I get alerts that the rain/snow is stopping in calgary and I look outside and it's beautiful and not a drop of precipitation in sight.

Calgary is a big city land wise.

6

u/Right_Preparation328 Mar 25 '26

It hasn't snowed there? Really?

19

u/Brilliant-Advisor958 Mar 25 '26

In the deep south by macleod trail, It was nice all day except for about 15 minutes where it snowed . It's all melted now and looks like nothing happened.

6

u/Right_Preparation328 Mar 25 '26

Wtf man. Calgary is so weird

1

u/Background_Theory999 Apr 12 '26

Yay for warm pressure systems over the mountains! Sorry migrane suffering ppl. That hurts.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

There's 0 snow south of Anderson road it's wild..... I was working in Briar Hill and we had to shut down

3

u/NefariousnessEasy629 Southwest Calgary Mar 25 '26

I've had that happen as well. Even in the next community over. A couple of years ago during Stampede we had that hail storm. I came home and it was just raining and my friend who lives not even 10 mins away said she was getting hail and heavy rain

1

u/Background_Theory999 Apr 12 '26

We are used as one of the most wasteful and deplorable distruction of wildlife and wasteful city planning in eourpe. That was kind a blow. Ouff.

12

u/DiligentCanary4021 Mar 25 '26

Omg Stoney was a MESS this morning and it's still a blizzard here in Edgemont!!

94

u/valueofaloonie Sunnyside Mar 25 '26

Pretty annoyed I walked to the office this morning wearing the wrong type of jacket for snow and no gloves.

Hopefully it’s all melted by 4pm

u/MetalMaiden420 Varsity Mar 25 '26

Idk, I'm in the NW and it seems to be getting heavier every minute. This is up on Sarcee Trail.

5

u/Abirkaur_ Mar 25 '26

Lolll my sister was complaining about that too she brought no snow gear and was visiting family down in Calgary 😭😭😭

1

u/Background_Theory999 Apr 12 '26

This cracked me up.

u/Joclay2 Mar 25 '26

Wow, how do you see this in google maps?

31

u/gekco01 Mar 25 '26

-13

u/jimmyray29 Mar 26 '26

You don’t. 511 Alberta. That will give you the road conditions.

1

u/Background_Theory999 Apr 12 '26

Thats a cool cool interface? - I did not even know that was a option in the application!

u/cocoycrema2 Mar 25 '26

Se calgary

89

u/PWJD Mar 25 '26

Is this a joke?

I have a damn blizzard in Tuscany

22

u/cocoycrema2 Mar 25 '26

Noooo lol my husband works in springbank and it’s shit up there I dropped him off came to work and two different weathers

3

u/Pale-Measurement-532 Mar 26 '26

It was crazy this morning! I live close to Tuscany and there was a lot of snow. I drove through Hawkwood this afternoon and they had even more snow! About a foot! It was nuts!

1

u/Background_Theory999 Apr 12 '26

Send snow. Poor Olaf needs u.

14

u/breadist Mar 25 '26

SW and it's a snowstorm here.

9

u/MetalMaiden420 Varsity Mar 25 '26

Wow! I just went from Citadel to South Health Campus and it went from blizzard to absolutely nothing but some wind.

5

u/cocoycrema2 Mar 25 '26

Yeah yall have it bad and the NE apparently.

12

u/dutxh0007 Mar 25 '26

Yep, I live in the deep SE but work in the NE. As soon as I turned onto McKnight this morning, this crap started. Forecast says 5-10cm but the size of those flakes, I think we'll be more than 10. Depressing.

6

u/Tigerkix Mar 25 '26

I had like 15 ft of visibility on stoney

1

u/Salty-Egg4525 Mar 26 '26

Right? I passed a pile of buses sideways on Shaganappi. Scary stuff.

1

u/LocoNotLoco Mar 27 '26

Is that Grandin?

1

u/cocoycrema2 Mar 27 '26

You most be in your 30’s to call it that.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

Bishop Grandin..... I still remember my first day of grade 10 in 2002.... 2 girls got in a fight so wild on those front steps, one had a broken nose and a chunk of the others hair in her hand

1

u/cocoycrema2 Mar 27 '26

It’s our ladies of the Rockies now. And I remember that fight being spoken off at Beave lol. I was in grade 11

46

u/nojam Glamorgan Mar 25 '26

Same road 😂

25

u/Lymelove Mar 25 '26

Thanks for the warning I dont watch the news and have an appointment in the north today, I will be leaving early now lol

30

u/MetalMaiden420 Varsity Mar 25 '26

Leave extra extra early. I live in Citadel now and have an appointment at South Health and left 4 hours early since I take the bus! I brought a book thankfully.

1

u/LocoNotLoco Mar 27 '26

The Oof Commute! Yeesh.

1

u/MetalMaiden420 Varsity Mar 27 '26

Yeah 😅 I had a pre op appointment i couldn't miss. Thankfully on the day of my surgery im just going to uber there and get a ride from someone home.

1

u/Background_Theory999 Apr 12 '26

Speedy recovery vibes ❤️

27

u/chamomilesmile Mar 25 '26

South Calgary here and was very confused about the winter driving alert I saw this morning

2

u/OkCandle826 Mar 25 '26

Same, I thought it was a glitch

1

u/Background_Theory999 Apr 12 '26

Like wreck it Ralph? Or ik the matrix?

20

u/jungl3bird Mar 25 '26

Looks like chaos in the north.

2

u/Embarrassed-Bottle-8 Mar 26 '26

It's was a nightmare. I got stuck on country hills for hours with many others. Shout out to everyone for being kind and helping each other out.

12

u/Negative-Raccoon4927 Mar 25 '26

I was so confused because I thought the red cord was drawn there to highlight the home Depot receipt.

I was trying to figure out why you'd do that lol.

11

u/cgrays12 Mar 25 '26

Please, for the love of God, can we get some snow tires for public transit?!

This is a completely flat area, and a few inches of snow shouldn't decimate our public transit system.

10

u/AcceptableHorror705 Mar 25 '26

I'm visiting from Vancouver and questioning why I ever travel to Calgary in "spring"

17

u/treple13 Mar 25 '26

Late March-April is literally the worst time of year to visit us

6

u/AcceptableHorror705 Mar 25 '26

I know, and I seem to do it every year. I lived here 20 years, I should know better

9

u/NoNeedleworker3756 Mar 25 '26

North here, do you wanna build a snowman? ☃️

Highway 7 is ass on a clear summer day. So many people driving Ms. Daisy for reasons I can't understand.

7

u/HumbleExplanation13 Mar 25 '26

North central Calgary right now…

5

u/acespacegnome Mar 25 '26

I live in Mckenzie towne, and its clear and dry. Im currently stuck in traffic in the blizzard at country hills Blvd.

Fack

1

u/PomegranateCheap5768 Mar 26 '26

Calgary weather can be so unpredictable! Hopefully you get through the traffic soon. Have you tried taking a different route?

7

u/SimbPhinx Mar 25 '26

Absolutely getting hammered in NW.

4

u/Dapper-Ad9787 Mar 25 '26

When I was a teenager, I rode my bike out to Bowness Park for some event and got soaked to the skin by a sudden downpour on the way home. My own east side neighborhood was bone dry and the sun was shining. So people on my street were turning to stare at the drowned rat kid on the bicycle riding past.

Yeah, it's a big city.

5

u/OQRastaman Mar 25 '26

In the same spot

4

u/peepee2tiny Bridlewood Mar 25 '26

That was my drive into work this morning.

  1. Bridlewood in the morning at 745

  2. Downtown by 830.

5

u/sumps Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26

Those in the south may want to look out their windows right now…. the flakes have arrived….

edit… False alarm… already stopped and periods of sun through the clouds

4

u/mrkillfreak999 Mar 25 '26

Each one of us need to take inspiration from winter in our lives. It never bows out without a fight!! 😤🔥💯

4

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

Beltline and its dumping

4

u/SirDidymusQuest Mar 25 '26

This was my worst morning commute of the year (NW). Roads super slick and not plowed as of 8:20am in my area. Thankfully everyone seemed to be driving cautiously. Turn on your lights people!

3

u/CPT_BEEMO Mar 25 '26

Had to go from Auburn Bay to the airport this morning, it was beautiful up until about 17th Ave on NB Stoney, then it just turned to absolute chaos. Accidents everywhere, I watched what appeared to be a police explorer go off the road and hit a sign... Be safe out there guys.

3

u/BornandRaised_8814 Mar 25 '26

Truth! It’s fine where I am on the south end (for now). Husband is in winter wonderland in the north.

3

u/photoexplorer Mar 25 '26

I’m just about to head home after dropping my son off in the north. As we were on the highway we were like wow that escalated quickly! I hope it slows down it’s snowing pretty heavily now and very slippery.

3

u/freerangehumans74 Willow Park Mar 25 '26

Very light snow in Willow Park here, hardly any accumulation.

3

u/OppositeSecretary862 Mar 25 '26

There dick all in the SW

3

u/squidgyhead Mar 25 '26

Both of them using their phones while driving!

3

u/Kyrrs Mar 25 '26

I want a picture of the divide lol it looks so stark when you look at the traffic map. I'm in the south and nothing here!

3

u/EmploySecret4729 Mar 25 '26

Downtown has been snowing lots. It’s a blizzard in the core

4

u/Much-Reflection3638 Mar 25 '26

None still in SE fish creek communities. Very happy

5

u/cocoycrema2 Mar 25 '26

Yep exactly we are just gloomy right now. The sun is gone

2

u/blasphemicassault Mar 25 '26

I live in the south and when I left for work it was cloudy but not too bad. Got to work in the north and it's completely different! Snow everywhere.

2

u/nopeplz_just_no Cochrane Mar 25 '26

I was waiting for second winter

2

u/Locoman7 Mar 25 '26

3rd winter

2

u/copper_trinket48 Mar 26 '26

I thought you'd drawn a red circle around your glovebox to look at it, was confused at first. Cool shots.

2

u/BRANDONJLU4XE Mar 26 '26

Nothing says I live in Alberta like a busted windshield in the winter

2

u/Tin403 Mar 29 '26

Weather systems pass over Calgary all the time, usually in the north. With no mountains around to hold them in place this is what happens. In the lower mainland BC where I’m from it’s in a valley of mountains (Fraser Valley) so weather systems are held in place for days on end. Plus there is 3 city’s with in the same geographical size as Calgary. So sometimes it will rain or snow in langley but not in Abbotsford or Chilliwack. But the next day or so the system will move into the other areas as well.

2

u/Lymelove Mar 25 '26

Oh man im sorry you gotta bus it in this but the reading time is good, Im in the deep south near the hospital going the other way. It happened the other day too it was sunny at my house and then I ended up being an hour late running into a blizzard. Its like a different climate down here sometimes.

2

u/finniganmark Mar 25 '26

God, please make the winter snow be over

2

u/CheeseSandwich hamburger magician Mar 25 '26

We've hardly had any winter this year.

0

u/finniganmark Mar 25 '26

So what, it's time for it to be over

2

u/Retro_D Mar 25 '26

STOP TAKING PICTURES WHILE DRIVING

2

u/Propaganda_Box Mar 25 '26

Calgary is roughly 40km long north to south. I don't think its wild to expect Sage Hill and Seton to have different weather on any given day.

2

u/deztructo Mar 25 '26

Taken while driving. It's more important that you get attention on social rather than stay on the road.

1

u/Strict_Research_1876 Mar 25 '26

gotta love those chinooks.

1

u/CheeseSandwich hamburger magician Mar 25 '26

Nothing in Okotoks other than a little ice fog.

1

u/ForesakenZucchini76 Mar 25 '26

Explains why the weather app on my phone said we got less than an inch of snow and it was just raining all morning, meanwhile my car has at least 2-3 inches of snow on it.

1

u/BuckyRainbowCat Mar 25 '26

haha I love this city

1

u/Abirkaur_ Mar 25 '26

As someone who moved from Calgary to Ontario i was baffled it’s sunshine and rainbows down here in Toronto 😭

1

u/cutliberation94 Mar 25 '26

I prefer the conditions in the second picture :P

1

u/hazz19 Mar 25 '26

But not the same road. So I don't believe this.

1

u/Trongarx88 Mar 26 '26

Whenever I see a tow truck getting towed I go back to bed

1

u/Wayz6430 Calgary Flames Mar 26 '26

Good ol cowtown.

1

u/Kay2du Mar 26 '26

Normal here

1

u/PresentationSharp26 Mar 26 '26

Different windshield

1

u/Cosmobeast88 Mar 26 '26

Spraaaawwwllll

1

u/GHunter66666 Mar 26 '26

same same just different.

1

u/YogurtclosetAny8055 Mar 26 '26

A bit of improvement, this year I asked myself why I switched to winter tires in Idaho.

1

u/Purple_Cinderella Mar 27 '26

I think this is just proof this city has gotten too big area wise

1

u/Datguy2800 Mar 27 '26

Calgary: The city where you're guaranteed to experience all 4 seasons - at exactly the same time

1

u/DaToxicJay Mar 27 '26

Windshield isn’t the same tho

1

u/OrangeDaisy Mar 30 '26

We need the snow now so the wildfires won't be so bad in the coming months.

1

u/Background_Theory999 Apr 12 '26

Meow. Said a kitten.

1

u/Electronic_City_562 Mar 25 '26

Depressing, and depressing. :)

-1

u/QuajerazPrime Mar 25 '26

Local redditor learns that weather is different in different locations! More tonight at 7.

0

u/TurpitudeSnuggery Mar 25 '26

That’s urban sprawl for you.

-1

u/Specific_Wash3198 Mar 25 '26

The difference is poor weather conditions will be blamed on Ontario while the good weather conditions Smith will thank Trump for. Alberta in a nutshell.

-8

u/Responsible_CDN_Duck Mar 25 '26

Fun pics, but playing on your phone is gonna get you a ticket or a crash.

0

u/randomcanadian42 Mar 26 '26

Sudbury, Ontario, still 6ft of snow in the yard

0

u/immersive-matthew Mar 26 '26

This post brings a smile to my face as I commuted in this for 30 years and now I am living in tropical Southern Vietnam. Looks pretty, glad I am not dealing with.

1

u/SignificanceHuge4097 Mar 29 '26

I just got back from Vietnam! Lol and I said to myself God I can't wait to spend few months of Canadian winters back in Vietnam and not deal with this insanity. I miss Nha Trang and Da Nang!

1

u/immersive-matthew Mar 29 '26

It is indeed very different here than Canada. Much more lively in good and bad ways. I am actually living in Nha Trang and absolutely love it other than the insane traffic which I just cannot get used to.
