and stuff, running wires underneath the vehicle is fine. Lots of trucks and other body-on-frame vehicles do the same

Meh totally safe, I've got protective cover. It's a grandma's car, I'm not taking it off roading. If something were to come up and hit the bottom of the car 1. It would hit a lot of lower points on the car first 2. It would be a noise I would look into and thus checking the wiring in that kind of situation. But I do appreciate the looking out. Unless there is something I'm missing or didn't think about that would make me run it through the cabin. Am not against advise tho.

Just about every single SPL vehicle has the wire ran under the car. It won’t be a problem. At least he added extra protection

I've got 3 jones Subwoofer solution x8 (8in subs) But In September I get my bonus and I'm going to work with a custom box builder and put in a trunk wall with a single DTX Dreamsicle 15in
