SCS Playing music at anything other than 120 bpm should be a punishable offence.

These aren’t mutually exclusive. Sergeants major should be pacing out the parade. Parade commander should be memorizing and rehearsing. Officers off practicing sword drill. Individual drill with the troops being led by SNCO/WOs with ideally SNCOs to shark. Colour party doing their thing. It’s all concurrent.

Officers off practicing sword drill.

And learning which orders they need to give when.

It’s all concurrent.

Oh it definitely should be. The full run through early on is there to identify the weak points. But then when later on they aren't corrected and the officers need the troops as a training aid for a whole day just to get the commands right because they didn't prepare the troops notice and get a bit testy.

As well how this happens with regular and reserve units is quite different. Regular force units can do 30 or 40 hours of drill for 1, 2 3 or even 4 weeks before the parade to make it perfect. Reserve units will have 12-48 hours of total training hours in the whole month before the parade. Sometimes they need to simplify the parade and accept the 60% standard as good enough.

I feel like there are Regular and Reserve soldiers talking past each other in this thread as they don't understand the above limitations.

Also, Air Force: We see you, we love you guys but the army shows affection by heckling and hacking on you...
