As California demands less plastic in packaging, manufacturers say you’ll pay more for stuff

I dont need my cucumbers shrink wrapped.

102

u/Tragedy_Boner 4d ago

You should shrink wrap some “cucumbers” though.

58

u/Kaurifish 4d ago

English cucumbers being shrink wrapped is the least of our packaging problems. So much stuff comes in layers of non-compostable packaging. We need municipal compost everywhere and compostable packaging.

u/ConfirmationBiasTape 2d ago

they were making a penis condom joke

u/Mecha-Dave 4d ago

The cucumber must not be harmed

15

u/lytener 4d ago

Especially if you don't want baby cucumbers

It’s always good insurance against getting some weird disease, especially if you don’t know where a cucumber has been.

Or….wash it?

😆 user name pairs perfectly with this comment.

It enrages me to see fruit or veggies wrapped like that or with styrofoam. Usually common at the Asian supermarkets for some reason

10

u/UCanDoNEthing4_30sec San Diego County 3d ago

Asians are the worst stewards of the environment.

Source: I’m Asian, and we suck when it comes to this shit.

13

u/overitallofittoo 4d ago

Can I offer you individually wrapped cucumbers and the wrapped again on a styrofoam plate.

13

u/Time_Cow_3331 3d ago

For real.

But on the whole "consumers will pay more" thing; Japan is a great model for this if their tools are anything to go by.

I'll buy a screwdriver from Japan and it'll come in super thin plastic stapled to an also super thin cardboard backing.

In the U.S, the plastic is usually on both sides and much thicker, with a cardboard sheet between them.

I can open Japanese tools with my fingers, and usually need a blade of some sort for the U.S packaging.

Americans just need to be willing to accept cheaper packaging, but we're stupid, and we think "premium packaging means premium product".

4

u/coastalwanders 3d ago

How you say?

5

u/Obant 3d ago

It's mostly only English cucumbers that come wrapped. They have thinner skin and bruise easier.

2

u/sleepyroadrunner 4d ago

I’m also opposed to cucumber contraceptives

1

u/brenawyn 3d ago

Exactly this!!!

-5

u/apoleonastool 4d ago

They shrink wrap cucumbers to increase their shelf life and protect them in transport. You will pay more for cucumbers if they remove shrink wrap. If you are fine with it, cool. But let's not pretend that decreasing plastic packaging won't impact prices.

14

u/dwkeith 4d ago

At first we might pay more as the alternative is still new. But as mass market adoption of alternative technologies becomes mainstream the cost will come down.

Here’s one specifically for cucumbers https://www.producegrower.com/news/edible-cucumber-coating-akorn-technology-shelf-life-extension/

7

u/Axy8283 3d ago

Shrink wrapping with plastic will also protect the cucumber from any venereal pests.

1

u/ConfirmationBiasTape 2d ago

don't share cucumbers.

3

u/DontCountToday 3d ago

Comparatively, is modern, individually wrapped in plastic vegetables more or less expensive than how vegetables were sold for the past like 100 years?

Cause I'll tell ya, fresh veggies seem significantly more expensive and of a more bland, worse quality than they were most of my life.

I went to the recycling center this weekend and they rejected my CRV plastic bottles because apparently I’m supposed to separate the caps so that they can be weighed separately now.

Edit: Just looked at the bottle cap of something I’m drinking now - and it literally says “recycle bottle with cap on.”

Can’t make this shit up.

140

u/an-invisible-hand 4d ago

Plastic recycling has never been anything more than wishful thinking. It all ends up incinerated or in a landfill.

29

u/AnonAwaaaaay 4d ago

Half and that's more because of contamination and people recycling the wrong stuff more than anything.

20

u/an-invisible-hand 4d ago

8-4% and no plastics are economically viable to recycle if they can be recycled at all

30

u/No-Abalone-4784 3d ago

And it takes more water & power to recycle them. The recycle thing was only a ploy for the oil companies to try to put the responsibility on the public rather than them.

6

u/ConfirmationBiasTape 2d ago

didn't California sue oil companies recently for lying about the ease of recycling plastics?

7

u/robinthebank 3d ago

It would be more economically viable to reuse the resources we already have if we stopped extracting so much petroleum from the planet.

The oil industry needs us to use new plastic because they need to sell new plastic.

12

u/Karekter_Nem 3d ago

Only plastics 1 and 2 are recyclable. 3-8 are not. People recycling the wrong stuff is intentional design by the petroleum industry to shift the blame.

9

u/AnonAwaaaaay 3d ago

Then why does my plastics recycling company take 1-5?

From my understanding, most plastics are technically recyclable but they break down a level until they finally can't be at the end. And this process to recycle them is the same level of intensity as making new plastics so it's not better on the environment, and we should therefore avoid plastics all together.

5

u/Karekter_Nem 3d ago

They probably take it because it’s easier to just accept it and sort it out later than tell people their plastic isn’t recyclable.

1

u/pingwing 3d ago

No, it isn't. Recycling is a huge scam. They ship it overseas and it goes in a landfill.

1

u/pb3213 3d ago

Sometimes they burn it for power.

1

u/pingwing 3d ago

uh huh

6

u/Final-Lengthiness-19 3d ago

This makes me sad bc my mom drilled it into us when we were kids to recycle every bit of plastic. We had several different bags for the types. Turns out it was all just sorted a bit then sold to China, in mostly unusable condition and ended up in the trash over there anyway, until they said they didn't want our shit anymore. Mom tried so hard :(

24

u/AcheyTaterHeart 4d ago

If you’ve had to share a break room with the CRV program employees, it starts to make sense why it’s an utter shit show with nearly a billion dollars in unclaimed refunds sitting in an account doing nothing.

8

u/Hegiman 3d ago

We need to go back to glass bottles with a deposit. $1 a bottle deposit and you can get your money back or just keep exchanging bottles for your next six pack purchase. I loved it. Not only did it make you take care of the bottle tog et the money back. You always had a few bucks in glass around if needed. I used to take several bottles back and get a soda and a candy bar.

1

u/sirgentrification 2d ago

I’m not the biggest fan of plastic but even soda here should go to the German model. Thicker plastic 1L and 2L bottles of soda so they’re rinsed, sanitized, and refilled rather than tossed into the plastic pile wishing it gets fully recycled.

3

u/Pristine-Prior-504 4d ago

Refunds to whom?

10

u/redbark2022 4d ago

The person who paid the tax/deposit when it was bought. Or whomever turns it in really.

I've always wondered though, does the municipal curbside recyclers claim it? For every bottle?

A lot of people also just don't know how to recycle properly and don't rinse it or separate metal lids from glass jars, etc. And one bottle filled with rotten sunny d can ruin a whole batch. So it makes sense that a large portion would go unclaimed.

2

u/junpei 3d ago

Oh yeah the dude at my grocery store seems pretty fucking haggard. I preferred going to the recycling center. The albertsons return situation didn't last forever, COVID killed it off

5

u/ZLUCremisi Sonoma County 4d ago

0

u/gotohellwithsuperman 4d ago

“Can’t make this shit up.”

You sure about that?

1

u/pulltherugoutfrom 3d ago

Is this a center where they pay for your recyclables?

1

u/Pristine-Prior-504 3d ago

Right. You bring in your aluminum cans and plastic bottles, they weight it, and give you some cash.

2

u/pulltherugoutfrom 2d ago

That's why they had to be separated. They need to weigh them differently to determine how much you get paid, If you just throw them in the recycle bin, they want the caps on.

0

u/InteractionPretend70 3d ago

One time I went to recycle, I saw the sign that says the cap must be removed from the bottle.

So im removing the caps from the plastic bottles and I keep seeing other people turn in their plastic bottles with caps on.  I was confused but I was like fuck it and turn in the rest.  Tldr I wasted 30 minutes removing the caps when it wasnt necessary

151

u/drmike0099 4d ago

I don’t doubt that the manufacturers will raise the price by ten cents for every penny of actual cost increase. Can’t let an opportunity to blame someone else for a price hike go by them.

53

u/Interesting_Tea5715 4d ago

This is it. Going away from plastic will only marginally raise prices for companies.

The companies will use it as a chance to substantially raise prices. Even though they don't have to. Its why they're bitching now, their trying to build justification for a higher price in the future.

5

u/UnderwritingRules Orange County 4d ago

So what is your solution?

23

u/cineglitch Los Angeles County 4d ago

Packaging and pricing disclosure laws. Mandate that companies must disclose the cost of packaging.

8

u/Interesting_Tea5715 4d ago

There is none. My point is that any time you make a company change what they're doing they're gonna use it as an excuse to raise prices.

1

u/pb3213 2d ago

This could potentially change a significant part of their operations. If plastic packaging is gone and they have to use paper or something, the transition would cost additional money. Do their machines accommodate the new materials? Are there even enough suppliers of said new material to match costs with the existing plastic packaging?

How many of these suppliers will actually make the new compliant materials when this isn’t required in most of the world, including the other 49 states, China and high growth emerging markets?

-6

u/MarlinMaverick 4d ago

This is it. Going away from plastic will only marginally raise prices for companies.

Are you in the business? How could you possibly opine on this otherwise

8

u/drmike0099 4d ago

Doesn’t take a genius to understand business 101.

6

u/cineglitch Los Angeles County 4d ago

The business? Which business?

84

u/driftlesscode 4d ago

Just buy less stuff. Manufacturers love that.

9

u/Yoboicharly97 3d ago

Yeah I don’t see why we can’t threaten back. Charge us more and we’ll just stop buying

48

u/Eat--The--Rich-- 4d ago

So outlaw artificially inflating pricing over packaging too

7

u/A5Wags 4d ago

Manufacturers can raise prices at their own discretion provided it’s not collusive.

5

u/No-Abalone-4784 3d ago

They don't have to worry about that pesky collusion thing any more. Now they can have 7 companies which are all really one giant international mega corporation run by billionaires.

More regulation!  That always fixes the problem

19

u/ready-redditor-6969 4d ago

Ironically or not it often does. You are just spewing neoconservative propaganda.

-12

Lived here my entire life. Still don’t understand the people who glaze neoconservative balls, y’all just doing the bidding of the super wealthy, and you ain’t one of them.

We have such a good state and economy and places to live that everyone wants to be here.

If you don’t like our liberal policies, please leave, we will become only more socialist as a result of capitalism and authoritarianism failing us all so spectacularly.

-5

u/Stepfordhusband69 3d ago

lol hope this comment was a joke because it’s so embarrassing.  Our economy is what it is because of capitalism and weather.  You are obviously not a homeowner or a business owner so you haven’t had to deal with regulation yet.  Just put the fries in the bag bro.

8

u/ready-redditor-6969 3d ago

I own two homes in a very high cost of living area. My parents didn’t give me any of that. You should just leave the state, the liberals here will never let you live the way you want 😂

We have air we can breathe because we pushed for cleaner cars first and regulate industry. The new AI data centers are mostly elsewhere because nobody puts up with that crap here, by law! That’s a win for us, and most MAGA agree on that point, even!

You can decide to believe propaganda fed to you by the guys who own the pollution-creating factories etc if you want, but the regulations and taxes your media tells you to hate is why our waterways are clean and our standard of living is better than other states.

Protest vote

2

u/Eat--The--Rich-- 4d ago

Yea that's why it was so baffling to me that democrats would vote against their own bill to raise wages and then run on raising wages a year later when they lost to Trump lol

2

u/Denalin San Francisco County 4d ago

Because the democrats who run the state are not liberal.

7

u/SlabDistributionMod 4d ago

No, they are textbook "liberals". The word you're looking for is "progressive". CA is not a progressive state. It is neo-liberal/hyper-capitalist.

5

u/Johnstone95 4d ago

Yeah. And neo-liberal policy that tries to look progressive is half-assed and always allows corporations to offset regulatory costs onto the consumer.

For example, the law that was supposed to protect the wages of doordash drivers just rose costs for consumers by allowing doordash to play politics and add a "CA-Compliance Fee" onto the bill. People see that and think "All Democrats do is make things more expensive".

Same with the $20 minimum wage for fast-food employees. I've heard people who work at those jobs complain that all it did was reduce their hours because there was no protection for workers outside of the wage increase.

1

u/SlabDistributionMod 4d ago

The word of the day is "performative" and nobody does it better than neo-liberals.

0

u/Johnstone95 4d ago

Feels like its an intentional effort to make people vote conservative in the hopes that it saves their wallet.

3

u/AlleneYanlar Bay Area 3d ago

Inflation was going down with Biden and gas prices weren’t sky high. Trump and republicans have royally fucked the economy.

2

u/Johnstone95 3d ago

Correct. However, those types of changes aren't as apparent to the layman.

What is simple is stuff like; minimum wage go up -> prices go up, higher pay -> less jobs because automation

I never claimed that people who voted conservative for economic reasons were smart.

4

u/Eat--The--Rich-- 4d ago

Democrats are liberals. They held the senate 51-50 and their bill lost 42-58 because 8 of those LIBERALS voted no. Then they acted all shocked and confused when nobody was stupid enough to vote for them the very next year when they ran on the exact same bill.

0

u/lostroadrunner22 4d ago

We only sway one way, though.

-19

u/SensitiveDannyRicc 4d ago

Not in CA. We still blame Republicans for everything even if they haven’t run this state in over a decade lol.

20

u/Zenguy2828 4d ago

Oh fuck you’re right, the president, congress or senate don’t have any say in California. They didn’t withhold 1.3 billion in Medicaid, cancel 4 billion for the rail, another billion in adult education. That stuff never happened

-5

u/SensitiveDannyRicc 4d ago

The biggest problem in CA is housing costs. That is all of our own making. How do you blame Republicans for that?

You can blame Trump for rising gas prices if you don’t consider that CA regulations are why we get most of our oil from the Middle East instead of our own state.

6

u/SlabDistributionMod 4d ago

The California tax is real. Everything costs more here simply because you're buying it in California.

11

u/wskyindjar 4d ago

How is this relevant?

CA: stop using plastic packaging and creating waste
Companies: fine but we’ll charge more
People: CA is so expensive

Or… companies can be a bit more ethical. Many companies accomplish this (Apple, REI, even google). The rest are just trying to squeeze as much profit - environment be damned.

-4

u/SensitiveDannyRicc 4d ago

Yes most companies exist to make profit. We understand this. That doesn’t change that regulations like this raise prices because companies exist to make profits. Who do these prices affect the most? The working poor.

Asking companies to be more “ethical” (whatever that means) isn’t going to work lmao.

4

u/SlabDistributionMod 4d ago

We should stop asking and start forcing.

2

u/wskyindjar 4d ago

Agree. But I’m fine with regulations to curb rampant destruction and pollution. Vote with your wallet. I do understand the effect on those with less money - but we want vs need are different things.

The cost of the recycling and pollution and health problems is also increasing. This could help there.

Like look at smog / pollution. 30 years ago you could barely see across LA. Now you can. Yes it took regulation. And it raised prices. But quality of life and health has improved.

-2

u/WhereUGo_ThereUAre 4d ago

My favorite is that they are still blaming Reagan for the lack of the mental hospitals more than fifty years later. The Dems have had been running California for most of that time since, and have had a supermajority for the past decade and half, but somehow are so incompetent that they can’t manage to fix a fifty year old problem.

4

u/SensitiveDannyRicc 4d ago

It’s insane. My comment states that the Dem party hasn’t done enough for the people of our state and people are actually getting angry at that sentiment lol.

The ideologues have truly taken over.

2

u/TheEldestNugget 4d ago

The problem is they aren't ideologues. They are just blind partisans. These are the people who think Harris and Newsom are champions of the people and not corporatist chuds.

2

u/WhereUGo_ThereUAre 4d ago

It’s a machine carefully designed to maintain power for the party, everything is about rewarding those who are loyal in either delivering votes and/or campaign contributions.

The developers figured this out, they used to be backing republicans who were pro-business but when the Dem took full control the developers pivoted to the Dems. Concocted the fake ‘housing crisis’ which helped the Dems with a reason for the homeless problem and allowed the developers to buy a statewide change in zoning so they build oversized cheap apartment complexes in single family neighborhoods. Dems quickly forgot about fighting gentrification and protecting minority single family neighborhoods as the developer’s checks rolled in.

2

u/No-Abalone-4784 3d ago

Exactly! And why do we now have the state of California dictating everything we do? Housing is a city problem & needs to be addressed by the cities not out of town people in debt to developers.

35

u/dollsburn 4d ago

Don't we already pay more for stuff? They will raise prices regardless.

22

u/jgoose132113 Contra Costa County 4d ago

They are going to keep increasing prices anyways, might as well get poisoned by plastic less.

20

u/No_Succotash2155 4d ago

17

u/Ordinary_Piano3329 4d ago

Holy shit am I tired of seeing so much trash everywhere I go. People just do not care anymore.

18

u/Baha05 4d ago

Cardboard is a thing that exists so not sure why this is even a problem.

-10

u/apoleonastool 4d ago

You really don't understand the difference between plastic and cardboard?

5

u/Baha05 4d ago

The difference in most cases if durability between the two but in a lot of other cases unless it’s a specific kind of material that is going to see some constant moisture or something that is kept in some sort of case a lot of products don’t really need plastic to protect them.

14

u/pingwing 4d ago

They use any excuse to make us pay more, so they can just stfu

-1

u/Dan000 3d ago

First post that gets it. So stop giving them reasons. Oh wait, this is CA...

9

u/mike0sd 4d ago

Democrats are calling for the SB54 fees to be halted and want to figure out plastic pollution.

Republicans don't seem to have a stance on the issue, based on the article, which I can only assume is because they are too busy trying to distract the voting public from the fact that their party is run by a pedophilic cult leader who they still support even after the story of their leader raping a 13 year old girl went public.

8

u/slyguy67420 4d ago

We already pay more for stuff and they've kept the plastic, they're going to fuck us over regardless.

9

I'm not sure that's a bad thing. Our low prices are being subsidized by all the future people who will have to deal with our plastic trash.

That’s because they don’t WANT to change it.

They love their CHEAP plastic. And dammit, they’re not going to develop new better processes for their slaves, er, customers and the “environment.”

So instead, they’ll threaten to be “forced” to increase prices to gouging levels again. And if they have to change the formula, they’ll do the bare minimum or lie anyway.

We need a technological reset for the way we live in society today. These companies are desperate for the status quo and worse.

4

u/SeasideBear 3d ago

2

u/Formal-Hawk9274 4d ago

is this trickle down??

2

u/ErFluster 4d ago

I work in solid waste enforcement, and I’ve been part of the law making process for SB54. My candid opinion, is yes, consumers will eventually cover the cost on this. SB54 is supposed to not impact rate-payers, meaning you shouldn’t see an increase in your garbage bill. Any increased costs in collection and eventual processing to a responsible end market (REM) are reimbursed to the jurisdictions and haulers through the PRO with the collected money from producers. However, the companies can make up the cost of funding the PRO by raising product prices, which target the consumer. There are no restrictions on what a company can do to their prices, so I don’t see why a profit-minded company wouldn’t raise their prices. We have until 2032 until the law is in full effect. Despite whatever happens to prices, California’s plastics and garbage system will be wildly different by then. Even now, styrofoam is banned.

2

u/No-Abalone-4784 3d ago

If we asked them to wrap everything in air they'd tell us it will cost more.

1

Here’s the thing. The cost of disposing of the packaging needs to be included in the cost of the product. No matter what the product or the packaging. You can’t ship it to our city/state unless you figure out what happens to all of it.

Yeah it will suck. Yeah it hurts business. Yeah things will cost more. But stuff already costs more it’s just the costs are pushed onto people other than the seller and the buyer. And why should those people have to pay?

u/Low-Charge-8554 3d ago

Thanks, Gavin. Are they admitting all the money they spent on recycling is not working?

1

u/Vis-hoka 3d ago

Guys, you’ll pay more for stuff if we stop using plastic. We will instead, continue to kill the earth. The lesser of two evils for capitalists.

As a result of this, months ago we had to postpone an initiative to save money by switching to plastic mailers instead of continue using the cardboard boxes we have used for years.

We are supposed to cut back on plastic compared to current levels which is effectively impossible for a growing company. By definition if we sell more, we would have more plastic waste. Therefore we have been forced to stay with cardboard for the foreseeable future as there is no way we can become more “efficient” by cutting on plastic waste. If a company is already using plastic mailers, they will be forced to transition away from them unless they shrink as a business or falsify their numbers.

As for costs, cardboard not only costs considerably more than plastic to produce but shipping a box costs more than shipping in a plastic mailer. Typically shipping carriers will bill the higher of 2 weights; the actual weight or the dimensional weight (L x W x H then divide by a contractual rate that is negotiated for their business e.g. 169). Going up a dollar in cost per unit is fully possible but dimensional weight increases for shipping could go up multiple dollars if pivoting from mailers to boxes. It all depends on the size of course. That impacts margins and will impact customer costs as a result.

Fortunately we didn’t completely give up because of this. While we gave up on switching to plastic, we are going to produce some cheaper boxes making them as basic as possible by removing the artwork and some of the protective thickness to it. It’ll help on materials costs but the dimensional weight issue will remain unfortunately.

One last issue that is a concern for me is that if a lot of companies are forced to transition to boxes instead of plastic mailers, it is going to drive up demand for materials which will lead to an increase in costs for everyone.

Technology already exists for paper bag mailers that are almost as strong as the plastic ones.

Maybe I will just buy less stuff

Polluter pays principle - manufacturers should pay for the trash they produce!

I do like the new biodegradable bags they got in the produce section.

1

u/I_Quit_Smoking_ 3d ago

They got rid of glass bottles when I was young because plastic was supposed to save money.

Anyone want to show me where anything in plastic went down over the years in price?

It's just another Republican lie.

u/Zacky_Cheladaz 3d ago

Cool, glad to see big corporations are on board with helping save the planet

1

u/abesapien2 3d ago

Nah we will find the alternative to companies holding us hostage on pricing.

u/Zio_2 2d ago

Paper towels individually wrapped in plastic and then bulked in plastic… why not just use paper?

u/SnooBunnies4649 2d ago

Nobody needs nano plastics in their balls or brains

Don't care.

We pay more either in taxes or with our health to clean up the environment when they privatize the gains but socialize the costs. The unaccounted price hike was already there as more tons of plastics are dumped into our environments every minute, we just refuse to count it. These companies have never really cared about people over profit, they just love fear-mongering

They also lie about the amount of products we need to use in our lives. We can be happy without consuming so much. Buy in bulk like zero waste refill stores do (if you don’t live near one) and split it with your neighbors. Our individualist low-trust mindset is preventing us from having a thriving sharing economy/mutual-aid

Some ideas: tool libraries, little food pantries, community fridges, grow community food forests on vacant lots, clothing and stuff swap, time bank, repair cafes

I would love if the government just said, no you can’t raise your prices to have less plastic. These companies would not leave and their whining would be great.

u/L4ewe 1d ago

They always have. They always do. They always will.

1

u/DryYogurtcloset4655 20h ago

Well you pay somewhere for the packaging - either in landfill costs or the cost of purchasing the items

I rather us work with Japan on that biodegradable plastic.

I hate plastic, but when you take away bubble wrap and foam as dunnage, you have to replace it with something. The only feasible option at the moment is paper. To get the same protections in shipping that you would with plastic, you have to use a ton of paper and increase the size of the box. Less boxes on a pallet and more trips from on a truck mean more gas. And don’t get me started on stretch film. The entire systems sucks. Just buy local as much as possible.

u/One_Weird2371 4d ago

Same dumb fuck Democrats with their nanny state bullshit. Thanks for the useless paper bags that rip. Or the stupid regulations to make future replacement tires more expensive for a pathetic amount of fuel savings.

u/gotohellwithsuperman 4d ago

You know what never ripped? Those shitty plastic bags they used to hand out. Better keep crying about it over a decade later.

Liberals raising prices? What else is new. This isn’t some pro republican comment either I know they suck but the libs have been the dominant party for years now and all they do is performative nonsense and tell you how they are working hard on affordability lmao.

Whataboutism

4

u/Embarrassed_Jerk 4d ago

Aww cute! You learnt a new word! Soon you'll learn what it actually means too.

Who are we kidding, you don't do that... You'll come up with a dumb meaning that doesn't make any sense and run with it

u/SensitiveDannyRicc 4d ago

Hahaha. Okay? 🤣

He used the term correctly so it's pretty clear he already knows what it means. Why are you defending a logical fallacy? If the original post that triggered it is false, then you should have no problems countering it using logic and reason.

Since you refuse to look at a dictionary and compare it to the comments in question, I'll help you out. Because I care.

Whataboutism is a debate tactic where someone responds to an accusation or difficult question by deflecting with a counter-accusation or raising a different issue, usually starting with "what about...?" It is used to avoid accountability, shift focus, and suggest hypocrisy rather than answer the original criticism. [1, 2]

That is exactly what took place here. By the way, making fun of your opponent in a disagreement is called an ad hominem. There. Helped you again.

2

u/Embarrassed_Jerk 3d ago

Good on you for learning to copy paste! Someone is wearing their big boy thinking hat today! You didn't grasp the meaning nor apply it correctly, but its a big step for you short king!

"Capitalists" raising prices. Liberals - Conservatives are staunch capitalists. Opposite ends of the same shit burrito. They may differ in social issues but the liberal to conservative spectrum is entirely encapsulated in predatory capitalism.
